Dawn. The world was stirring around them, the noises of the forest muffled by the warm, dark den surrounding him. It was the pack den, the large one that, until recently, had never been used. Now, it held the sleeping forms of those closest to him, except one.
Deimos longed for some word, a rumor, even a scent, of his old friend. His fellow Alpha. But Alexander, it seemed, had vanished from the earth.
Unwillingly to dwell on dark thoughts, the mighty alpha of Einsame Lykos looked at those that remained of his small pack as they slept, warmth filling his heart.
Ehrek, his wonderful, beautiful mate, lay snuggled up beside him. Ehrek, who had been with Deimos now through many struggles. His Northern Lights.
Kekarn, the purple lug, sprawled on Ehrek's opposite side, with Alina some distance from him. Even now, she still sometimes kept to herself.
He looked to the back of the den, at a wolf curled up into the darkness by himself. It was his brother, Phobos. A brother he didn't remember, but one he wanted to get to know, if only Phobos would open up.
Deimos sighed.
And then there were the triplets, curled in a heap of gangly limbs and fur beside Deimos. A few months after their rescue, and they were thriving. Klutzy and adventurous as any young pups, they got into everything, and never left each others' sides. Quiet Clotho, never without her scrap of string. Inquisitive Lachesis, who always seemed to be deep in thought as she played with her stick, and brooding Atropos, who's stares were a little too intent for Deimos' liking.
Reminded him too keenly of his estranged sister.
Atropos worried the alpha, but the darkness left her eyes whenever she touched one of her sisters, which meant he saw those particular stares very little.
A noise caught his attention and Deimos shifted his gaze with a wide yawn, one ear flicking back as he stretched just a bit. He caught Kek's gaze and nodded to his friend.
"Mornin'," he murmured, his words soft so as not to wake any of the others. His nose twitched a bit as he sniffed the air, and he added offhandedly, "I think your follower was here earlier . . . "

The medium chocolate hued wolfess, with the silver-creme paws, tail tip, and snout, along with odd characters scrawled upon both her sides, twitched an ear that was angled to the ground. The caramel eyes didn't open right away as for, what had been a longer time then she cared to recall the exact time, she had been out wandering telk.
The memory of seeing her birth brothers and even one of her sisters was flickering in her mind. There was a faint expression of a frown that came to femme's maw. No, Alina hadn't been able to even feel the joy she had thought she would at the sight of seeing her family, for those wolves that had called by name, the large blue and white male, Crunch (the name given to her) said she was also named Hershey. She let out a soft growl from deep in her throat.
No, those wolves were strangers to her, she had a family, as distant as everyone in Einsame Lykos was, she thought of them as family. Maybe she had gotten use to there not being so many others, or knowing that she wouldn't be stared at for not having a wide smile or happily dancing eyes.
Rolling her head to the opposing side, caramel eyes slide back to look around the den that was just now starting to smell like a pack, though small, lived around here. They were a gathering of wanders, those that had no where to call home, but one another.
Sadness tinged her eyes, even now, Alina found it had to still show expressions, but she could give a smile, frown, even a glower or bare her fangs at just feeling what the emotion was she wanted to express was. She recognized them easier when they pulsed from her heart.
Lifting her head up, she half expected to be the first one to wake, but at looking over Kek, the big oversized lug of a push over no one could help but love, the chocolate femme looked to see the erected head of the only returned alpha of the small pack.
But seeing Deimos saying something, she figured that Kek was also away, but not moving all the much yet, Alina laid her head back upon her paws. Sleep not being something the femme found easily since her reunion with her siblings. There was three new young additions plus Deimos's brother, compared to the seemingly other members they had lost in the wake of the pack just wandering off on their own paths for some time.

