THE WORLD R:2

User Image

A quick word from the lovely Magnificent Dustmop:

If you haven't already noticed, I don't like making role plays. So you must know that if I go out of my way to make one, I don't want it to die. I know most of you aren't familiar with the series but the plot is pretty simple when you strip away all the fanciness.

I suggest browsing through here when you have the time, it's a really informative site and that's where I got all those pretty images from.

:RULES:

-I am the dark lord and master of this RP. Anything I say goes.
-Follow the TOS, keep it PG 16. Sex has not been programmed into The World, and cybering will result in a ban-hammer to the face.
-This RP will of course have some action, so no god moding/auto hitting/whatever. This is a MMORPG so PKing is allowed, but don't over do it.
-Be semi-lit, don't use *'s, and keep OOC in (()) or [[]] or anything similar.
-PM all profiles to me. Title them "Welcome to the World".
-No more than two characters to start, prove to me that you can handle that and you can have as many as your little heart desires.
-Highlight the 5th rule to see what you should title your message.
-I'll add to this later.

Since it's creation, the popular online game The World has always been the target of mass viruses and attacks, the likes of which have actually threatened to destroy the internet and today's technology dependent civilization. Fortunately there have always been heroes, brave players who put their actual lives on the line to destroy these threats, but what happens when the threat is the players themselves?

The year is 2017 and The World is still CC Corp's number one MMORPG. The net crisis is over, there are no more viruses and more improvements are being added everyday. The players should be happy, but they're not. Lately tension has been arising between the human and beast players, each faction being unofficially lead by a strong player with mysterious motives. Since these two players came to power, the amount of PK (player killing) has sky rocketed, and seeing a gimick, CC Corp has announced a massive PK tournament, pitting the two races against each other for profit.

:The Two Races:

Humans: "They are an ancient race said to be the true descendants of the elves. Many humans have a tendency to look down on the beast tribe because of their primitive way of thinking and technology. The animosity between the two races has caused strife in the past. All humans have very average abilities and are capable of doing just about anything. They are highly adaptable and able to handle all kinds of obstacles that come to them."

Beasts: "Beasts are a race of creatures with the body of a human, and the head and tail of an animal. They place a high value on the technology and culture from ancient times, and tend to resist innovations. As a result, steam technology has yet to spread in their cities. Beasts are separated into three tribes that are differentiated by their appearances and abilities. Although beasts possess amazing abilities and skills in some areas, they are also often extremely vulnerable in others. They pose fierce united fronts with their tribe to overcome these vulnerabilities."

Character Classes:

Blade Brandier: Blade Brandiers are warriors who fight with one-handed swords like rapiers and katanas. They are average in strength and speed and are good at adapting to various situations.

Edge Punishers: Edge Punishers are a job class that prefers to wield giant swords. A blow from one of these weapons has enormous power. It can slice most enemies in half with a single strike.

Lord Partizans: Lord Partizans wield a giant lance. No other class can match its piercing power. They have high defensive power compared to other classes, but are weaker against magic and are very slow.

Twin Blades: Naturally Twin Blades wield two short swords. Their attacks are somewhat weak, but quick and easy to combo. Twin Blades have high agility and attack with two short swords. Their rapid attacks leave no opening for an opponent to counterattack.

Flick Reapers: Flick Reapers wield ENORMOUS scythes. They specializes in attacks meant to keep multiple enemies away. However, they are ineffective at long range. (But still look bad-a**.)

Harvest Clerics: Harvest Clerics are experts in healing magic and are allied with the light spirits. They wield a staff in battle. They can use some attack magic after they reach a certain level, but most concentrate on healing and support magic.

Shadow Warlocks: Shadow Warlocks are experts in attack magic and are allied with the dark spirits. They always carry a book of spells known as a Grimoire to heighten their magic power. Although they can use some healing magic, their repertoire is limited and not very efficient.

Macabre Dancers: A strange class, they fight with fan-like weapons in a battle style similar to dancing, and are also proficient in magic.

Steam Gunners: Steam Gunners fight with guns and bayonettes. They are better suited to long range attacks but if necessary their guns can be used as powerful melee weapons which keep most enemies away.

Tribal Grapplers: Tribal Grapplers are melee fighters that use brass knuckles and gauntlets as weapons. They are very fast but have extremely weak defenses.

Adept Rogues: Unlike other classes, its users do not specialize in a single weapon, or form of combat, instead they are ultimately capable of using up to three different weapon types, though only strong, high-level players have access to all three.

