Ruger was, once again, off by himself, his purple-maned head resting on his paws as his violet eyes watched a particularly pretty butterfly flutter closer and closer to him. When it finally perched itself upon his nose, he grinned in a goofy manner and jumped up. It, of course, flew away, but he took chase after it in an attempt to simply get it to land again.
After a few minutes of running through a large patch of flowers after the butterfly, he gave up and sat down to catch his breath. With a happy chuckle he waved to it as if saying goodbye to a close friend.
"Catch you later Ms. Flutterbye!" He knew how it was pronounced...just preferred it that way.

"You can talk to butterflies? She told you her name? Whoa, that's really neat!" Phoenix Shelley had gone off to investigate the romping sound. Originally, he'd intended to make sure the coast was safe so that he knew that his family would be also.
He'd already forgotten that. He was too busy amused by this lion.

Ears perk as another male speaks to him. He looks around until he spots the other and gives a big friendly smile. "Why hello there! I can sort of. But I named her myself." He stood, chuckling a bit as he padded over to the other male.
"I'm Ruger. What's your name?"

"M'Phoenix Shelley!" He still puffed out, proud that he had a name. "You named her? I bet she's happy she has a name now. What do butterflies like to talk about?"
Phoenix Shelley circled around Ruger, getting to know him by sight and smell. He immediately liked this other lion.

"I like your name! Pheonix Shelley...very cool." He laughed, patting the other male on the shoulder in a friendly gesture. "Oh my so much! You just need to take the time to listen my friend! All nature has a voice and everything is part of a giant place to play and explore!"

Play and explore? Those were two of Phoenix Shelley's favorite words! He returned the gesture with one paw, then reared up and batted Ruger in the same fashion with both his paws.
"I listen!" He protested, "But my ears don't know how to hear butterflies. Or trees. Or---anything but a lion. You have specialer ears, I guess."

"All you've got to do is pretend. Make believe you hear them, and you will!" He gave a hearty laugh as P. Shelley batted at him with both paws. He batted at the other male's ear flakes, then pulled back before pouncing and starting a wrestling match.

"OOooohh, you---Whoa!" If Phoenix Shelley had learned anything with Grinch and Ilori, it was survival skills. As long as his attention span somehow stayed where it was meant to stay, the rather large lion was good at holding and taking care of his own. If there was anything he was learning with his little girls was how to play-battle. That was lucky for Ruger as he clamped all four legs around the other male and went to chewing at whatever fur bits got near his mouth.
He would have included playful words like "Got you, got you!" like his girls did, but that wasn't at all possible as he was eating fur.

He'd give a struggle every once in a while before he'd go back to tugging at ears or ear flakes, his hind legs pinned down too well for him to wriggle free. His fore-legs were free to an extent though, so he used them to try rolling both males around. If that failed, and it did most of the time, he'd tug with his paws at other places, or bat randomly.
He'd never had this much fun before in his life.

Phoenix Shelley tussled with Ruger for a good, long while, before sitting back, panting happily. "You're real good." He commended with a nod. "What brings you here?"
Somewhere in all that, probably in thinking about how his daughters would have loved to join the wrestling, P.Shelley remembered that Ruger was on his territory. Instead of challenging him now, it was a cheerful question of companionship.

Ruger sat back, panting as well. A big smile was still plastered on his mouth as Pheonix Shelley asked him why he was there. "Oh! Well I have no true home exactly. I just travel around and meet new lions in new places. It's fun but a bit lonely sometimes."

"Oh! Well, you should stay here when you're lonely, or go up to the top of that big mountain up there. That's where Ilori stays, and Grinch, and Bowser, and Fuego... And Here is where I stay, and Aika, and Aya, and Nixxie... That's... Uhm.. That's a lot of lions so you don't have to be lonely! You're welcome to stay around here." He nodded, absolutely certain he liked this lion enough to offer his friendship to. He knew what it was to be super lonely!

"Well thank you! Your a very sweet lion Pheonix Shelley." He smiled brightly and pulled the other male into a kind of embrace other male lions would do for comradery or close friendship. "I'll remember this place. Perhaps I'll stay around a little. Though I may get the wanderers itch and just leave. So if you don't see me one day...figure I'll come back someday."

P.Shelley chuckled, "That's a hard itch to scratch." He nodded, having heard that from somewhere and liking it. It was the story of his life, really.
"Come, come! Meet Aya and Nixxie, and catch a fish, and rest, and maybe we can all venture out before resting again! Maybe Aika will come back with something. Maybe we'll have to help her hunt. Maybe Kaewyn will bring something. Every day's new!"
