The main path of the route runs from the northwest to the southeast, linking the eastern shore of Lilycove City with the northern edge of Route 126. An outlet just north of Route 126 connects the route to Mossdeep City. The route is the lowest-numbered water route to feature spots where trainers can Dive to the ocean floor. It is also the first in a series of water routes that links Lilycove to Slateport City while passing through Mossdeep and Pacifidlog Town. It is also the largest route in the entire Pokemon world to date.
Route 125 is a short north-south water route located to the north of Mossdeep City in northeast Hoenn. The northern terminus of the route is at Shoal Cave. The southern terminus is at the north edge of Mossdeep.Roughly 20 paces north of Mossdeep City, Route 125 conceptually splits into two paths. The west "path" heads to the northwest, passing two islands before reaching a shallow area of the route. At this location, trainers are allowed to dismount their Pokémon and enter Shoal Cave. The east path passes three islands before ending at a dead end northeast of Shoal Cave.
