The Small Island where Sora, Riku, Kairi, Selphie, Tidus and Wakka play is a relatively small island, but is where most of the beginning of the story takes place. It is reached by canoe from the main island. Most of the island is covered in trees and shrubbery. The outskirts are naturally covered in yellow sandy beaches. There is a Seaside Shack and a somewhat treehouse built into a large tree. A miniature island is settled next to the island and can be reached by crossing a bridge (which can be accessed by using the stairs in the Seaside Shack mentioned above) (or alternatively, by swimming towards a ladder on the opposite side of the island, and then climbing it). Sora can also have duels with Wakka , Selphie and Tidus nearby in the first game. Sora and Riku often practice their sword fights at the place where the friends can watch the sunset - past the Bridge, on a miniature island. On that island is a crooked palm tree that grows Paopu Fruits. Local myth dictates that the two people who share one will have their destinies intertwined. The Cove at the back of the island has an obstacle course which Sora and Riku use during their competitive challenges

A lone man stood by the edge of the sparkling water that encased the small island. The waves trickled over his dark boots as a deep sigh left his pale lips. Lifting up his palm, he placed it against his face as a menacing smile crept upon his lips. A soft chuckle erupted from his mouth, almost evil. His shadow began moving on it's own, twisting it's shape around until it began rising from the ground. As it's shape became more construct and less bulky, any eye could see that it was nothing of natural descent. Turning his body around, the man made eye contact with the creature as it shook it's head, almost acknowledging the silence between the two. As the man looked off, it watched the creature creep it's way towards the Secret Place as if in means of finding something. Turning his attention back to the Ocean, the dark cloud covered the sun almost instantly, thunder and lightning spewing out from the luminous object.

Roan docked the ship at the really small dock and stepped on to the wooden platform. He had to hold his arm before his face to shield his eyes from flying debri and the wind itself. He could see a figure standing on the beach, and got a creepy vibe from him. He saw some odd creature run into the secret place, but wasn't sure if he should follow or not. He decided to go ahead and do it and ran past the man and into the small hole that lead to the large cave known as the secrey place.

 As Cari made in onto the small island, she saw Roan running towards the Secret Place. Why was he going there? Curious, Cari followed after him. As she was running, Cari ran past a man on the beach. She didn't know why, but something about him put her on edge. Cari did her best to not make eye contact with the man. ((Exits))

 ๑۞๑ Nui Ginko ๑۞๑
Nui arrived on the island in a short time, as she did she saw this strange man looking from the beach. She didn't know who he was but she didn't really have that much time to think or say anything to him. Though she did stare at him for a moment then ran off to her home that was inside a tree. Everything seemed to be in place, she saw her wooden sword and decided to take it, just in case. Her place was small, enough room for one person, it had a few things in there. A roll up bed was one, though she didn't think she'd need it or anything like that. She looked around to see if she should bring anything else with her just in case. The oval rug on the floor was going to stay there.... she looked around, but didn't see anything. But then she saw a star-shaped fruit hanging from the wall by a green cord. It was the well known fruit called Paopu fruit, she took and and attached it to her belt.
Then she ran out, seeing the other kids going into the secret place and wondered why. She ran into the hole also, really just to protect whatever she brought with her. She wished she was the only one who knew about this place, then again, that was kind of selfish. Besides, this place could also protect the kids too during the storm, so it was okay with her, as long as they don't annoy her anyway. ((Exits to Secret Place))

As Naomi walked onto the dock she shielded her face, annoyed by the wind and the debris. I really wish Roan had waited for me... She thought miserably due to the fact that she had come to the island alone while looking at her surroundings, searching for him. Her gaze rested upon a lone figure, and she wondered whether or not she should approach him. Well....I don't want to look around everywhere for Roan... She thought. However, she didn't know this person. Approaching him she clasped her hands, holding her school bag in the process. "Um, excuse me," She said, a little timid. Naomi couldn't help but feel a chill go down her spine, regretting the fact that she had made a form of contact with him. Despite the somewhat dark aura she felt emanated from him, she couldn't take her words back and waited for his response.

As the three teenagers swept by him, he could only know that they were falling right into his trap. "Yes. That's right. Go deeper and deeper into the darkness. Don't fret. It'll all be over soon." He raised his arms into the air as swarms of shadows began erupting from the ground, hundreds of them now all over the small island. As he let his arms drop, he would turn his attention to a girl who was just brave enough to confront him. Even though she was not attempting to attack him, he still could not fight the urge of a meaningless kill. It was almost like ecstasy to him. He couldn't fight him. The lust for blood and death was almost imminent. As the girl spoke to him, a dark aura surrounded his right arm, as a weapon of sorts appeared in his hand. Opening his eyes wide, a smile fell onto his face as he brought the weapon crashing down towards her fragile skull.

Roan's eyes widened instantly as he stepped out. He had turned his head a bit and saw the man trying to strike Naomi. As if time slowed down for a moment, Roan ran as fast as he could and in nearly an instant, he was next to Naomi. He pushed her out of the way and was struck in the chest by the attack. He fell to one knee and gasped for air before standing up and facing the man, a scowl on his face as he held his chest. "Why would you do that?!" He yelled, getting ready to move out of the way of another attack.

