The mare walked sedately along, mindful of her long mane, and lifting her heavy tail braid as much as possibly. She stayed on the dry grass; not that the dirt tracks were muddy, or damp, but the dust would be raised by her hooves, and cling to her black hair.
It wasn't that Aishwarya was overly vain, far from it really. She knew she had exotic looks, but they weren't used to any kind of advantage, it was just how she looked. But, she was on her way to the Kawani Village, and the more tangled and dirty mane and tail were, the longer it took the human to sort out the tangles.
She stopped, pausing to look at a small flock of swallows, flying quickly on the air, darting about to catch the insects on the air. She shook her mane away from her hooves and carried on walking.

The young colt could hardly believe the situations he had found himself in lately. Ever since the day that he had gone home without Etoile she had been putting him through training. She claimed that it was simply to make him a more realistic character.
Standing on a wobbly log with a crown of flowers balanced atop his head made him wonder if she was just trying to punish him though. He moved unsteadily from one side to the other doing his best to keep his balance while maintaining a graceful pose. He had found that he was incapable of doing both at the same time. On his third trip across he did his best to hold a beautiful pose and found himself lying on the ground with his feet in the air seconds later.
He grumbled a little as he rolled over imagining that no one could ever do both. As he stood he saw movement not far from where he was. Dark purple eyes went wide as he watched in awe. Whoever it was moved beautifully. "A real princess..." Unsure of what to do Fionn moved from his spot to follow after the beautiful creature. If only he could learn to move like that, maybe his sister would be pleased.

Aishwarya realised she was being followed not long after the colt started to do so. She slowed her pace, flicking her mane and giving a quick glance back at the following foal. She continued to walk for a way, before turning on her hooves, kicking her tail braid behind her and flicking her trailing mane out of the way.
'Hello.' she said, looking at the young male.
'Are you lost or something?'
It was funny how seeing a foal made one think of your own children..she hoped both Nivriti and Nituna were well.

He hadn't noticed her slowing until he discovered that he was steadily growing closer to the mare. The closer he got, however, the more he found himself unable to move away or even stop. When she turned he finally came to a halt just to watch.
His eyes went impossibly wide to see such elegance in real life. His little heart skipped a beat. There was no doubt in his mind, she was the genuine article and he found that he had been struck speechless by her. To great her he gave a dainty and polite bow of his head just like his sister had taught him to do.
"N...no, milady." He said finally his voice coming out a bit awkwardly, just above a whisper. At the moment he was wishing that he had paid a little more attention to his sister's lessons.

Aishwarya smiled at his impeccable manners, remembering how polite Nivriti had been as a child, and how rough and tumble Nituna had been. He seemed quite dainty for a colt, holding himself in a slightly feminine manner.
She tilted her head as she regarded him, the jewellery at her forehead making the slightest of jingling noise as she did so.
'Well then, was there something you wanted?' she asked, in an encouraging tone of voice, noting his nerves.
'And please, it's Aishwarya, don't need to be so formal.'

The tinkling sound drew his eyes upward and for a moment he entertained the thought of wearing something as she did. Even in his imagination he decided it would look awkward on him. Fionn sent the thought away and lowered his gaze to look upon her face once more.
"Well...you see...that is..." He took a deep breath and feel silent. It was not very princess like to stand there stammering like a buffoon he was sure. What was appropriate to say though? Asking permission to just watch her sounded quite odd he also couldn't bring himself to ask her for instructions.
"M-milady Aishwarya..." He started finally, shifting his weight slightly out of nervousness. "I h-h-humbly request the answer to a question...if that is alright?" He didn't give her time to answer. It was impolite behavior but he knew that he'd loose his nerve if he were to wait. "Howdoyoumovesogracefully?"
Oh the horror. His head dropped slightly in shame. It had all come out rushed in one breath by accident.

