How could you tell if someone is winning?
I stare at Hikaru no Go's games, but can't tell who is winning

It's based on the territory they have captured--I'm not a Go expert, so I can't go into a lot of detail, but basically when there's a blank area on the board surrounded by one color that the other color cannot fight back and capture for themselves, it's a taken territory.
Having said that, I can never tell who's winning, either. sweatdrop

It is possible to roughly estimate the points. However, to be able to calculate to the exact amount take considerable skills and is consider very advanced for most people.