Brushed against his mate, he can't be far from him at any given time as of late. With how things are, the way things were going, he had to be sure he -himself- was safe and to make sure Deimos had someone to fall back on. All the stress of leading a pack must become overwhelming and one would need the support of his followers. Resting, the charcoal-blue breathed softly, feeling the Alpha's fur against his. His scent overpowering his twitching nose, surely it was Deimos. The warmth of the sun was making him squirm, warm sun meant the cold, moist morning air. Curling tight, tucking his nose under his paws, it was growing difficult to escape the wake that was undoubtedly to come.
The young beta raised his head, golden eyes hidden behind closed lids, as he pushed it against his Alpha's body. Murring softly, the canine licked absentmindedly against his mate as a morning hello.
With the large, lovable lug beside him and the scent of familiar others, it was starting to feel like family. With this moving about, the sense of family was what he needed and his mate.
It was when the fire red male spoke to the purple love beside him that he decide to open his eyes a bit. In doing so, he just groaned and flopped his head backward upon Kek's shoulder.
"Too early, love. I'll just assume I know whom you are talking about..." Ehrek intervened, nosing Kek's whatever-he-could-reach-from-where-a-short-wolf-can spots. Kek was large, by no means was he any of their sizes. But that was something Ehrek loved about him. Then again, Deimos was large too, which also got the smaller wolf's attention.
With a sigh, the wolf braved his body, pushing himself up on all four. Groaning again as the beta stretched out the sore, aching body. God sleeping could feel so good until you crack those bones of yours after waking. Sure enough, the wolf was wagging with a perked up expression on his face. Being as playful as he was, Ehrek flopped himself over Deimos' side, blinking up from the ground to his fellow pack mates.

Not too far away, but enough to stay out of nose and eyes, a black-orange wolf remained hidden away from the small pack of Einsame Lykos. Darn them, if he did not find the thrill of messing with their pack members and getting caught so intoxicating, he wouldn't be here. He cursed himself for falling for that lovable lug. He cursed himself for roving in the Lykos' pack territory. He cursed himself for being so weak. Of all the members, why the one he cannot resist leaving?
Therin was a rover. He roved. Males and females, mostly males, but he roved whoever fell for his rugged charms. Though little as that pool of pickings were. Most were put off, but Kekarn was different. He was large, a feature in males he often avoided because they weren't easy to sway. He was also very, very affectionate, something he did cherish in those he stayed with. But Kekarn was the only one he always returned to. But what made him even more desireable was that he was part of a pack and that he was seeing the male in secrecy.
He cursed himself for cursing the male.
The rogue canine kept his distance from the pack, waiting for Kekarn to splinter off, maybe hunting or what, just so he could get a quick meeting with the large wolf. But so far, he hasn't been too lucky unfortunately. And with this small pack, it meant they were more closely knit. With the scent of pups in the air, it means that they were on alert too.
This was going to be a little difficult.
Still, he sat and waited, watching carefully from the distance.

The sisters shifted, each one murmuring in an echo of another. Deimos glanced at them, the three pups too gangly and big-footed to really be considered pups anymore. Opening their eyes as one, they blinked, watching him with bleary, sleep fuzzy eyes. Clotho yawned, yipping when Atropos kicked her in the ribs with her stretch.
Something seemed to shift in their attitudes, Lachesis and Atropos turning to stare at their smaller sister. Clotho stood on all fours, but she started to sway, as if dizzy. Deimos leapt to his feet and went to her, but Atropos snarled at him, bearing those large fangs of hers. He snarled back, but stopped in his tracks, watching the little red, gray and white spotted female. Her pretty eyes slipped closed and her head lowered, as if the dizziness was about to send her back to the ground. Ears flattening, she growled softly, a noise that wasn't intimidating for her size, but a noise that sent a shiver down his spine.
And then she spoke.
"Death looms with parted maws, Sleep trailing at his paws. The Loners must gather and run, to a land touched by the sun. Stand and unite with family unknown, for the edge of the earth will become your home. Brothers will clash under a blood red sky, and in the end one will die."
Deimos gaped at his niece, feeling the sudden stillness of the rest of the den. Everyone had awoken, and now, as little Clotho's eyes blinked open, they all watched her in astonishment. The young pup had never once spoken a single word. But now, this?
The alpha lowered to his haunches, still struck by the whole thing.
"Clotho . . . what . . . "
The little pup blinked, looked at the wolves staring at her, and began to whimper, her ears flattening so tightly to her skull they seemed to disappear. Phobos immediately went to her side, licking her muzzle and nuzzling her. She curled up with her sisters and her uncle, and Phobos met Deimos' gaze over the little one's head.
Something dire loomed on the horizon.
The time of Einsame Lykos seemed to be at an end.
