(( AIM RP between Felyn and Kimaria ))
The silver lioness had eyes of the brightest green. The colour made even more startling by the pale grey and white that mottled the rest of her pelt. Those green eyes were currently fixed on something that moved amongst the mists.
A mouse. Silky-furred, black-eyed and swift of foot.
She was practising her stalking skills on it, trying her best to keep her paws from tangling in tree roots and breaking branches. It wasn't easy but she wanted to keep practising. Her grandfather - or Babu - was currently teaching her to move as one with the land. Yes, a difficult task whilst she was still young and clumsy. But one could never start too young!
The rodent paused to groom its whiskers and she dropped to her belly, watching it, crossing her paws in front of her as if she were paying attention to something incredibly interesting.
The rodent lifted its little, pointed snout and sniffed delicately. Then, hopping back to its paws it darted down towards the nearest tree and wriggled through the tree roots until it was out of sight. Lujayn'yue knew it had its den there but she had never harmed any of them. She just wasn't that sort.
However, now that the mouse was gone, she didn't have anything to watch and, with a sigh, scrambled back to her feet, calling goodbye to it as she scuttled past, further and further away from her own den. She hadn't seemed to realise this just yet, however.

The deep red eyes of the young male gleamed dully in the darkness of early evening, the last rays of the sun dancing wickedly on the horizon in a taunt. Even so, there was no way for the pale brute to see them - all around him the mists of this land were curling up dense and dark, tendrils of fog that kept him from seeing past his own feet.
"Ugggh," he growled out in frustration, narrowing his eyes in vain. For all it mattered at the moment, he might as well be blind. There was no way he could see through the dense mists of these lands, to get farther ahead or to turn around. His entire sense of direction was lost.
Had he been more superstitious, he might have believed all the tales of ghosts and been more worried over his waltz into unknown territory. As it were, he was simply agitated at being lost and confused. There was a permanent scowl on his face as he moved blindly through the curling mist, tripping on roots and stones as he went and cursing under his breath every time he did so. It was when he heard the first sound of little paws on the ground that his fur stood on end and he remembered the tales he had heard once he started this way.
"Who's there?" he called out with a scowl, furrowing his brows as he looked blindly in the direction he had assumed the noise to come from.

Who's there?
She halted abruptly and turned her ears and then her head in the direction of the sound. Who was that? A stranger! Wow, that might be dangerous or exciting or...well...both? Yes, definitely both, she was sure of it. Snuffling a giggle into the back of her paw she turned and crept off to the right, in the direction the voice had come from.
Others her age might have been afraid, but not her. No. She'd been here for some weeks now and she hadn't seen anything bad or scary. Just other members going about their daily business. This was probably one of them, come to think of it.
And, if that lion was there and she was here, why not play a practical joke? Yes, that was quite a reasonable thing, all things considering.
She drew up to a tree and peered through the mists. She couldn't see anyone but knew she was closer than she had been. He couldn't be that far away. Then, in her most scary voice she called out:
"Whoooooo's theeeerreeeee?"
The words trailed off into a giggle that she was forced to smother into both paws.

Mach waited for some time to hear the answering call, standing there, stranded and lost in the middle of the mists with no idea where he was going or if he'd ever get out of the damned place alive. Could he really wander around in here until he starved to death, or died of starvation? Somehow, he didn't doubt it. That only made this place more horrifying, in his opinion.
Then that voice sounded and his ears flattened a little, from instint, as he first heard it. What on earth was that? He didn't believe in ghosts, so he sure as hell didn't believe this was a ghost. So it had to be some kind of mortal being, and if they were mortal, they had gotten here somehow, and maybe they knew the way out.
"Come out here and show yourself!" he called, though even for all his reasoning, his voice sounded a little less sure than before. He stared through the fog, trying to decide if he still looking in the right direction or not.

Okay. It was official. Little Lu was having a great time! The voice called back again. Come out and show herself? But where and why? She didn't know where he was so she wouldn't know where to go so he could see her. Besides, if she did that, the fun would be over and that would be a bad, bad thing!
Giggling again, quietly, she moved out from the tree and dipped closer, following the sound of the voice. It was odd, the way the mist disguised others and made their voices seem distant and echoed and very far away. But she knew he was closer now, just where exactly she couldn't be sure.
"Come out and shooooow yourself!" She howled, trying to sound scary but not doing a very good job since she trailed into giggles again. She supposed random laughter could be scary...maybe.
And then she saw something up ahead. Movement? So this was the one! A grin crawled its way across her muzzle and, with a light sniff of amusement she moved closer.
Alas, in her excitement, she forgot to watch her paws and the roots - as usual - came to tangle in her paws. She lost her footing and landed face first in the dirt, spluttering from the shock of the fall. Ouchies!! That's not fair. Why did the tree have to do that!?!

