So I do sketches of avie art and whatnot. But I just HATE to have someone in my family see me do them (my mother gets this weird annoying voice and my father thinks that someone else did it, my brother doesn't give a crap, he probably thinks that he could do better and I'm not that good since he used to draw all the time too)
Like yesterday I was fixing up details on a sketch and my mom's like "I wanna see what you're doing!" and I said no and she just kept saying "Let me see let me see!" and I basically pulled her by the arm and flippin wrestled her (first time ever) but even then I just gave up.
URGH. God no means no, what's there not to get about that? What would I be doing, drawing naked women or men? Sheesh, I could very well be writing in my diary and she'll probably be like "Let me read! What have you got to hide huh?" (isn't the first time she's said that)
God how do I deal with this. It's so annoying. Next time I'm going to lock my door but even then she'll be like "What are you doing to lock your door!?"
*violently flails*

That really sucks. My parents never really did that to me. If they won't listen to you if/when you tell them you want privacy...try going to the park or library. wink

Hmm, that sounds like a really good idea, except that they'd go ballistic because they'll be like "What were you thinking! Someone could have kidnapped you! What would we do then? You're our only little girl!" Even though I could have casually (and I've done so before) walk to the park just five minutes away.
Maybe I'll do that when school starts though =] (if I stay at my regular high school)

They sound a bit over protective.

xD Not a bit my dear friend. They're way over protective. And they even know it themselves though they call it "we love you too much" =_=
Examples: I've had one sleepover I've been to the movie once I've had two birthday parties where I could invite who I want You already know about them not liking my friends When I thought my mom was dumb for believing me that I broke up with my ex-fiancee when she always asked "you guys are just friends right?" (I always replied sarcastically "sure") she admitted that she tried not to let me out more so she could "slowly pull us apart" Oh, and I'm not allowed to hang out past ten (or even nine but I was at the movies till 10:30 because I lied and said that's when the movie ended)

Gosh that sucks. The reason I was always stuck in the house was before I had a car of my own and my parents just never wanted to drive me. Up until I moved out I think my curfew was 10.

I would love to have a curfew. During work one lady was telling old high school stories of how she lived vicariously through her daughter and she always dressed her up and did her hair and went shopping with her for Homecoming and Prom. It sounded like SOO much fun but I doubt my mom would be like that... She's the type that's all like "No! Too much money! Use one of mine! Or put something together!" (but her's are these weird Asian style dresses and people would look at me funny)
PLUS she says that if I go to a dance alone or with some friends that would be "weird" and "desperate" since no guys have asked me (ugh puke! I don't know why but that just always makes me so mad) But she won't even let me go to a dance with a guy in the first place! I know her! She's said that the guy can't be "Too weird" or "too pretty" which is pretty sad for me because, well, almost all guys I'm interested in are her so called "weird"
I dunno, I'll see what happens. *heavy sigh*

My mom kept dresses but I always was able to get my own. Cheap ones, but that was since money was always tight. One dance she let me borrow a dress of hers that I love. It's vintage and she passed in on to me. I have tons of dresses. I've kept almost all of them. (oh no, and I'm keeping all my dresses for possible future daughter hope that's not weird)
I doubt people would look at you that weird for wearing one since....oh I dunno...you're Asian! xd :
There's nothing wrong with going to a dance without a date. I could see you more the type to go with a group of friends and just having fun. blaugh
Hmm...so what is your dad like with these things then? Have you tried playing the "daddy" card? ^_~

Back in middle school for the 8th grade dance she let me wear one of her dresses but it was one of those not so nice ones (though I sort of understand since it was only 8th grade) I mean I'd love to wear some of her dresses actually. But they're long skirted and I found out at the 8th grade dance that it's hard to dance in long skirts xD!!! For now before Senior year I'd like something short and girly, like lolita-ish. (into it since I'm joining a joint freebie thread, none of the pictures here accurately portray what I'd like to wear though)
I don't think that's weird at all. I used to have a dress that I ALWAYS wore when I was two or three. It was red and the cutest little thing. I always tell my mom I wish she still kept it. Plus I'm sure they'd love your dresses ^_~
Very true, xD I just don't hang out with Asians at my school, eesh bunch of judgmental gossipy gossips. I like tradition, I just don't think it's my style for prom though. I'll wear em during our New Years and Day of the Dead and when we go to the temples (haven't been there for a party in years though)
Heehee, and don't forget taking pictures! ninja
Uhm, have I tried playing his card for dress wearing or for privacy or for going to dances with just friends? xD I don't really use the "daddy" card since his word against mommy is pretty under rate. DX
I'm trying to play the daddy card for going into PACE though! I just have to convince him it's better for me (no boys, uniforms, scholarship and a 500 dollar savings bond in less than a year, classes are WAY easy, plus I secretly want the chance at being a model since they have that too) Only problem is transportation.
My mom can drop me off in the morning (school starts at 9:20 and that's ten minutes before she gets to work, I'll probably have to be dropped off early so I'm not late though) but the problem is in the afternoon. School ends at 3:20 and my dad gets off around 3:30-4:00 and the drive would make it even longer. They provide city bus passes but I'm positive my parents won't trust that.

It's worth a shot though right? What if you agreed to carry mace or something in your purse? That may make them feel more at ease.

You are most welcome! That's just because I have a bit more life experience. that's all. ^_~ As far as I know, it's fairly cheap also quite handy I'm told. I've know people that carry some with them everywhere. Just make sure if they agree to keep it in a place in your bag/purse that is easily and quickly accessible.

Haha yea. I was daydreaming (like always) and I wanted to make a joke to my friends if they annoy me or do anything inappropiate (both fairly common) I'll tell them I'll get my mace on them but pretend I'm looking through my bag and exclaim "What good is mace when I can't find it! I'd have been raped by now!!!"
Ahh, weird friends...
