Vera had been, without question, severely lacking in appropriately female companionship. There was just something wrong about going for months without a word exchanged with another woman, particularly one of a similar mindset. Thus it was that she determined that now, while Xeran was busy with Marko, was the perfect opportunity to cause some mischief, and get up to some trouble. Besides… she hadn’t had the chance to participate in a good gossip session in nearly a Turn. There was one person, and one person alone to go to for gossip, and she had her eye on that very lady. Not that Nandeli was hard to find, precisely. Not with her lovely golden wingwoman playing about in the shallows of the Lake.
The sight of the little queen elicited a grin from the Harper, who remembered the gentility that Reneneth had displayed on the Hatching Sands. She moved forward, deciding that the young woman who lingered nearby could be none other than Nan, and left the shady alcove that she had been sheltering under. Above her, Bell wheeled and kept an eye out for intruders. It had become entirely clear to her by this point that the blue firelizard completely ignored women in his post as her own personal miniature watch-wher. Good. She had no intention of subjecting S’van’s friend to the rather limited pleasure of her flit’s regard. “Nandeli, I presume? I’m Vera, S’van’s cousin. He’s told me much about you.” She left out her title because it seemed just a bit presumptuous to use it when addressing a goldrider.

It was hot today, but Ista heat was nothing she wasn't used to. Free time was a rarer beast, and she was currently enjoying hers by not only being lazy but also combating the heat. Seated near the edge of the lake, she was close enough that the small waves brought the water up to her knees but no further. Reneneth was enjoying the sun next to her as well as the swell that only barely covered her feet. It was nice to be able to just sit here and dream, without having to worry about lessons or chores or all the other things that seemed to take up her gossiping time. She had been itching to visit the kitchens again but Reneneth just wasn't big enough for that sort of adventure yet. Thus, she had had to settle for the laundry girls, which was a meagre substitute at best. Still, they had been tittering on about a pair of Harpers cavorting around, and Nandeli meant to get to the bottom of it. But she needed someone on the inside, and her inside people were severely lacking. It was very frustrating.
She was just drawing firelizards in the dirt with her fingers when she heard someone approach. Tilting her head back, Nandeli was surprised to find a young woman of about her age that looked vaguely familiar. No name was coming to her though, which meant they had either never met in person or she just hadn't done anything scandalous yet. But that was fine by her. She smiled at Vera, and her grin only widened when she was addressed by name and the introductions continued. S'van's cousin? No way! There was a small possibility he had told her about Vera and she hadn't been paying attention, but Nandeli doubted it. S'van probably reserved his family secrets for Kas's ears alone. She wouldn't hold it against him.
"That's me! It's a pleasure to meet you Vera! I hope what S'van has been telling you has been truthful, or at the very least bit interesting!" She patted the ground next to her in the hopes that Vera would take it as an invitation to join her. "This is Reneneth, by the way. She won't say much. What brings you all the way out here on this fine day?"
Once she had been introduced, Reneneth turned her attention away from the young woman. The gold had spotted Bell and was watching him the same way she had watched Kia. Would this one be like the bronze cousin or the green one?
