The day was cloudy and full of the promise of rain. The dark clouds hung low, obviously heavy, the air was thick with the scent of the promised downfall and thunder rumbled every once in a while. Usually foals would stick close to their parents during rain, but not Jaloo. Jaloo wanted to just run in puddles, catch drops on her tongue and get dirty. Her brothers were off with their parents and grandpa napping probably and she'd sneaked out and was down by the river.
Of course, they didn't live to far from the river, but that wasn't the point. Looking into the clear water, she saw schools of fish and grinned. Steadying herself, she put her face into the water and tried to snap at them, just goofing off. Never would Jaloo dream of actually getting a fish, and she didn't. When she pulled her head back up, her bright blue eyes looked for more fish to snap at until a streak of lightening lite the sky.
The little filly jumped and whirled around, trying to see where it'd come from. "Can I even catch that light?" She murmured to herself. You can do anything! Her father's word echoed through her head and she grinned a bit wider. "Come on, light! Flash again!" This time, she was going to chase it. See where it had come from and run to see if it would show up there again!

Racardo's golden yellow pelt looks murky in the darkness that loomed around him and his family. He looked to his brother, he would as always have to show no fear and be the example. A sharp cunning smile flashed upon his face and his winked at his youngest brother before running off towards the lake. He hadn't intended for his brother to follow, as always he was happy doing his own thing.
The lake was so close to his home that he could already see it, but what really interested Racardo was how the streams and rivers that flowed into it seemed to rise up when ever there was rain. His parents had taught him well, and he knew that the close atmosphere and heavy clouds was the warning of heavy rain. This time he wanted to make sure he didn't miss the fumbling sight. Water had always fascinated him, just as the starry sky fascinated his mother Estelle, perhaps he was drawn more towards the earth than to the sky? It was a curious thought but being a foal he was sure that everything would become clear as he grew up.
Stopping at the edge of the lake as two streams rushed towards it ever more he allowed himself to look around. It was suprising still, all the creatures of the forest must have sensed the change in the weather also as they seemed to be safely tucked away in anticipation, perhaps he too such return? Shaking his head the familar cunning grin peeled upon his face a plan started to form, a den! He would build a den to shelter him from the rain but a place that he could venture to time and time again. Excitment bubbled up within him as he leaped towards a floppy looking willow. Experience with his brothers had told him that they made a good place to hide as their thin heavy branches cascaded all around till they reached the ground.
He eyed his spot, circling slightly as his plan seemed to take shape. He needed a door.
Slowly Racardo took several of the thin branches in his mouth and pulled them to one side before attempting to wrap them around other branches so that they could not simply flop back. It took three attempts but finally he managed it. Happy with his achivement he trotted with his head held high into his newly formed den. It was snug, but he needed to make a soft bed of leaves to lie on.
Tail wagging he leaped forward once more leaving the den when suddenly FLASH CRASH! The sky lit up, a mighty bolt of light thundered above him and suddenly he found his legs shaking and trembling with fear, surely only the Gods could make such a thing happen! Had he some how angered them? Fear consumed the young foal as he began to run, tears welling up in his eyes as he ran. Onwards he went, and soon he found himself to be quite lost and alone. What a foolish little foal he had been!
Suddenly he collapsed to the floor, not noticing a filly near by and continued to cry. How would he ever find his way home if he had angered the Gods??

Something collapsed next to her, she'd heard a thud after the thunder rumbled and shook the ground under her hooves. Blinking, her bright blue eyes settled upon a colt just sprawled out. Mouth dropping open, Jaloo moved it as if to say words, but nothing came out. Nothing would come out. Except a yelp as lightening flashed with a loud boom of thunder. Ok, that was not the coolest thing she'd ever done. Nor was it the best yelp; it was girlie and high pitched. Things she didn't really want to be. Shuffling closer to the colt, only after her heart stopped beating through her chest, she sniffed at him and then poked his side.
"H-hey.... Why're.... why're you crying? Boys don't cry, right?" Her brothers never cried so why should he? She'd never even seen her father cry! And he was an emotional mess! Maybe this colt was lost or something. Or afraid of the coming storm? It wouldn't be a good idea to go out in the storm if you couldn't find your way back home. She trotted around to the other side of him, trying to nudge the yellow one up onto his feet again. "C'mon, c'mon! Let's go before you have a heart attack or something!"
