Did any of you actually expect this? Anyone? Or were you all as gobsmacked as I was/am?
I mean, whilst Oda left no real clues to suggest this at all, now that it's revealed, everything about Ace now makes sense. He uses his mothers surname as he "owes her everything" and he has no feelings for his father because they never knew each other. Also, looking at him now, whilst he does bear a striking resemblence to Luffy and Dragon, he does look a lot more like his real father than he looks like his brother.
And who else is slightly annoyed that they're not blood related? I mean, that doesn't change anything, but still...I don't know what it is, but I feel slightly sad about that. Does anyone know what I mean by that?

I know what you mean. It seem so shocking and yea I am slightly annoyed that they're not blood related. But maybe they could be. We don't really know who Luffy's mom is. There is still so much to the story and I can't wait for next week.

If it is true, I'm upset that Luffy and Ace aren't brothers, but makes Luffy's actions to save him so much more meaningful....to save a foster brother. 3nodding
I am upset too, I'm hoping it's all a roose to stop a war with Whitebeard and the Revolutionaries at the same time, but I think Garp's flashback / memory sorta kills that theory. sweatdrop

I can't believe that ace and luffy aren't real brothers, but luffy's origin isn't fully known either

Ushi Waka-Laka I didn't expect it but I was wondering if he was related to him
I can't believe that ace and luffy aren't real brothers, but luffy's origin isn't fully known either Well, we know Luffy's dad is Monkey D. Dragon, the revolutionary, but other than that, nothing. They could be cousins, but definately not brothers.

This sucks!", but bloody hell, I wasn't dissapointed! xd

And I can picture the scene for when Luffy finds out: He rins up the platform about to save Ace, and Ace shouts to him "Don't bother saving me, we aren't brothers!", to which Luffy replies "We might not be blood related, but we're still brothers, you moron!" I can just see that happening.

I was shocked when I first read it, but after the initial shock,
I thought it made sense.
I'm a little dissapointed that Ace and Luffy aren't blood brothers,
but they're both D's so they're most probably still related.
Anyone else notice when Oda first introduces Ace in the Drum Island Arc,
not exactly officially but as a person looking for Luffy,
Gol. D. Rodger's real name is revealed?
Coincidence?
