Up by the Oregon Zoo is the Japanese Gardens. I think they are the prettiest Gardens in Portland. Has anyone been there besides me?

Just wanted to say the leaves are starting to turn and the weather is starting to get cooler. The Japanese Gardens are at a much higher elevation than the city and it's still freezing up there in april sometimes. If you want to see the gardens before it gets icy and stuff you should go soon.

I've never been to the Japanese Gardens, my husband and I will have to try to make it this month, would love to see the autumn foliage! Thanks for the reminder! ^_^

I've only been once. And of all the places I've been to in America, Mexico, and Canada, its my favorite place ever.

My husband and I went to the Japanese Gardens last weekend with a friend who lives up there. It was great! The leaves hadn't turned much at all so I'm not sure if I'll be able to see the fall color this year, guess I'll just hope the weather cooperates later in the month. Kinda a long shot in Oregon. lol wink
One thing about the gardens that I didn't expect were the squirrels, XD we saw about three different ones throughout the walk and one even sat on a rock and shucked a whole pine cone while we photographed her, then she crossed the path and grabbed a mushroom ate some of it, then hurriedly shoved it in a crevice of a tree and took off to find more food. On closer inspection of the photos I took I noticed her teats were bald and swollen, she was a nursing mother! whee No wonder she was in a hurry to down the calories! xd

My family went to the rose garden a few days ago (which is right next to the japanese garden)
unfortunately it was like 97ยบ and nobody felt like going to the japanese gardens except for me.. maybe some other day
