What is your take on the pharisees that condemned Jesus to the cross?

Did what he had to do to support his family.

No...they did what they could to retain the power they had created for themselves.

What is your take on the pharisees that condemned Jesus to the cross?

There are several differing views, most of them from various evangelical branches and only concepts which are about 5oo years old in thought. The main view is that they sought to seize Christ for testing and to also eliminate a flock who was moving away from Temple Judaism. If he is the Christ to them, then He would have brought about His kingdom as a central power in the Roman World with His kingdom demolishing the Roman tyrants, according to their premonitions. if He was not the Christ He would simply die upon execution and people would revert back to the truth of their teachings.

There is no blame upon the jewish leaders of the day as far as their ideological attempts to thwart Jesus. it was their faith and knowledge which drove them to bring questions to Him to see if He truly was what he claimed and lived to be. It was necessary for them to ask Him and test Him, as is the way.

The monkey wrench to the Pharisee was when He came as a gentle lamb to the slaughter instead of the Coming Conqueror to seize control of the Earth. This time around he wil come, to establish His throne on Earth. I still believe He will be the God of Peace and Mercy which will offset the ideas those have for the Apocalypse of St. John.

I love your intelligence and wisdom. It is to be desired.

Oh, I am a sophomore at best to the Faith.
Thank you for the kind words but I pray others maintain the knowledge of their Faith in Him.
