Garp remembers Portgas D. Rogue's face.
Some dialog from the end of the chapter:
"Well then...any last words?"
"Haven't met in a few decades, eh? Sengoku." "My dear son is safe, isn't he?"
Whitebeard meets Ace's eye.
"Endure a bit more, Ace" "Father!!!"

Hey, Hiroy! You wouldn't happen to be the same Hiroy on AP forums, would you??
So when reading about the chapter cover story, Usopp fighting the bird, I couldn't help but think that maybe Usopp is actually on the island that Chopper's on? I mean, if I remember correctly, Chopper landed in a tree, and was scared out/knocked out by a large bird. Until we see a picture, we can't really clarify, but...speculation?
I was hoping for a huge, knock-down brawl between Luffy and the marines at the execution, but this, I have to admit, is a lot more exciting. Considering we haven't seen much of Whitebeard to this point, it's especially cool to see him stepping in for such a dramatic event. Just to say: Ace is Roger's son. Whitebeard was Roger's rival. If Whitebeard's stepping up to save his rival's son, that's truly noble of him.
I was thinking the bird is a condor from the island Chopper is on too.... or it could be the same island. We'll find out soon.

Sorry I haven't posted for a while on any one piece forum...been busy anyways read the latest chapters and gotta say I didn't expect ace to be the son of gol D. Rogers.
I wonder though if he's still related, it would be interesting if Gol D. rogers and Monkey D. Dragon were actually brothers. Who knows maybe their relatives or something. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nice idea hiroy about starting a guild for one piece fans.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Well don't forget ace used his supposed mother's surname, so maybe his real father's surname is actually Monkey D. Rogers and he changed it to GOL D. ROGERS to hide his lineage or something.
Don't forget he was being pursuited by garp, so the best way to avoid family hunting you down would be to change your surname and make it hard for them to trace you.
I still think ace is related to the monkey family somehow. Most likely like I stated Monkey D. Dragon could be his uncle and luffy his cousin or a close relative to them. You never know. question
About Saul D. Jaguar maybe he was a distant relative or something, he could also be indirectly related to the monkey family somehow. Maybe he was portgas D. Rouge's Brother,father, cousin, or indirect family.
Yes the whole Connect the dots between the D. generations is liable to give you headaches but there has to be a simple answer somewhere.

I do agree with your idea that Gol D. Roger changed his name to hide...it'd make sense. The only D I'm REALLY trying to figure out is Blackbeard. He's such a wild card right now.