A scowl of irritation spread across his maw as his own words were returned back to him - only in a shrill, amused, annoying little voice that he knew was not his own, nor was it a simple echo. What was it then that was mocking him so? Was it one of those stupid birds that were too ignorant to do anything but spit your own words back at you? Or another lowly creature?
Just as he was about to give up on them and turn away, thinking that there was no way whatever it was he was talking to could help him, he heard the distinct sound of paws coming closer. With his eyes shrouded by the mist, he was relying heavily on his sense of sound. He strained his eyes to see what was coming towards him - something small, he figured, and was surprised when he heard the crashing sound and saw a lump tumble through the mist.
Was that his mysterious voice?
He grunted under his breath and walked over slowly (mindful of the very roots that had tripped her), until he could see who had been toying with him. "You're just a cub," he scoffed, narrowing his eyes down on her pale figure, one that nearly blended with the mist around them. He sneered to himself for thinking she could help, shaking his head. "A cub playing silly games."

He emerged from the mist, then, all shining white and red-brown eyes. Eyes that looked very unamused. Eyes that looked too serious. No one should look that serious, especially after being included in part of the game she had started...and ended when she had tripped.
It was a shame but it couldn't be helped. Never mind, there'd be another lion come by this way at some point and she could try again. Next time she'd be extra careful!
She righted herself and lifted her head to look up at him, aware of their height difference and pulling herself up onto tip-toe as if it would make a big difference.
It didn't.
"And you're just a boy." She stuck her tongue out at him and then smiled. "Are you one of the mist lions, too? Like me and my babu?" She hadn't seen him before but then again she hadn't had a chance to meet many others.

He sneered slightly when she stuck her tongue out at him, not enjoing her cub-like attitude in the slightest. He was hungry, thirsty, tired and stuck in the middle of these damned mists - he was certainly not in the mood to have a little cub teasing him or playing games with him. He should have just walked away right then and left her there, but even he wasn't heartless. He had to make sure she knew how to get home - wherever home was for the little pain in the butt.
"A mist lion?" he said with a frown, looking around him. So lions really did live in these mists, or at least somewhere near here? "No, I'm not a mist lion," he said with agitation, turnin to look back down at her again. "I'm just lost in the stupid fog here." He let his tail lash behind him to show his irritation. Was there a reason she wanted to stand here and talk to him?
"Shouldn't you be home or something? You're too young to be by yourself." At least out in the middle of these damned confusing lands.

A sneer. It certainly didn't make him look pretty. Babu never had a face like that. He was kindly and smiled and laughed a lot, just like a grandpa should! But this boy was young, younger than most she'd met anyway - and here he was acting all grumpy. Why? He was young and he was in this pretty, misty place she loved.
There was nothing to be grumpy about!
"Lost?" She echoed faintly. "That's a shame. Being lost isn't fun. I was lost once. Sad and all alone and my head hurt and...well, that's another story. But yes, my babu found me and he brought me with him. He said that I was too young to be by myself, too. But I'm bigger now. Bigger than when he found me anyways. I think I should be okay, here. Besides, no one can see me in these mists. You couldn't and if you couldn't no one else could, right?" She blinked and smiled up at him innocently. "Just gotta make sure I don't trip and I'm super, super safe! Seeee?"
She tipped an ear thoughtfully. "I'm a mist lion. So is babu. If you're not than that means you're an outsider and...well...I think that's bad. Outsiders shouldn't be in mist lion land." She nodded thoughtfully. "But that's okay because I'll keep you safe. I know this place like the back of my paw! So, if you wipe off that grumpy face and put on a happier one, I'll help you!"

He didn't want to wipe the grumpy face off and put on a happier one - she was annoying. Annoying lions made him grumpy. Her telling him to not be grumpy made him grumpy. He frowned at himself and looked away from her, considering his options. He either had to wander around for another day or more, who knew how long, and try and find his way out of these lands on his own or he could put his faith in this annoying litle blabbermouth and hope she knew what she was talking about.
"Fine," he said, letting the frown and sneer fade so that his face was relatively blank. It wasn't a happy face, but it was happier than a frown or a sneer, that was for sure. "If you would please show me how to get out of these mists, I'd be grateful." He wanted to find water, and hunt down a meal. Then he wanted a nice, long sleep.
The first thing he had to do, though, was get away from this stupid land and these stupid mists. How come they were so thick anyway? He'd never seen anything like them, especially not for such a long time. Didn't fog usually fade away?

