Of course this thread is about Manga ^_^ You can talk about your current favorite, what you're collecting, even the Rising Stars contest...-ahem- Just basically anything manga.

Right now I'm reading Azumanga Daioh, and frankly, it's hilarious XD I can definatly relate to the stupid teacher... sweatdrop Oh well.

I'm trying to get into Prince of Tennis, but so far it's working. I got the second volume today ^_^

As of right now, I'm collecting Gravitation, Eerie Queerie, Hot Gimmick, and Boys Over Flowers. Sure I'll pick up other manga here and there, but those are the main ones I'm collecting..Okay I'll shut up and let you talk sweatdrop

I might have gotten in to prince of tennis if my friends didn't completely over run it and go in to a fangril frenzy...

The only full collection I have is Mars I love that series to death and i"m not sure why.

I like tuxedo gin it's just super cute.

yeah I have a lot of manga actually but those are my favorites.

It seems tho more and more fangirls are taking over the shelves because every time I go there's always like three people blocking my way and they dont' move and normally there is a group of girl going "EEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!OMG THE LAST BOOK OF SAIYUKI" ......eeer right.....

Kill'n me but yeah! yay

Two of my favorites that I don't hear much about...

Remote: Awesome suspense story about a female cop who used to be a meter maid until she transfered to a undercover special investigations department (due to an aborted resignation). Due to her superior's complete inability to appear in public her job is to act as his eyes and ears in taking on some of the toughest cases the police have. The writing is top notch, the characters are balanced and likable, and the art suits the mood. I wish more mature manga like this would make it over.

Iron Wok Jan: Superb cooking comic. Jan Akiyama, the ill tempered grandson and successor of the downright evil master of chinese cooking in Japan, sets down the road to dominance of the chinese cooking world. His plan? To work at Gobancho, the restaurant belonging to his grandfather's top rival. The usual oversensationalized competition that you see in most japanese stories, but strangely amusing nontheless. The art is greatly amusing, especially in the way they always draw Jan as looking positively demonic. An extra bonus is the recipies they like to toss into some of the later volumes.

Lots of stuff really... lets see...

My current pride and joy is the latest issue of Berserk... mostly because Ling told me about it and we spent a few minutes squealing over it while we talking about how just trying to download it was making us shiver with anticipation (I'm buying the stuff they release here but the Japanese volumes are ahead and I had read up ahead before the series got licensed so I kind of don't want to wait). sweatdrop

After that come a whole slew of things. I'm so totally sucked into Hajime no Ippo it's not funny. I love the series and really, I don't pay much attention to the boxing anymore (though it does an amazing job at making idiots like me understand exactly what's going on and the attention to realism is great) but the entire shounen concept of finding one's self through trial and forging friendships through said trials is great. Excellent series.

Then there's Yakitate Japan! Hilarious series, great comedy relief, light hearted, just plain good. As an added bonus, it's omakes make fun of itself, the entire comic is filled with parodies and references, and even the comic itself makes fun of it's creator (he's in there as one of the judges for a competition... he's overweight and requires a truck to move himself around xd )

The center piece of my collection though will always be OMG/AMS. I love the series to death. I love the characters, I love the development, and I adore the artwork. I have every single volume released to date and it cost me a fortune but I LOVE IT. whee

Eerie Queerie manga. Hottest. Manga. Ever.

W-Juliet. Great manga. I got a poster of the series from ACen... whee DL'd a lot of it before it got liscenced, and I'm definetely going to buy it.

Gravitation. It's better than the series, in my opinion. I have the last two volumes in Japanese, and swear to GOD one day I'll be good enough to read them whee

Get Backers... I have the first three volumes... and would get more of it, but 26 volumes? I don't have the budget sweatdrop Gravitation will probably be the longest series I collect minus W-Juliet. I like short manga series, like Eerie Queerie, Forbidden Dance, Chobits (eh, 8 volumes is sorta short XP), and FLCL.

^^; I love manga. ^_^

Isn't it? whee Too bad it's so short. crying

Yeah, the manga is more in depth and I can totally feel the emotions more, after I stop laughing so hard, and it's a lot more easier to understand what's going on. I just wished they could've done it the way the manga followed it since they're the same length. Damn you rushers!

Hmm WJ and Stream, I shall look into those. 3nodding I'm always wiling to try something new! ( okay not really.. )

I need to read Get Backers. gonk But I really don't like following the crowd unless it's good..The longest series I'm collecting is Boys Over Flowers: 36 Volumes! sweatdrop I totally need to get more manga.. gonk

I'll warn you now, Iron Wok Jan isn't for everyone. Its half shonen manga and half Iron Chef... and all strange. But if you like Yakitake Japan like WJ and I, its worth looking into.

Trust me on this, Getbackers is excellent. There's a reason why it had people talking about it before it had a crowd, and a reason why it gathered such a crowd so soon after hitting the US.

I think my favorite manga series would have to be . . . Ninja High School. And I don't give a ******** if you think it has to be Japanese to be real Manga. I LIKE NHS, demmit!

The basic idea could be described as . . . what if Archie didn't suck and had many references to Japanese culture in it?

Whee! More fun!

Right now I'm in the process of collecting Ranma 1/2 (Shut up WJ xd ), Azumanga Daioh, .HACK//The Legend of the Twilight, Saiyuki, FLCL, and Chrono/Chrno Crusade.

