Alien Name: Fhilts (the sound they make when naming their species since their accompanied hand signals are to complex to translate properly)

Planet of Origin: Xz48581.kl (designated no. their planet name is a series of hand movements without sound)

Ecosystem Component: Herbivore sometimes insectivores

Base Habitat: Plains

Grouping: Community

Intelligence Level: They are almost at a parallel of human Victorian age where science is a new venture and not readily accepted and fashion is a huge trend.

Appearance: They stand on average of 9 foot due to the low gravity, with a long neck and a china doll like face. They have large eyes on the front of their heads that can range in colour from yellow, orange and brown and purple skin that ranges in shades. Their eyesight is keen when it comes to details although they are not as far sighted as humans. They have small mouths with small peg shaped teeth and their ears are long and thin, hanging downwards with a smaller pair underneath. They are bipedal, not too dissimilar to humans, and have four arms with four fingers and a thumb on each. Their skin is tougher then humans and smoother without hair. Their legs are long and the knee bends in the opposite direction to humans, while the foot is small with four toes. Their faces are not very expressive when it comes to emotion. Females are built larger and have wider hips then males who in turn have wider shoulders and can be taller. Nursing females have large milk glands on the lower belly area and they do not shrink fully after weaning, while those yet to be mothers have slight bumps if that. Their chest area is almost like insect in appearance.

Lifespan/Reproduction: They live an average life of 42 (earth) years while they become sexually and fully mature around 14 years. They have similar genital as many of the mammals of earth do and usually pair for life. They have between one and two young and gestation is 11 (earth)months to live young. Females produce milk from two glands on the lower belly and young can stand and walk from a couple of hours from birth. The young wean between 6 – 8 months. It can take up to 5 years before they master communication.

Language: Complex sign language using their four hands and high and sometimes medium frequency squeaks, whirs and clicks to add emphasise in a similar use to our different tones of voice such as anger, sarcasm, sadness ect. They have developed ‘short hand’ signs when their other hands are needed for tasks although it’s closer to slang then proper sentences. They cannot hear very low pitch and find it difficult to clearly hear some lower medium pitches.

Culture: As a people, they are sincere and peaceful. War is always the last option over talks and trade, but there have been times in their past of small wars fought over land or religion. They are very prideful and wear bright and colourful (similar to oriental gowns) clothing to show themselves off since they feel their own bodies are drab and shameful compared. The naked body is a huge taboo and even love making and bathing is done in fancy ‘costumes’ and usually in the dark. Males are more likely to be outlandish and show offs with colour and large decretive pieces compared to females who generally like to look smart, efficient and matching. It is a tradition for a family to have a certain piece/jewellery that all members wear. For ceremonies and evening wear they have painted white faces (or other colours but white is the traditional colour) and long flowing rich fabric as well as feathers, fur and scales ect made into items of clothing. These are a people who have ceremonies and celebrations for almost everything.

Due to their religion, they believe that while on the zoo ship, they have descended to the next level of the limbo, a plain between life and death where they are not wholly dead nor are they wholly alive and here they will be judged by the GateKeeper when it is their time to be tested and judged. Not many even make it this far so those here feel worthy indeed.

Tools Metal tools. Basic farm tools and carriages that use domesticated animals to pull. They had no electricity, but used oil like substance farmed from an animal for light.

Explain why they are able to walk so soon after birth if it was a development from some form of evolution? Typically, bipedal creatures are very awkward and take time to master walking, especially with rather small feet.
What sort of adaptations do they have for eating/finding sustenance?

Hey there, Sola! I have to say, your species reminds me of those Cloners from Episode II of Star Wars, with the long necks and everything. Low gravity's an 'okay' answer for their height, but what advantage did that offer them in the wild? What niche did they fill before they decided to make permanent homes for themselves?

You're always comparing them to humans, which really makes me think of them as just another type of human, but altered. Opposable thumbs, I can believe evolved on a separate planet, because of how differently that could be done. Mammary glands for milking their young? That's something a bit more unique to Earth. Think about the anatomy you've created: why do they have insect-like torsos if they're mammals? With knees bent the way they are, it'd be difficult for them not to lurch forward to balance out the weight--think of it like a T-Rex. T-Rex couldn't stand straight up, and I'm finding it hard-pressed that your species would have perfect posture with that sort of joint.

Ultimately, your entry needs a lot more "why"--why is their skin hairless and tougher? Is it because they live in a dry, temperate environment that doesn't need insulation? Why are they so peaceful? Are they isolated to one area of the planet, or have they expanded beyond their natural habitat? Tell me more about this religion they have--is it deity-based, or just stories that explain the world around them? Do they have a written language? Art? How do they express their sentience?

I love the idea of using sign language, and I think a zen-like species would be a welcome relief to the other ship-goers. Now that I've seen a rough sketch, I'd like to see what happens when you get down to the devil in the details, where we can start to pull references from your species into the shop.

perhaps one set of hands can aid in balance or walking? Just a thought, thats all.