:Accepted Profiles:

My username is Magnificent Dustmop, but in The World I'm known as Curry. My PC is a female Adept Rogue (more specifically, Tribal Grappler, Harvest Cleric and Blade Brandier) and I'm allied with the humans.

I've been told that I'm laid back, somewhat funny and much more serious than my business partner Lotto.

In The World I am a self proclaimed jack of all trades, my services ranging from hitman to rare item hunter to 'professional victim', whatever my client wants. I've been playing The World for a long time and after a while killing monsters gets boring so I decided to offer my skills to anyone in need, for a nominal fee of course.

I think this 'war' is kind of a stupid idea, but I'll look at it as just a competition and a way to score more clients.

This is my PC, you'd better not steal my look. [Curry, Cleric staff]

**********************

My username is Magnificent Dustmop, but in The World I'm known as Lotto. My PC is a rather sexy male Blade Brandier and I'm allied with the humans, but I've been helping both sides for my own personal reasons.

I've been told that I'm cold and mysterious, but that's just an act I put on for fun. If you really get to know me you'll see that I'm witty, cocky and a tad bit childish.

In The World I am Curry's partner in crime and an informant by trade, though I also run betting pools for the arena and own a harem. I've been playing this game since the very beginning so I'm very knowledgeable about every aspect of it.

I think this 'war' is a good way to make money. Ever since the announcement I've tripled my profit providing weapons, body guards, mercenaries and secrets to both factions.

This is my PC, you'd better not steal my look. [Lotto]

Oh, I almost forgot! I have a secret, but I can't tell you just yet.

**********************

My username is Ookami_Oshima, but in The World I'm known as Kisake or Kisa. My PC is a female edge punisher and I'm allied with the beasts.

I've been told that I'm sarcastic, cold, rude, loud, talkative and lazy.

In The World I am an informant. Meaning I figure out easy ways around the games and sell the info to the suckers I call customers. When that's not going so well, I spend my time hunting rare items. Gotta make a living somehow I suppose. Well, I started playing the original "World" five years before it was destroyed, and have been playing this new version ever since.

I think this 'war' is as stupid as my customers. I swear, violence really isn't the answer. So what if I'm anti-violence, the world would be a lot better if we all just got along. you know?

This is my PC, you'd better not steal my look. [Kisaki]

Oh, I almost forgot! Tsume and I stick together, for protection.

**********************

My username is Ookami_Oshima, but in The World I'm known as Tsume. My PC is a male tribal grappler and I'm allied with the beasts.

I've been told that I'm hot-headed, cocky, stubborn, rude, bossy, violent, and tense.

In The World I actually work for Kisa, though by now it's less a job and more a friendship. She does pay me to stick with her and protect her though, so that's what I do. I protect her to the best of my ability. I've been part of the whole World 'series' (meaning one and two), about three more years than Kisa. So seven years in the original "world" and the entire time in this new version.

I think this 'war' is very entertaining. Better than absolutely nothing going on right? At least there's something happening in the world.

This is my PC, you'd better not steal my look. [Tsume] [My Claws]
I wear a kimono usually.

Oh, I almost forgot! I do have a crush on Kisa, but I won't let her know.

My username is Magnificent Dustmop, but in The World I'm known as Istaqua. My PC is a male Edge Punisher and I'm allied with the beasts.

I've been told that I'm rather intimidating and always ready to fight, but once you get to know me you'll find that I'm really not that scary. I'm a little loud and boisterous but people say it's part of my charm. Let this old man have his fun.

In The World I am the unofficial leader of the beast faction and the current Emperor of the Sage Palace arena. I was once a feared PK but eventually I saw the error of my ways and turned my attention towards training teams for the arena. I started the PK tournament, CC Corp just made it official.

I think this 'war' is just what we needed. If these fools want to fight each other, why not make it an all out competition?

This is my PC, you'd better not steal my look. [Istaqua]

Oh, I almost forgot! My loyal fans seem to think I'm some sort of net activist who's standing up for the beasts and trying to protect them from discrimination, so I tend to act like that in public in order to keep up appearances.

My username is Techieninja, but in The World I'm known as Damain Niles. My PC is a Male Adept Rogue, with specialties in the Edge Punisher, and Blade Brandier and I'm allied with the humans.

I've been told that I'm both funny and annoying at the same time. Apparently, I make jokes out of everything, and my upbeat personality lifts most people up, but annoys some others.

In The World I am an adventurer. (Big Shocker) I specialize in fighting, but I'm pretty good at stirring up information, and can stimulate stagnant scenarios.

I think this 'war' is Interesting. A nice little war stirs up the blood, and breaks up the monotony.