She wore an expression that clearly said she was unimpressed with the effort he had made to put on a 'happy face'. If she were human, she would have had her hands on her hips, too. As it was, she had to make do with The Look.
"That's the best you can do?" Her whiskers twitched but, after a moment she decided to let it go. He clearly didn't know how to smile, poor boy. What a sad childhood he must have had. "Oh, come on then, since you said pleaseeee." She hopped forwards and almost lost her footing amongst the roots again. She just managed to save herself and hopped sideways to free herself.
"Oh and be careful. The trees like to play tricks too." She smiled and moved ahead. "I'm Lujayn'yue. What's your name?" She continued after a brief pause. "See, I thought you were a mist lion because, well, you're white and grey. That's the most common colour here. But there are different colours too! I've seen them. Green and brown and all sorts." She paused again. "See, these lions came from this other place. Far away. Don't know where, but apparently they felt like a move. That's what Babu says, anyways. So here they live now, all hidden and secret and stuff."
She probably wasn't supposed to be telling him all of this, but what can we say? She was a cub and she liked to chat and she truly meant no harm.
"They like mists, so that's why they chose to come here. It's pretty much always misty here. Fun though, isn't it?"

He would have snorted at her question over his expression if he wasn't sure she would have interpreted it as a bad sign and changed her mind about helping him. "Yes," he finally grunted, though he managed to keep his face calm as he did so.
"So I can see," he muttered softly as he turned to follow her, his eyes watching the roots. He walked a bit slower than her for just that purpose - so he didn't accidentally trip like she seemed to do every time she took a step. Silly little cub, with no sense in that head of hers. He'd be glad to be rid of her when she got him out of here, thankful for her help or not.
"Ah, I guess that makes sense," he said with a shrug, looking down at his own pale paws. He supposed he did look rather mist-like. If it weren't for the black stripe on his back, he probably would have blended into the mist just as well as she did. "They just felt like a move? That's why they left their old lands?" He thought she certainly had to be mistaken, or telling the tale like a child would. Maybe whoever had told her had purposefully left out some details.
"I wouldn't call it fun," he said with a huff, moving to catch up with her, though mindful of the roots.

She rolled her eyes and glanced back at him. He was right about that dark stripe. It helped keep him from being lost altogether. All she'd need to do was look for it if he fell too far away behind. She was easy to lose, though that wasn't necessarily a good thing.
"Yup! And why not? This land is much nicer. Well...I would think so, anyway. It's fun because there's lots of places to play hide and seek and there's a mouse nest, too. I go and watch them sometimes. There were babies there, but I think they all ran away. Haven't seen them for the last few days." Her ears drooped a little.
"Where are your parents, then? Why are you all alone? You're bigger than me but not as big as Babu. Are you heading somewhere? Do you have a pride, too? Like this one? Better than this one?"
She seemed quite intent on talking his ears off.

Why couldn't she show him the way out in silence? Oh, right, because cubs never shut up. He supposed in a very annoying way, the talkin was a good thing - if he fell too far behind by being weary of where he was walking, he could probably find her by her never ending jabbering.
"I never really knew my dad, my mom was a rogue, I just left when I was big enough to take care of myself and all that." He shrugged it off and looked at her. Babu was a term for grandfather wasn't it? She had said he found her, didn't she, or something like that? It was a curious story, but he wasn't going to ask about it - not and give her something else to chew his ear off about. She'd probably volunteer it anyway, if he had to guess. "I'm not heading anywhere, really, I'm just traveling. I don't live in a pride, not really looking for one."

She slowed to let him catch up a little and padded just at his side, glancing up at him. "You left? Just like that? Isn't it all lonely and sad by yourself?" She blinked. "Do you know something." Her voice had dropped a little. "I don't know my mother or father. Is that...is that normal?"
She cast a worried look up at him now. "I mean. I can't remember anything. How they look. Where they lived. Nothing. All I remember is Babu finding me and then being here." She trailed. "Sometimes I see these pictures in my sleep. During the day, too, when I'm just walking or something. Um...dreams. Yep, dreams. And I see lions in them, lions that sort of look like me but different. Older and smiling and stuff."
She paused and hopped over another large root blocking her path, once she was clear of it she continued.
"Babu says they might be memories." She shrugged. "I don't know. Do you remember your mother now?"
Yes, apparently he hadn't needed to ask.
