User ImageToday, her mother let her go out on her own, much to her father's protest. Of course her mother smoothed things over, and Jayel couldn't have been more thrilled. The rapidly coming night found the pup near the river, pawing at her reflection and yipping as if it was another dog. She didn't know any better. This was the first time she'd seen what she'd looked like!

Quieting down for a moment, she twitched her orange tipped ears and tilted her head to the side watching the other pup in the water do the same. "....Is that me?" She said out loud in a whisper. The orange diamond mark on her forehead creased as did her invisible brows. She was two colored, sh knew that from chewing the fleas off herself, but she didn't know here was orange on her ears and forehead. Pawing at the water again, a noise caught her attention. A rustling in the bush.

And she flipped around, green eyes focusing on the gently swaying bush and growled softly, crouching down. Jayel didn't know what she was doing, she'd never been hunting, never seen her parents hunt, but she'd try anyway! Crawling towards the bush, she sniffed the whole way and then went wide eyed. What was that scent?!

As she raised a paw to strike the bush, a blue fox darted out and growled at the puppy, causing Jayel to jump back and scramble away from the fox. "HEY!"

Startled, the fox took off, and Jayel went flying after it, hoping to catch it enough to get some kind of conversation going.

Yet another scent would come to mingle with Jayel's and tghe fox's, for the pup was not the only one chasing after a meal. Something vague sweet wafted into the air, and extra pawsteps thumped somewhere across from the two, heading perpendicular to the fox's direction in hopes of literally tackling right into it rather than exhaust a chase. Fantasia had never boasted about speed, but it was worth a try. Though Disneyana and Allah were loving parents, they were a family of loners and full of soft hearts (Fantasia was mostly excluded from that clause), and thus sometimes food was hard to come across; he would have to learn how to find his meal at some point, right?

Thus it was because he was so driven by hunger that Fantasia's eyes were only upon the blue blur, exacting his timing and pumping those limbs forward to barrel right into the creature. He did not, however, realize that it was because of his hunger that he was not going as fast as he thought he was, nor did the ginger pup realize that someone else was also in pursuit, so caught up in the hunt was he. And by barely missing the fox's tail when he lunged, a collision was imminent . . .

And a collision happened indeed. The brown and mocha colored pup barreled into the ginger pup with a yelp and a tumble of limbs. She scrambled up, tripped over the male, and fell again, yelping and whimpering as she hit her chin on the ground pretty hard.

It took her a few more minutes before she actually got up, not tripping, and whimpered, bringing a paw to her chin to check for blood. None, thankfully. Blinking, she looked up and raced forward a bit. The blue thing was gone! "Dang it! I wanted to talk to it!" She growled out, sitting down on her rump. She brought a back leg up to scratch at her ear and then turned around and blinked.

Who was he? Why was he on th- Ooooh. Right. She'd collided with him earlier. Padding back over to the male, she nudged his chin to make sure he was alive and then pawed his back. "Hey, you ok?" She asked, sniffing at his ear. Manners? What were those?

So many stars . . . Did he fall from the sky? The world was tumbling after all, and maybe what was keping him on the ground had been turned off, and he was just in fact flying without the sensation of flying anymore - he had been flying right? After some blue comet with four legs . . . Gods did his side hurt, though. why was something cold poking it?

Sentience came by in a quick burst, and Fantasia heard beyond the ringing in his ears a voice asking him if he was okay. "Not . . . really . . ." he mumbled, ear twisting away from the cold thing as it dug inside, and he attempted to get to his paws and instead only flopped to his belly. More pain! "Augh . . . Where'd the . . . the blue thing go?"

"The blue thing is .... gone. I don't know!" She yipped a little and nudged him again, wanting the other puppy to get up and on his feet. "Didn't see you, otherwise we wouldn't have collided like that. Why was you chasin' that blue thing anyway? I wanted to talk to it." Not like he'd asked, but Jayel was nervous, and when she was nervous, she talked. A lot.

She saw the pretty markings on the little male puppy and grinned. Her own were prettier, she thought. Natural markings were so pretty because that was the only patterns she ever saw. Most of her family had normal spots and swirls, not random colors like his. "I'm Jayel."

Talk to it? He snorted softly, managing to slowly get to his paws and into a sitting position as he was poked again. "Was trying to get it," he replied, "and eat it. Hungry like nothing else. But, um . . . sorry about that, I guess." The pup swayed slightly where he sat, feeling a little lightheaded still from the crash. "M'Fantasia. Great, now I'm in no shape to go and try to find food. Have to sit and wait even more till this passes." He huffed a sigh and kicked himself for being so inept at even catching a simple meal.

She frowned at that and put her ears against her head. It was her fault he didn't catch the blue thing to eat. Sitting down hear him, she watched him wobble with worry and bit down on her bottom lip, sighing. "...I could go get you some fish. Momma taught me how to do that when I get hungry on my own," she said with a soft smile. She wanted to be helpful since the puppy was hungry.

