The dim glow of the lantern illuminated the stallion's strangely calm features as he watched another fall to their death. A symphony of cheers and laughter echoed in his ears as the dull thud signaled that his task was complete. It was another 'job well done' for the fox. Another victory for those who played on his side which meant another celebration for the voices of the deceased that kept him company.
Feeling accomplished he turned away from the corpses pit with a satisfied smirk. Sometimes his job was simply too easy. Fools followed the glow of his lanterns through the dark of the forest until they walked right into hole. while he preferred the challenge he didn't mind a fool every now and then. They meant that he could retire to bed earlier then usual which was exactly where he was planning to head when a pained whimper reached his ears.
Golden eyes went wide and he turned back to look at his kill. The feeling of triumph washed away and he frowned suddenly very angry. She was still alive. The light cast off by his lanterns barely reached the bottom of the pit but he could faintly make out the mare's golden pelt against the decaying forms of his previous victims. She whimpered and tried to move but got no where. He could faintly make out the scent of her own blood in the putrid air. She was dying but not nearly fast enough for his liking.
He cursed under his breath and stepped away from his own hell hole. All those successful nights had led to this turning into a long wait for him. He couldn't leave her living. There was a slim chance that someone could come by to help her and that would mean that he had failed. "Damn woman..." He snorted before letting himself get a bit more comfortable. "Do us both favor and let spirits have you quick ne?"

Again the stallion was pulled into the depths of the forest that he often wandered in, though it was later at night, it had become more frequent as of late. He didnt need to be able to see, nor to be able to any of his senses as his hooves and legs carried him to where the soon dead mare would be. it was the beckon call of the dying that pulled him so. The Angeni's curse to 'comfort' or be with those in their last moments. The call knew no time, it knew no difference between good and evil, right or wrong. It knew no mercy nor peace. Only that it demanded him, as if fulfilling a lifetime worth of punishment.
His wings outspread as he eased down the hold in a soundless flight and stood before the mare. It was only then that his eyes adjusted to the darkness around him. His stoic expression didnt change as he curled around the broken body, a massive wing covered over her as if to protect her and he lay his head down by her side. There were never any need for words, most already knew why he was there. Most even thought he was just a vision, not even real. He didnt even notice the flicker of light above him from the lanterns of the other...

His eyes were deceiving him. They had to be. The vibrant stallion had come from nowhere and had willingly put himself into Hisoka's pit. Pinning his ears back he brought himself as close to the edge as he dared go. His golden eyes burned angrily as he looked over the side expecting to watch his target be pulled to safety. It was something the fox couldn't allow.
What he saw in the low light, however, was nothing that he expected. The winged creature was not aiding her escape in anyway. What he actually was doing remained a mystery to the white stallion and it was not one he was willing to wait and see the answer to.
Lowering his head toward the pit he pulled his lip back in a snarl. "Out. Now." He ordered. His ears twitched as the voices began chattering angrily at him. The told him to leave the other be but gave Hisoka no reason for it. Ordinarily he would have complied with their wishes but now was not a good time for them to be butting in. "I mean it."

Requiem paid no attention to Hisoka at first. He had seen it all. Death by any means, and this murderer was no different. He remained unmoving before his other wing spread out as well, showing all four now. It was hard to tell if it were a defensive measure, or a challenge... perhaps he just needed to shift from his current position to get more comfortable. He was quiet a bit longer until the life had passed that he was next to.
He took a few moments before standing slowly. His wings folded to his back again and he again, did not look at the other, even once. Seemingly as if he didnt even exist.

Hisoka watched as the other stood trying to debating about the benefits of jumping down into his own trap to get rid of the orange being. A multitude of voices began to speak to him all at once. Advising him against acting in such a foolish manner, telling him that it wasn't worth it or else laughing and daring him to kill himself. For whatever reason he decided that jumping to his doom was not the best course of action and stayed put glowering at the other stallion from above.
It didn't seem that he had been seen. He was used to being ignored so that did not frustrate him. Having not one but two living beings in his hole, on the other hand, bothered him a great deal. There was a fair amount of pleased laughter in his ears as he noticed something. He shifted slightly to the side trying to see past the stallion. A wide grin spread across his reddened lips and the laughter grew in volume.
"I win! She dies!" He cried almost joyously down to the orange stallion hoping that this realization would draw him away from Hisoka's pit. His ears were no longer pinned back. He was victorious this evening. If it had been the bright ones intent to save the mare then he had failed. Hisoka's job would be done, as soon as he got the fool out of his hole. "Leave now! She not coming back."

Requiem watched the seemingly crazed being, ears moving at his sounds of laughter, his chaotic motions. A brow arched as he spoke low, tho his voice carried easily to the one above.
'You seem to think I wish to save her?' he shifted a bit, tail waving slowly a moment. This one confused him. He had never truly met anyone that he would classify as insane. 'I wasnt aware this was a game of some sort for you...'. Again he had seen murderers and things of the like but had never seen one so... desperate as to see another die for no reason.

The words of the other silenced Hisoka's laughter alone. He could still hear the hysterical cackles and giggles of the voices of those that drove him to play this game. His eyebrows furrowed in irritation towards the bodiless voices. "It's not your goal?" His voice was laced with confusion and just barely above a whisper. The volume of the laughter ringing in his ears only increased, they knew something that he didn't.
"She agree to play. I am just doing job." He snorted feeling no shame or even remorse for what he had done. The bright stallion was correct in thinking that this was a game. It was the most dangerous game for anyone that wasn't on his side. The laughter settled and was replaced with mummers of agreement and even compliments for doing his job so well. He straightened his neck and looked away from his pit with a smile as though he expected to see someone there. As usual there was nothing for him to see there so he returned to his previous position. Even after months of playing he hadn't quite grown used to hearing them.
As much as he simply wanted to order the other out of his trap again he found that he wasn't able to. Something was bothering him. Why would anyone purposefully lay down in a pit of decaying carcases if they were not trying to help someone. There was silence in his ears. He was on to something, but what? "Why you do down there if not to save?"