This is my PC, you'd better not steal my look. Me with my little sword. And dude, why does some chick have my sword?

Oh, I almost forgot! Nevermind! mrgreen

Curry sprinted through the dungeon, taking out the weak leveled monsters with a few well aimed punches. Soon enough she reached the final floor and according to her map she was two rooms away from the treasure. She let out a laugh. This was one of the easiest jobs she'd had all month. Just as she was about to enter the last room she spotted a treasure chest and kicked it open. Instead of the normal ping and notification that she'd received an item, she heard someone howl before her headset filled with static and the screen turned to snow, much like it would if you'd tried to watch a TV channel you didn't get.

Back in the real world, the girl let out an angry grunt and slammed her controller down on the desk, causing everyone around her to pull down their headsets to take a look at who'd caused the disruption. She wished she had her own computer so she didn't have to play the game at this crummy internet café, but that wasn't going to happen anytime soon so she returned to the problem at hand. This was the fifth glitched box she'd opened this week, and the attacks were just getting stronger. She sighed and logged back in to The World, annoyed that she'd have to redo the dungeon again if she wanted to get paid. At the sight of a banner advertising an upcoming arena melee between the two factions she sighed. This whole thing was getting way out of hand.

Kisa had just finished with the last dungeon, and had remembered the secret passageways, and easy ways around fights. Not saying that she avoided fights, keeping her level low. She had a reasonably high level, and could kick those monster's butts any day. She just wasn't always up to a battle. Just like in Pokemon, she never walked through the grass, even though she could kill every damn thing that popped up every five seconds. Either way she had made it through, with her trusted Tsume right behind her. He had actually fought off all the monsters she had accidently disturbed. She was glad of it too, she didn't have time, she had to get the secrets quickly before someone else did, or her customers decided not to go. "What an epic win for us, don't you say Tsume?" Kisa asked turning to her trusted partner.

Tsume looked up, as he was looking at the ground while, in real life acessing his MySpace. "What? Oh, yes...Of course, aren't they all?" Tsume said with a chuckle. He need to stop by a shop to be healed and such, or find a Harvest Cleric to help him out. Tsume then asked Kisa, "You don't mind if we go into 'town' do ya? I mean, I need a break from all of these dungeons."

"Oh fine...whatever you say, it's your pay check we're talking about here," Kisa said with a yawn as she began walking off. As she walked on she then began to walk backwards so she could talk to Tsume, "So...this war thing, what do you think of it?"

"Well, just like in the real world, you gotta have it I guess....It keeps this place interesting though, without it, it's just dungeon after dungeon," Tsume mumbled as he too yawned due to her yawning. His ears perked up as he looked around, could've sworn he heard something, but he ignored it, as they made thier way to a Chaos Gate. "Sigma server, alright Kisa?" Tsume had some buddies currently there, and one was actually a Harvest Cleric.

"Alright," Kisa said in response with a nod as they approached the Chaos Gate and disappeared, reappearing at the Chaos Gate in Sigma server.

Feeling defeated, Curry logged into Mac Anu. The Delta server was mostly for newbies but she'd always liked the view from water and the elaborate cathedral-like buildings, so she made this root town her base of operations. Not long after she started drifting off into the beautiful scenery a voice from behind her quickly brought her back.

"Hey, so how was today's gig?" Lotto asked, but the expression on Curry's face when she turned to look at him said it all. "Well, thems the breaks, kid. Try again tomorrow I guess." he said, then suddenly looked down, as his player took off his headset to check his real life schedule. After about a minute he returned with a triumphant smile. "I can go with you if we go before eleven, and I've got a nifty little program that'll automatically destroy any non-organic glitches it detects." he said, running a hand through his long black hair coolly.

Curry grinned. Lotto always had some crazy, sometimes illegal trick up his sleeve. "I'll get up early then." she said, not really interested in why it had to be that time. She actually didn't know much about him besides the fact that he was really a guy who worked long hours and was two hours ahead of her timezone-wise, but she didn't really want to know about his personal life anyway.

Tsume appeared in Breg Epona, the root town of the Sigma server. This server of course had some of the strongest monsters, and wasn't really a place for beasts like them. Since the town was a last resort weapons factory for the humans when they fought the beasts. The place had pretty much humans, very few beasts. Tsume's friend was a human, but hey, they were friends in the real world as well, so the "historic conflicts" in the game wouldn't be taken seriously, as some player do. These of course are players that take the whole game too seriously, and otherwise, have no life.

