He had grown, finally! Deception had thought it would take him forever to finally get to the adult stage, but he was still a young adult, his muscles weren't fully developed. They were large already moving and rolling under his leathery dappled coat like steel snakes. He stood about 15 hands now, but still had some growing to do. His leather wings flexed and spread out then folded up tight against his back. "Booooored." The stallion sighed dramatically then snickered snapping his tail back and forth. With a grin and flick of his tail again he spread his wings out and took to the air. He marveled in the cold wind whipping his mane into a frenzy, defying Mother earth's pull for even short amounts of time was a thrill and made him feel even more powerful than he knew he already was. But he was not flying today to marvel in his own glory, he was on a mission. Tilting his head he stared at the earth bellow searching for dinner, or a toy or two, anything really to alleviate the boredom that had settled on him. It didn't take him to long to spy a herd grazing so carelessly in the open, with a snicker her started to circle high above them making sure he stayed wide so none would notice his shadow. He circled ... once, twice, three times and never once did one of the soquili look up to scan the skies. They scanned the forest around them, but never the skies. Were they so foolish they didn't think danger could come from anywhere? With a loud chortle of delight the stallion banked hard and started his descent towards earth.

It was Claude who happened to glance upward at a moments fancy. He couldn't place his finger on why, exactly, but he did. The gods must have favored him because he seemed to glance up at the perfect moment to catch a kalona on his decent. He reared back and orders his small family to stay together as they headed for the trees. His mother, of course, wanted to stand and fight, but being an Usdia, she'd be easy pickings for a Kalona. He shoved her away and under Suichii who hurried her away as fast as he could. It wasn't long before claude could dedicate his full attention to the Kalona decending on him. He debated on whether to wait for him on the ground, or meet him halfway. It may be hard to negotiate in air, so he opted for the former. He made himself low to the ground and flicked his tail in nervous anticipation. He'd faught off minor brtues, and the occasional mean soquili, but this would be his first stand off with a Kalona Stallion. There wasn't a doubt in his mind that he'd have to fight him. If it were a mare, he'd high tail it out of there, he made it a policy not to fight mares, regardless of race. It wasn't long before the stallion was visible to him. No. It was a colt he'd had dealings with in the past. Of course, he was a stallion now. A young stallion, but a stallion none the less. His body was still sinewy and uncontroable as it was a foal, but it still held power, of that much Claude was certain. He'd have to tread carefully with this one. Perhaps he could talk his way out of a fight this time, with the grand mother and mother far from sight. He was still adolescent, and perhaps he was as confused as others. Each child was different. Some had the confidence to stand by thier conviction, others were easily swayed, as he was as a child. He prayed to every diety that this stallion was as he was as a child. Or else he'd be forced to fight him, a child, something that was better elft at home, for that's what he was. Newly grown and not yet tapped into his full potential. Claude felt a strange pang of sympathy for him. He wished he could save him, yet knew he could not.

He huffed as they scattered suddenly darting for the trees ... all but one. At first he couldn't make the lone figure out , until he drew closer to earth and saw the fire stallion down bellow ... ah!! it was bird brain! How delightful.
Deception pushed his huge wings back throwing his hind legs forward so they would hit the ground first.
After a moment the stallion did hit, his hooves barely made a noise as first the hind then the fore legs touched the ground. His head was held high and he stared down his nose at the crouching stallion. His long tail swayed back and forth behind him brushing across the grass. "Well well ... aren't you so brave to be hiding in the grass."
He watched the stallion closely eyeing those hideous wings again. oh how glorious it would be to rip those up. A cruel psychotic grin stretched across his face showing his glittering fangs as he eyed the stallion bellow him.

Claude winced gently, his pride roaring to life to straighten up and fight. But his logic also cooed gently for him to stay down, low to the ground to avoid air resistence. He was no good to his family dead, and when push came to shove, if he needed to flee then he would. "I don't want to fight with you, child. I don't know of the reasons for your arrival here, but i'll gladly leave you alone if I can. I'm older than you, I have more expirience under my belt than you do." Claude didn't move an inch. He was like a tightly coiled spring, ready to release the potential entergy, either to flee or fight. He wrestled down the instinct to run away, as fight or flight kicked in. This wasn't the lanky colt from ages ago. He was big now. Muscular, more so than he'd origenally thought, no doubt from countless hunts. Of course, he'd expected nothing less from a child of Dyson, a Kalona Claude had had dealings with in the past. He still had faint scars on his flanks and shoulders from that altercation. He was wiser now, and stronger. He'd not take this one as lightly as his father. "Why have you come here? I was not aware that this was anyone's territory, or hunting grounds, sinc eI'm dealing with a Kalona."

Deception grinned tongue sliding over his lips. His tail swayed back and forth in the grass behind him, muscles rippling under his brown leathery hide. The stallion rocked forward towards the crouching stallion "c'mon on knight" he spat the word at the cowering stallion "is your ilk not supposed to be brave in the face of danger." He snapped his fags and rocked back and forth on his hooves "You are a pathetic excuse for a creature, cowering in the grass when faced your opponent larger than you" Silver eyes, void of emotion didn't give away the kalona's sheer giddy-ness, he was trying to rile Claude up, he wanted a fight.
"I don't -need- a reason to have traveled here, as far as you need to know. All that should matter to you bird brain is that I -am- here, and very much a danger to yourself and your pathetic little troop cowering in the trees." Soul-less white eyes blazed to life in malicious glee as he spoke his last statement.

Claude resisted the urge to lift his head and fought back his pride. He couldn't afford to make sloppy mistake, not with his family hovering so near by. It was times like these that he really hated having such a tight family. They all cared too much about him to get the hell out of there. He glanced briefly behind him to see only Suichii, who was the only one who didn't blend in with the surrounding foliage. "We are taught to pick our battles, and to run when we can. I prefer not to harm others, no matter thier affiliations, or race. And if I am correct, then since I have stated my stance, that being that I will not attack unless attacked first, then it is your move, child. And all you seem to be doing is talking." He lifted ever so slightly off of the ground as the breeze made the grasses tickled his under side.
