I'd like to see more of your stuff. Since you're new I'll just say that an eye all by itself is an overdone subject. As such, it can still be done well by composing to get all the eyelashes in frame and maybe using natural or what looks like natural lighting rather than the half a flash that managed to get around your camera (it has to hurt going off right in your eye anyway!)
Other than that, you have a very pretty eye and probably eyes and your complexion is very nice so I bet you'll make a good model for yourself in future photos.

If you want an eye shot, find someone with eyes that really pop out, do something cool with their hair, and have them hold a fan in fount of the rest of their face so their eyes are the only things that show. It will still be an eye shot, but it will be more interesting,(especially if you can get them to look all mysterious) and a little less over done.