I love Ranma... it's just so backward a** crazy. I like how inventive the characters get with things, regardless of how repetitive the "Turn anything into a martial arts contest" thing.

As for Azumanga... do I really need to explain?

.HACK is just cute, there's no other excuse. But why have they only released 2 volumes?! gonk

Saiyuki is the first Series I've collected as a show and as a Manga, and I must say I love both endlessly, save for the un-neccessary boobage in the Manga (The nipples are just sick gonk , plus the toplessness is just un-needed/called for).

FLCL - Is there another volume, or are there only two?! gonk

Finally, there's Chrono Crusade. I love this with a passion, even though there's only volume one out right now. I like how two faced Chrono is about what he is and his power, and how he and Rosette seem to honestly care for one another... I simply must have more! gonk [/fanboy]

Two of my favorites that I don't hear much about...

I like both of those.. and then a bunch of other things. As in "there's no way in hell I can remember everything."

Some of this is what I've read, some are what I'm still reading, some are have read/am collecting, some aren't exactly manga, some I started and never got around to reading more of, whatever [and yes I had to use the Tokyopop website to remember most of these]:
Pokemon Adventures Yellow Caballero, Saiyuki, FLCL, .hack//Legend of the Twilight, Gravitation, Eerie Queerie, Kill Me Kiss Me, Girl Got Game, INVU, Kare Kano, Azumanga Daioh, Brain Powered, Angelic Layer, Chobits, Cardcaptor Sakura, CLAMP School Detectives, Corrector Yui, Cowboy Bebop, Culdcept, Demon Diary, The Demon Ororon, DNAngel, Dragon Knights, Forbidden Dance, Fruits Basket, GetBackers, Love Hina, Magic Knight Rayearth, Man of Many Faces, Miracle Girls, Miyuki-chan in Wonderland, Model, One, Petshop of Horrors, Pita-Ten, Princess Ai, Psychic Academy, Ragnarok, Rave Master, Reality Check, Rising Stars of Manga, Shutterbox, Snow Drop, Suki, Tokyo Babylon, Tokyo Mew Mew, Wish, X-Day, Zodiac, P.I., etc.

Let's see my two utmost faves at this time....okay I'm lying, but the ones that I truly, truly is enamoured of are:

Hana-Kimi:
cross gender hijinxs in an all boys school: girl follows fave high jumper over to his school in jump and all the silliness occurs!

Hot Gimmick:
slaves (not so much in the later vol.), black mail, secrets, love.....nicely twisted and funny! Well, to me that is! blaugh

King of Hell:
Sexy dead dude that gets in turned into a kid due to some unfavorable events that he caused in Hell for Warriors....too funny once he's sent back on Earth....too funny!

Snow Drop:
They say it's like Romeo and Juliet, but it's more than that....to me it's just based on it not really like it. It's awesome, wonderful, drawing beautfully! I love this manwha!

Crescent Moon:
A girl from the lineage of a princess who betrayed a demon whom she promised her love and hand to him, but something happens that he ends up destroyed. The girl herself has the ability to give others her good luck (while she herself is unlucky in every which way) and encounters the demon race her princess had betrayed. There's more to this story and it's just so wonderful! I love it so! *sigh*

Those are the ones I'm currently collecting and have in my manga/manwha collection. I plan to continue it's growth by adding other different types. I know for sure I want to get Banana Fish (Streamjumper and Lunainverse were kind of to let me read the volumes they had available when I went to visit them! *waves* THANK YOU!) Well, I'll cut it short for now!

-cowers at the mention of RSoM- Forgive me!! Gah!!

Azumanga rox0rs, as does Tennis no Ouji. I ADORE my Shusuke plushie! heart

I read the latest chapter of Fruits Basket (95) and I am HAPPY! I'm catching up on my Hana to Yume anthologies. The latest one is 16 and I'm up to 15. ^_^ Rejoice!

The Hana Yori anime reminds me of a broadway show... Rui is my b***h. The new volume of Hot Gimmick in Japanese (7) looks HOT.

Here's my list of what I'm collecting and reading etc.
Ranma 1/2 (which I now own the last two volumes of in french!), Kare Kano, Battle Angel Alita (and Last Order too), Ai Yori Aoshi, Love Hina (which I have all of but still love), OMG/AMS (Which I don't collect, but I can snag from my friend who's a major Urd fanboy), Negima, Azumanga Daioh, and Hellsing.

Altogether, I'd have to say that my favorite manga would be Maison Ikkoku. I just love it completly. The development goes at a perfect pace, in my opinion, because you can see the characters slowly change as the series goes. By far, its the best of Takahashi's works. Now I just need to get around to buying all of them.

I started reading Yakitake Japan because of you guys.. Who knew I could be so interested in a manga about bread. sweatdrop

Anywho. Hannah and I have been collecting manga for a while, but we still don't have much.. But here's the stuff that we do have.

Dragon Knights ( Probably one of my favorite ones that we collect, I love the art in it and the story. We have up to volume 13 or 14. The story was hard to follow for a while, so I need to catch up on it before buying the next volumes. )
Gravitation
Petshop of Horrors
Corrector Yui
Chobits
Saiyuki
Planet Ladder
Battle Royale ( I haven't read any of it. )

We don't have a lot..but we have a lot of volumes of the stuff we DO have.