Kisa always did like this server, she liked the design, how the city was amongst the clouds and such. It was always so cool to her, though her favorite server was actually the Theta Server, since mostly other beasts lived there she felt safer, not worrying about the spaz human players that felt the need to kill other players if they were beasts, just for the sake of a stupid story. The world was full of nut cases. The real, and digital that is. Kisa looked to Tsume and said, "Now let's hurry and find your friend and get out of here..." Kisa was afraid of getting her player killed, that why she had Tsume in the first place. Though she was high enough to be able to kill most of the n00bs that killed other players, she was still concerned.

Tsume looked to Kisa and laughed a little, "Will you chill out? I got you covered, so you're safe with me, Kisa." Tsume then began to walk off to find his friend who was currently messaging him to tell him where to find him. Tsume could spot one of those looney player killers a mile away, at least that's what he thought. To him any human players that took the story that seriously and killed off the other race, were just trying to find a good excuse to be racist, even though it was only a game. Plus the supposed war between the two races was over and done with, but, really some nerds just took it too seriously.

Istaqua appeared at the Sigma chaos gate, having just finished a rather lengthy solo quest. It wasn't long before somebody recognized him, and soon he was being followed by a small crowd of players, eager to get a glimpse of the arena champion and so-called 'leader of the beasts'. He chuckled just thinking about it. As he approached the item shop to sell off some of the loot he looked back and the crowd quickly dispersed. "Huh, am I really that intimidating?" he wondered out loud, then shrugged and returned to his business.

As the two walked on they saw an items shop, of course Kisa was eager to hurry up and do something fun, rather than spend hours searching for Tsume's friend. "Tsume, I'll buy you something alright? Let's just get you healed and get out of here." She then began walking towards the items shop, without hearing or caring about Tsume's opinion anyways. As she grew closer to the items shop she saw another beast there, but this one looked very familiar. Now where have I seen this guy. Kisa shrugged as she approached the counter as well and was being helped by another clerk.

Tsume sighed, he'd rather not waste money. His friend could heal him for free, but he followed Kisa, since he had to stay with her anyways. As he arrived at the items shop he noticed another beast, but he knew this guy. I mean, he didn't know him personally but he knew who he was. It was Istaqua, the lord of the beasts, or something like that. Tsume gasped as he stood a few feet behind the guy, and just had a look of awe planted on his face. It was him, in the flesh...the digital flesh. As he stood there a crowd of people also began to gather, these were the ones that had run off when he turned around, but his back was turned again so they all felt safe to approach him.
As Kisa bought a few items she turned to see Tsume standing, awe-struck, "What's wrong with you Tsume?" She looked from him to the guy he and a crowd were gazing upon. She knew he seemed familiar, but obviously he was important too, and not just to her, but to a lot of people. Kisa looked the guy up and down as he was buying items as well, and looked to Tsume, "Who is that guy anyways?"

Tsume gasped when she even dared to ask. "What do you mean?" He whispered, "That's the great Istaqua! He's like some sort of activist, like the Martin Luther King Jr. of The World." Tsume looked to Kisa and added, "What are you? Stupid?" His gaze then returned to Istaqua.

Damian Niles walked along the paved streets of a rather large port city. He'd been playing for about an hour, and was finding it rather boring. Few people wanted to fight, knowing that he was an Adept Rogue, and the few that did accept were sent back to the real world with a big knife through the mid-section as a farewell presant. A majority of the people who refused to duel him were present at the duels that he had won. He was starting to wonder if he should purposefully lose one or two to win more.

((Sorry I didn't reply earlier this week like I said I would, I had a lot of things going on.))

Lotto was about to say something to Curry but then paused as he suddenly heard the ping that notified him of a new message. He held out his hand and a second later a small holographic blue screen was floating in front of him. He muttered to himself as he read and then quickly shook his head. He turned to Curry. "Damn, something just came up, I gotta split. Catch you later my spicy little mama." he said with a grin, causing Curry to roll her eyes.

"What an unoriginal nickname..." she muttered as Lotto logged out. Great, now what was she supposed to do? She didn't have anything else to do in the real world today and she had planned to just stay online through the afternoon, but her schedule was clean. "Oh well," she said aloud, and shrugged, "I guess I can be a normal player today." After a few minutes of wandering around, she saw a white haired swordsman who she'd recognized from a recent tournament she'd fought in.

"Hey, you!" she shouted, running up to him, "Wanna form a party?" She was feeling rather bold- afterall, who wouldn't want to form a party with a gorgeous scantily clad blonde? Plus, as a former Sage Palace Emperor she had quite the reputation.
