Tahki was , once again , caked in mud. She'd been exploring around the marsh areas and once again ended up mud covered. It was hard to make out her fur coat with all that brown covering her head to toe but she didn't care. Probably most of the lions around the pride probably thought she WAS brown.

Ah well, she couldn't care less. Right now she was on a mission to find those pesky lizards central command and destroy it. Not an easy task but a lions gotta do what a lions gotta do.

And, her progress thus far, no lizards. The female cub hadn't come across even a small sign of a lizard. This hunting was getting tiresome.

Chane, ever watchful for his next meal, was rooting around when he spotted a small brown creature moving through the grass. He couched down low, trying to get closer without giving away his presence. A noisy endeavor for the inexperienced hunter.

It was just the right size for a decent meal. A little chubby, maybe it wouldn't be able to run fast. Just what sort of animal was it anyways? He stopped, trying to get a better view. It looked uncomfortably familiar whatever it was...

Tahki was blissfully unaware at the watching eyes of the lion or that she was considered for something else... like food. Nope the little cub just happily went on her merry little way with out a care or thought of danger. The worst danger she'd been in was nearly drowning. Nothing lion related.

Her mind right now was on one thing. Lizards. The sneaky little bastards were every where and no where at the same time. Damn them. She'd destroy one before her 'scouting' route was done.

After a few moments of staring it hit him. The small brown creature was a mud soaked lion. A cub at that. He sighed and stepped out of the bushes. Cubs were probably one of the few things he wasn't afraid of. As he grew closer he noticed something else. It was covered, no, caked in mud. So much mud that he wasn't even sure the cub was really brown.

This concerned him. Who was taking care of this child? Anyone? He was having a hard enough time on his own as it was he couldn't imagine trying to make his way as a cub.

"Hello," his voice was soft and nervous. It wasn't so much that he was afraid, he just didn't want to make a fool of himself.

Tahki at first didn't know where the voice was coming from. Was this some sort of trick put on by the lizards? She growled, though, on her it just didn't seem threatening.

The growl quickly died, however, as she turned to face another lion. Tahki's jaw dropped some. How long had he been there? Why hadn't she smelt him?

"H-hi!?" She took a step forward, her neck arched up looking at the big lion before her.

(( That's a good question, actuality. XD! The way Chane's been taking care of himself he probably reeks! ))

The larger lion lay down, paying no mind to the mud, so he could be at eye level with the young stranger. The growl, far from intimidating had been downright adorable. Had he been that sweet as a youngster?

"What are you doing out here, all by yourself?" his voice gentle and caring. "All covered in mud too. Where's your parents?"

(( Poor Chane D =))

Tahki smiled when the larger lion laid down. He wasn't scary at all. Tahki batted at the air in front of Chane's maw playfully. She was a playful cub after all.

"My mom's back at the den, " She smiled up at the larger lion, "Im hunting lizards. Im a great warrior and warriors don't worry about mud." She puffed her chest out proud.

"They don't, do they?" Chane said with an easy laugh. "Even when the mud's so thick it pulls at your paws and holds you down? I'd have to imagine that even a great warrior has to pay her respects to a power like that."

He'd only run into it once, when the rain had come down so hard that it had turned the earth in his pen into a thick muddy mess. He'd been taken into the home proper that year. The next year there'd been straw on the ground and better shelters in place.

Tahki's chest was still puffed out. The lion simply shook her head no.

"A great warrior of the swamp lives with the mud," She explained her voice matter of fact, "If I worried about it here then I'd never get anything done."

Tahki giggled and looked up at the lion ,"You're not from around here are you? I have to warn you, if you have anything to do with the evil lizards I am a trained warrior," The cub got down in pounce position, her butt wiggling in the air.

He sat up as he shook his head no. He was neither native to the region nor had anything to do with her evil lizards. Her statement, however, did bring up one very important question, "What's a... 'swamp'?"

He glanced around trying to figure out the answer even before she spoke. Could it be... just a fancy word for mud and lots of it?

Tahki lifted a brow, was he serious? Even a cub knew what a swamp was. Though, Tahki wasn't familiar with many things out side the swamp her self. If she ever left the lion would be just as clueless as Chane seemed to be.

"Are you retarded?" The cub wasn't shy at all, nope , got right to her point. Part of that had to do with her innocence though. The blue white cubs brilliant pink eyes focused on the strange lion. Was he serious?

"Your.. In the swamp right now," The cub spoke in a way a younger kid does when they try to explain things to adults. "All the mud and water together and the trees, its home." The cub shrugged and blinked at the lion.

(Chane is SO cute ; wink

"Are you retarded?" Coming from such a small cub it just didn't carry the weight it normally might have.

He glanced back out at the scenery. The savannah and the outskirts of the jungle he'd remembered from when he was a cub. This swamp though, was all new too him. "Huh," he muttered. "the swamp is the land you live on."

It made sense now.

Tahki nodded, "Yeah, you're speaking to a GREAT EXPLORER and WARRIOR mister." She puffed out her chest, " and on the side I like to take care of the local lizard problem too ~ . Welcome to the swamps."

The small cub was very proud of the lands she lived in. She was very proud of all the lions and creatures, minus the lizards of course. Those could be real bastards.

"So, what about you sir big lion who didn't know what a swamp was?"
PostPosted: Thu Sep 10, 2009 12:41 pm

The local lizard problem? What on earth did these lizards get into? He blinked but didn't say anything. This was probably something else obvious for a swam dweller.

"I suppose I'm just a wanderer for the time being," he admitted. "Not sure where I'm going." Wasn't all sure where he'd been either. Oh well. As time went on things were getting easier.

Tahki looked up at the lion and tilted her head. He was strange compared to the adults she knew.

"The swamps are only for the brave." She paced a bit back and forth as she eyed this big lion, "You gotta be tough and ready to take on all lizard kind," The cub continued her pacing, "If you aren't a great explorer or warrior I recommend you pass through as quickly as you can. Other wise the lizards may capture you," Tahki frowned.

Vivid imagination was an understatement.