The confusion in Hisoka's voice made his own expression smooth out, as if it were all clear to him now. Had he been the sort to play games, he might have taken satisfaction in the fact that he had managed to confuse the other and silence him.
He nodded when the other referred to it as a 'job'. He could respect that easily, and for a moment he even had respect for the murderer when he said that. A job... after all, thats what this was for him too, wasnt it? Maybe thats what drove the other to what was seemingly madness. He closed his eyes a moment and took a deep breath, pushing it from his mind. Not that he trusted him any more, nor really cared. He had done and seen to much to care... or allow himself to.
His answer came just as smooth and low as his other words. 'Im just doing my job...'

So, it seemed they were not so different. Each did what was asked of them for whatever reason. That did not answer Hisoka's question however. A job could be any number of things and while the stallion had done nothing to stop him from succeeding he did not trust him. He still had the potential to get in the way, especially if he stayed where he was at the moment.
"Your job to go in rot holes?" He asked with a snort of laughter and a sneer knowing well enough that this likely was not the case. The voices confirmed this with snickers and various jabs at Hisoka's intelligence. He ignored them. They were being of no help to him right now. If they wouldn't answer his questions then he had to find out on his own.

Requiem didnt answer the male, just spread his wings and just as quietly, with a few powerful flaps was free of the hole and on the other side, still watching Hisoka easily. Closer now than before, the other male would be able to tell the chaos behind Requiem's eyes, not unlike the voices that were in the own male's head.
'It is my job to spend the last moments with the dead...' he answered smoothly. There was no reason to lie, and he didnt often hide such a fact, there was no reason to. 'And it seems I finally have the pleasure of meeting the reason why I am often woken up so late at night lately...'

Not sure what to expect from the other he took a short step back away from the edge as he emerged. His lanterns beat against his sides in the wind created from the bright stallion's flight. As they began to settle he was able to make out features more clearly. What Hisoka had been expecting from him and what he saw and heard were two different things.
At first he was certain that the stallion was pulling his leg. For whatever reason he imagined someone taking on that sort of duty would be kinder and full of smiles. The silence in his ears was answer enough that the male was not making things up just because he could. Knowing that it was the truth left him only with one problem, now he was standing face to face with someone that had witnessed his work for who knew how long.
"You expect apology?" He questioned finally with a raised brow and a look that said he had no intention of giving it. "I do my job as well as you." He added with a snort and a casual shake of his mane.

Shaking his head at the question easily he replied 'I dont expect anything'. His eyes shifted to the lanterns at the other stallion's sides. The light, tho often maybe not a good thing, was warm to Req and he lost himself for a moment. 'After all... it is just a job...' he spoke again softly, 'or a curse...'
Standing there a few more moments his eyes shifted back up to meet that of Hisoka's. Not that he needed friends, or he was trying to make any, in fact... he never introduced himself. Maybe it was because he sensed something of a kindred spirit. 'Name's Requiem' he said quietly. He wasnt really expecting an answer back, but he bowed his head in a bit of respect before he turned to go.

He watched with mild amusement as the others eyes moved to his lanterns. 'Life' and 'Death' were linked together and would glow to entrance those around. It seemed their light still had an effect even on those who had seen Hisoka's handiwork. It drew a thin smile to his face that, in the low light, appeared absolutely wicked.
He said nothing more on the job. Whether it be a curse, a game or simply employment it seemed that in some small way they saw their jobs in the same light: they were there. Golden eyes met with blue for a moment before the bright stallion named himself.
"R...rekiam?" He repeated as best as he could as the winged one turned away. The name was foreign to his tongue. He had learned enough of the language to communicate, names, however, still baffled him. He frowned, hating all the strange names but took a step towards Requiem along the side of the pit. "Hisoka. My name." He said with a short bob of his head. It wasn't out of manners that he gave his own name away. He just imagined it would make future meetings easier. After all he would not be stopping his work any time soon nor did he imagine that Requiem would be.

It never once occurred to Requiem to even ask why he did what he did. When the other male gave his name he turned back to look at him, his look still unchanging for the most part. 'Well Hisoka, I think its late, and its time for me to sleep. I imagine Ill be seeing you again soon,' his tail flicked lightly before he allowed himself to finally give into a light yawn.
'May the night-mother protect you in her cold, loving embrace,' he continued before finally turning again and heading off. Blending quickly into the darkness as if his colors were just an illusion he was gone. He had come to call the darkness, the death and the night, 'night-mother' as it indeed was a cruel mistress.
((We can continue on to another day or end it if you like :3 Just seemed a good way to end the first meeting ))

((Let's call this one finished. ^^ We can start a new one a bit later so it isn't all repeat okay?))
He nodded his head slowly as the other yawned. He had little doubt in his mind that they would cross paths again. He spoke not a word as Requiem departed as though he had never actually been there. He hoped that he would see the other many more times because each time would mean one more victory for those on his side.
Lowering his gaze from the skies he looked back into his pit. He could see the mare and all his other victims laying still in the cold. He snorted and pulled his head away feeling a wave of exhaustion sweeping over him. It was time that he vanished into the night as well. Turning his head he blew out the light in each of his lanterns not wanting to draw anymore attention with them.
Casting one final look to his trap he departed more then ready to rest his eyes until the next evening.