Jayel could honestly say she'd never gone hungry before. Whenever she complained, momma or daddy went out and caught them something to eat. "So.... when you can get up, I'll give you some fish." The brown puppy hoped that would make amends.

Fish didn't sound half bad, though earlier he had utterly failed at that endeavor as well. He wondered why this Jayel sounded a little apologetic, like it was her fault they had collided in the first place. Fantasia heaved a great breath and shook off the dizzying sensation, gingerly standing up. "S-Sounds good," he replied with a small nod, wincing when he found that her head had met his ribs in a painful fashion. Tail limp, he turned to her expetantly, trying to hide the signs of said forming bruise. "Where's the river? Do you know?" As if he was going to let someone else get his meal! At most they would fish together, not him being tended to like some sick patient.

She knew pride when she saw it. Her daddy had pride in certain things. Like hunting for mommy. Sighing, she faked a smile and nodded at his question. "Of course! It's near my family's den!" she said excitedly, tail wagging and her head motioning him to follow her. Jayel wouldn't try to be too nice to him anymore. The Fanta didn't seem like a very friendly type that she figured all pups to be.

She huffed a bit as she padded along, not even seeing if he was really following. In a way, Jayel was disappointed she couldn't actually help the other with his injuries. She'd caused them, hadn't she? So why didn't Fanta want help? "Stubborn boy."

"Yes I am," Fantasia commented unabashedly, as if it weren't supposed to be a big deal, and hobbled after the mocha girl, eye twitching slightly ever few steps. "So you're family lives near here? In a pack?" If so, it would be like that Silhouette girl he had met earlier, though by far Jayel was at least seemingly cheery; a nice reprieve. He probably ought to at least try not being so serious, else it might just sour things again; was that why things with Silhouette went south quickly? Eeeeh. Girls were strange creatures if he had learned anything yet in his short time on this land.

In a pack? She snorted a laugh at that and quickly shook her head. "Psft. No. Momma and daddy are planning to take us traveling pretty soon. So a pack wouldn't be good for them or us right now. I've three siblings. Another sister and two brothers," the small exclaimed proudly. She was the last born, the weakest and the smallest in her litter. Not that she really cared. It didn't make her siblings treat her any different.... that she knew of. "Do you belong to a pack? What kind of pack?" She asked, turning around to watch him, slowing down so he could catch up.

But the boy shook his head. "Not in a pack yet. Just me, my parents, and a brother and sister, all living in a den of thorns and roses; you might have smelled them on me. Just was wondering 'cause I met another girl who said she was in a really large pack a while ago," Fantasia explained, catching up since she slowed her pace. He couldn't quite remember what the name of it was, or if Silhouette had even mentioned it. "Might make one sometime, though. So travel where?"

Where were they going? She didn't know. "....They didn't say. But Probably south. Momma was heading there before she met daddy. Momma collects stories of other wolves and tells them to us!" She was proud of her mother for doing that. At the mention of roses, she sniffed a bit and indeed smelled something sweet. Why hadn't she noticed it before? So scatter brained this pup was sometimes. Her tail swayed back and forth for a minute, thinking. "You're the only pup I've seen aside from siblings. So you're kinda cool!" Kind of. But he was also a jerk who didn't like to take the help she'd offered. So whatever.

Finally, they'd gotten to the edge of the river and she moved to it quickly, lapping at the cool liquid. Running and talking had made her throat so painfully parched. She shuddered as the water slid down her throat, easing the dryness back in its right place.

Her exclamation made him grin somewhat in amusement. "'Cool', huh? I guess. Smelling like roses isn't exactly manly." Finding the river at last, he settled himself down beside her and partook of the river himself, enjoying the cool sensation going down his throat rather than slather all over him as it had occured a while back; then again, this place wasn't as muddy, and he hadn't yet tried to fish, fail, and flop into the water.

"Story collector, huh?" Fantasia continued after quenching the thirst, darkened bronze eyes beginning the search for a familiy flicker of silver in the river's depths. "Sounds fun. Most I can say about my parents is that they're really sappy with all of us, and especially with each other. Your mom likes fairytale love? That's what they have." He made a small face, remembering the saccarine words and the smothering love they had. It was appreciated to know that they were wanted, but Fanta was a pup that had not quite inherited that sort of soft-hearted urges.

"Sounds almost like my parents, but I'm not smothered," she said with a grin. Sure, her parents were mushy about them and each other, but they knew when to stop. Stretching herself out, she waded into the river's shallows and sighed, standing still.

"You have to stay still and silent if you want to catch fish. Wait until they get around your paws and the big ones get in front of you. Momma said to angle yourself 'cause something about.... something. But the fish ain't where they look like they are." Jayel liked sounding smart. Beaming with that knowledge, she waited for the other to get into position, then she'd teach him the right way to get a fish.
