Well, some of you know that I'm starting junior college this year. . . I'm kinda excited about it, it definitely will be something different. However, for the last two years, our high school had four periods a day. . . Eight periods total, four in each semester. That was a lot easier, although we had to do a whole year's worth of work in just 18 weeks.
But nowww, since our FCAT scores were so bad because there's just not enough people in that school who give a s**t, the schoolboard decides to change it to seven periods a day! That's just more classes to keep on top of, on top of a college class every morning.
My boyfriend signed up for mostly all AP classes this year, because he thought that it would be the same format. So now he has to go and get that changed, because it would be fine at first, but eventually his mind would crack under the strain and his grades would fall down the toilet. The advanced students will fall down to be average, the average will continue to be average, and the failures will continue to fail. And do they honestly expect us to carry around 5-6 text books every day? Do they even have any idea how heavy those things are?! On top of carrying around the various folders and notebooks! With all the money they supposedly "saved" then you'd think they would have enough to at least buy a class set of text books for each room instead of investing so much in our sports program. Not that sports aren't important, but you'd think the academic part would be more important, ya know?
They think they're accomplishing something with this but really they're just making it harder on everyone. . . And by the time they realize this, it'll be too ********' schools. . . Sorry for the length.