'Go on,' Aishwarya said, when he'd paused the first time. She wondered what was making him so nervous, she didn't think she looked scary at all?
'Of course you can ask a question..' she did in fact just about manage to get her reply out before he spoke his next words in a swift jumble, and she shook her head a little.
'I'm sorry, I didn't really get what you said just then. Take a deep breath,' she smiled at the colt. 'And say it slowly this time, I promise you, I don't bite.'

He had figured as much but tried not to let his fairly to communicate properly bother him. Doing just as she suggested he took in a deep breath to gather himself before making another attempt at his question.
"Milady...I...I was wondering...how is it...that you move so gracefully?" His voice shook slightly as he spoke but not to a degree that it would make comprehension difficult. One day he hoped that he would be able to speak with more confidence in situations like this. His ability to do such a thing, after all, would please his sister greatly.
Taking in a few more calming breaths he worked to calm his nerves while awaiting the ever important answer, if there was one. There just had to be some secret to moving like that. There had to be.

Aishwarya waited, moving a front leg, the bangles that rest on the feathers jingling a little, as she waited for the colt to arrange his thoughts and speak calmly.
'I have a question for you first, before I answer yours.' she said, a smile on her face.
'Why is it you wish to know? It would, after all, be the first time I've ever been asked that by any colt; what do you hope to learn?'

His face fell a little at bit at her question. Was it really that strange for a colt to want to be graceful? Even if it was, did it truly matter? To him, he decided, it did not. βI want...to move like you.β He said slowly. βIt will...help greatly in my training.β
He chose not to elaborate further on what the training was. Not out of shame but in knowing that speaking too much was not a good thing.

Aishwarya noticed that his expression seemed to falter and she arched a brow questioningly.
'Your training? What kind of training would that be then little one?' she needed to know first before she answered as she had a feeling her answer might not be to his satisfaction. There was no great mystery behind why she moved as she did, other than habit from having such a long tail and mane to accomodate.

She had asked so he no longer had a reason not to answer. Still, he hesitated ever so slightly. "Training to be a better princess Milady." He replied managing to keep himself from stuttering on any of the words.
He gave his head a little bow before turning away from her to demonstrate his walk. His eyes were focused as he moved away from Aishwarya and then back towards her. His movements were stiff and rather awkward, his eyes continuously drifted down towards the ground to see where he was stepping. Over all it was far from a picture of elegance.
"I believe...that moving right may be the key..."

'A Princess you say?' Aishwarya replied, managing to keep her response sounding as if it was very common and not the least bit surprising that a young male Soquili was training to be something that only little girls might imagine themselves to be. He seemed very sensitive, and any kind of small ridicule from her, no matter if it was by accident would probably be taken badly.
'You look more awkward because you're worrying about your hooves, and you keep glancing at them. Makes you stand out more.' she suggested.
'Though I can't say that there is any great secret to how I walk, it's just a habit born from practice. I walk in a way that saves me treading my tail and mane into the ground.'

He was pleased that she didn't seem shocked by the type of training he was taking part of. It seemed that any time he met someone outside of his family there was a 50/50 chance that they would find him very strange. It was a small relief to him that she seemed to be a part of the side that didn't find him to be a freak of nature.
He looked awkward because of how he looked down?
His gaze traveled from her long mane and tail to his own short hair as she continued. He was still young and imagined that one day he might have some hair to avoid stepping on. For the moment he couldn't really form any habits pertaining it. It left him with a problem.
"Milady...I don't have enough hair to need to avoid it and if I don't look down...I fear I'll never know if I'm doing it correctly."

Aishwarya kept her composure, still not wishing to cause the colt any sort of discomfut, or mortification. She wasn't one to ridicule but was hard pressed not to question the motives behind his wish to be a princess.
'Walking should be as easy as breathing.' she said with a soft smile. 'It's because you're worried about how you appear that you are finding it awkward. If you think elegant, and get into that mindset you might find that you glide along without thinking of it, and without looking at your hooves all the time.'