She saw it coming, but her body froze as the weapon made its way toward her. Next thing she knew Naomi felt something push her out of the way, causing her to land on her side on the ground a little distance away. "Roan!" She screamed, letting go of her school bag and darting to his side, taking him by the shoulders and moving him despite his injuries. Sitting him up still facing the stranger she began healing his injuries, her hands shaking slightly due to the blood on her hands. "Oh my God, Roan, I'm so sorry..." She apologized, her guard still up and looking toward the man in her peripheral vision, ready to grab Roan and run if need by.

Only a smile could grace his lips as he looked at the two helpless people before him. Upon raising his keyblade, a simple word fell from his lips. "Firaga," Out of nowhere, a ring of fire erupted around the three, almost as if it came from nowhere. He could tell the distress in both of their eyes that shined in the deadly flames. They had nowhere to run, lest be burned by the intense flames around them. Staring down at the two, he raised his keyblade once more, this time swinging it in a diagonal slash to hit the both of them. "Now what shall you do?!"

Naomi saw the blade come down again, but willed herself to take action this time. Reaching one arm across Roan's body she placed her own before his, the keyblade striking her back. Wincing she began to tremble, the pain slowly taking affect. "Roan..." She gasped, unable to move. Naomi's vision began to blur, her breathing more shallow. "I'm...sorry..." She apologized, looking into his eyes and meaning every word. "Run, please..." She felt her strength leave her body slowly, as if it was leaking from her, knowing that her wound was deep. She felt the heat of the flames, her body shaking with fear.

Roan looked at Naomi in horror. This sudden event was terrifying and he was at a complete loss of what to do. He closed his eyes and wrapped his arms around Naomi as he tried protecting her, hoping his embrace alone would heal her. The next second, he seemed to be falling into the darkness. He landed on a huge structure, with something that looked like a stained-glass window below him. There were pictures of people and one held a weird, key-like weapon in his hand. Roan walked around, wondering just where he even was and looked over the ledge, seeing nothingness below him. He stepped back immediately and bumped into something.
Roan turned around to see a giant monster. He had seen books of heartless and nobodies and this was neither. "What the...!?" He fell on his bottom and crawled back a bit. Thoughts of Naomi drifted into his mind and he knew what he had to do. He wouldn't just act like a coward and let this thing kill him. No!
There was suddenly a bright light. One that made the teenager cover his eyes with one arm and the weird creature to stumble back slightly and roar. When Roan opened his eyes, he noticed a shift in weight in his hand and that he was holding something. He gasped as he looked down at the odd weapon, but only for a moment, seeing as the creature had been stunned by the light alone. Roan took his chance and ran forward at an almost instant pace and leapt into the air, cutting horizontally at the creature as he flew by.
As he landed on the other side, the creature stopped moving and stood still before melting away into darkness. Roan sighed and looked down at the keyblade. A couple second later, he was falling again, this time opening his eyes to see the scene he'd been in a bit ago, the evil man before him and Naomi in his arms, but this time, the keyblade was still in his hand.

Getting to her knees, she pulled down the skirt of her dress until it was at her mid-thigh. Her white shoes felt oddly heavy as she started to make her way to the pathway to the opposite side of the island. As she reached the doorway, Etoile, out of concern and precaution, picked up her wooden sword. Granted, she felt it would be useless if it was anything too dangerous; however, she knew it would be better that she had some form of protection.
Walking through the doorway the sight she saw took her breath out of her chest. A couple of teens and a man cloaked in darkness seemed to evanescing their way from existence. She ran to where they were just moments before the only traces of them to be found were marks in the sand. Wha...what the hell is going on out here?
Turning her head to more loud unrecongizable sounds, Etoile looked to the location of the entrance of the secret place. A light seemed to eliminate from it and her eyes grew wide. A shred of fascination shone in them, but the rest of color in her eyes screamed fear. She ran towards the bridge and ran over to the small island. From there she continued to watch the entrance of the secret place; the noises haunted her mind as all became terrifyingly silent.

Naomi felt Roan hold her as she closed her eyes, her heartbeat drumming in her ears. "Run...Roan..." She begged, only having the strength to whisper. her already vision became dark around the edges, as if she was being pulled into a dark tunnel. Noticing that he didn't respond she clutched the shoulder of his shirt with some of the remaining strength she had. With that her body went limp and Naomi's eyes closed.
She no longer felt his arms around her, and her back stung with the pain of the wound. Black... Naomi tried moving her fingers, her legs, anything, but to no avail. Where am I...? She felt as if she was floating on her back, the only feeling she had was the pain from the injury inflicted by the stranger. Roan..? She willed herself to open her eyes, seeing only black, and failed again. I..can't move... Clare felt as if she had been separated from her body. All other senses, with the exception of thought, she had lost -- touch, taste, hearing. Where am I...?!
At this point she began to panic. What is this?! Am I-- Dead. That had to be it. This was what it was like after death. Naomi's thoughts took a downward spiral, thinking of all of the things she had wanted to do and what she should have done before this moment. She wanted to cry, but knew that she was unable to do so. Little did she know that tears trailed down her face in Roan's arms.

Nui emerged from the secret place to see the same man standing on the beach. But with him were the boy and girl from earlier, the girl in the boy's arms, who happened to half a keyblade. "Man, everyone around me seems to be getting a keyblade, sure beats having a wooden sword" she said to herself. Tears were in the girl's eyes, and it made Nui curious, it seemed the girl was in pain. She looked back at the man with her arms crossed, with no particular emotion in her face. Though she seemed to have a hint of excitement in her green eyes as a small smile creeped up on her face. "So... you must be the reason why there is a storm here, that would explain the malicious feeling I am getting from you" she said.
