Sari was pacing about, looking for things to make her skin look good. She hadn't thought about such things since she was little. Even when Shale was gone she had only worried about it because she needed to make it paler than she already was.

It had only been a little over a dozen and a half hours since Shale had asked her for a picnic today, it was clear to anyone that both of them were ecstatic. Though she was far more pleased than she had been in a long time, even if she thought she looked horrible.

The shetani whined a little, applying the last of what she could find to make herself pretty. It was almost time for him to pick her up, and she was frantic to be ready for him by the time he got there. Sari could only do a small portion of what she would have done, but she did all she could anyway. She would wait near the door, acting as if she wasn't doing anything when he came. She didn't want him to think she was putting too much effort into this. Even if it was the most important moment of her life right now.

Shale held the basked close to him as he walked through the path that he'd last gone through with lovely company. He was nervous and butterflies danced around in his stomach; he hoped that Sari had slept well and really hoped that things would go smoothly on their date. During the time of their long separation, he still couldn't get out of his mind the beautiful and rare girl from his child hood, and now he was taking her out.

He had done his best to tame his curling hair and to try to tidy himself a bit. He'd spent at least an hour that morning brushing and cleaning the feathers on his wings alone. As he saw the familiar house appearing through the trees, he took a deep breath and smiled. Gently, he knocked on the door, hoping she was up and ready.

She heard the knock, and waited a moment to make it seem like she wasn't waiting almost impatiently for him to show up. Though when she had sat down the minutes had started to tick away so very slowly.

The shetani took a deep breath, opening the door. "Hello." she smiled, opening the door further, leaning on it. Sari had never been on a date before, and thusly didn't know what to do from this point on. she just knew that she was supposed to look good and wait for him. At least they had a general idea of what they were doing with the picnic.

Shale smiled widely when the door opened. "Sari! I hope I'm not too early...." His smile was warm and welcoming, and it was more than obvious that he was truly happy to see her.

"You might want to take something warm with you, since we may be out past sundown...." He'd brought a blanket, but that was for them to sit on... besides, most of his blankets others found to be really itchy for some reason when they curled into them.

She smiled as well, shaking her head. "You're just on time." Sari's own smile was stretching from ear to ear. She was just as happy to see him as he was to see her.

"Okay." The shetani giggled, "Just a second." She said, disappearing behind her door and into a nearby closet. She grabbed a large comfy blanket they could both share as it didn't look like he had brought anything for him. Not that she minded sharing a blanket. "Okay, I'm ready." Sari smiled as she came back to the front door, having left it open in the case that he had wanted to come in.

Shale was grinning even wider when Sari returned. He hadn't stepped in since he really hadn't been invited, even though he knew Sari probably wouldn't have minded.

"Are you all set?" He noticed the blanket and chuckled a little; he had put one in the basket he was carrying, but it was pretty thin. Offering his hand to her, he felt his heart beat quickly in excitement.

She hadn't invited him in, but she wouldn't have minded if he had came in to look around. She wasn't the type to get crabby about others entering her home. Though she had a serious need to re-decorate now, her walls were just a little dark still. It had only been one night since his return, at least to her knowledge.

"Yes." Her smile grew wider, she had a feeling her face would be sore by the end of the day. She hadn't smiled this much in a long time. Sari giggled, blushing a little as she took his hand. The shetani's heart was thumping quite loudly in her chest at this motion. She looked up at him, still a little small, but quite happy that he was there and even more so that he had asked her out.

Shale couldn't wipe the smile off of his face. As they trekked through the trees, he gently rubbed his thumb against the top of Sari's hand. "So how have you been while I've been gone? Did you miss me at all?" The last question was more of a joke than a serious joke.

As they turned the corner of the path, he gently led her into some reeds. On the other side was a small pond. The scenery was beautiful; the lichen hung gently down from the tree branches to the water, and there were dragonflies flittering around and skimming the waters. Crickets chirped leasurly around them. "How does this place look for our picnic?"

She blushed, looking at their hands. That was very new to her. Even as kids she couldn't hold hands with anyone, it was either weird or they didn't like it. "Of course I missed you..." Sari couldn't meet his gaze, she didn't want to admit what she was doing while he was gone. No, that would be something for a later date when she was positive he wasn't going to leave her like that again.

The shetani gave a small gasp, taking in the scenery. It was gorgeous! Better than gorgeous really! The dragonflies were an amazing touch, though she was just in awe that she had never seen the place before honestly. It seemed so close to her home. Her jaw dropped for a moment, still taking in the sight. Quickly shaking it off she looked up at the male, smiling. "It's amazing." she stated, quite happily. "How did you find it?" Wait, she probably didn't want to know. "Nevermind, it's just gorgeous!"

Shale smiled, happy that his find of this place was something Sari liked. "Well, I wasn't completely hopeless while I was gone, you know." He gave her hand a gentle squeeze. "You were always on my mind, Sari, and I was hoping that I'd be able to bring you here when I stumbled upon it a while back. I was rather thrilled that this place still was here after the island changed..."

Setting down the basket, he began taking out the blanket and spredding it across the ground. "Are you very hungery?"

She blushed even more at the squeeze, responding with one of her own. "That's good, it would be mad if you had been entirely useless while you were gone." Sari giggled a little, attempting to hide her blush. Thankfully her skin was pink enough where she didn't need to worry about it, though you could probably tell she was a darker shade of pink.

"You were on my mind to.." Of course it wasn't in the same sweet way he meant it. Hers was a collection of cursings and wishing he would come back. The shetani gave a soft smile, watching Shale set out the blanket. Shaking her head she started to help. She wasn't a helpless bell like most girls wanted to be treated. "I could eat."

Shale coudn't help but chuckle a little to himself as she helped him. He liked Sari, and he really admired the fact that she was so unlike the normal girl; the one that would sit back and let the man do all the work. Instead she was helping him set up a meal, and it made him feel like he was able to share everything in this date with her. She was someone who would help him, just as he would help her.

"I hope you don't have any food allergies to things like nuts..." He spoke nervously, having forgoten to ask her that yesterday. He pulled out the club sandwitches and the little containers of condoments. He hadn't added those to the sandwiches so that they would stay fresh for them to bite into. He then pulled out some covered glasses of some sort of liquid, a couple of plates, and a small stack of napkins. Finally, he pulled out a small box and patted it gently. "For later." he said with a wink.

She smiled, not going to be rude about helping him since he was the one who had packed the basket. Sari giggled a little at his food allergy comment, who knew there was such a thing? "I don't think I do..." The shetani trailed off, trying to think. Nope, no food allergies.. What was an allergy? no time for wondering now..

Box... Box? Box?! For later? Wait, what was he thinking? Her eyes had grown wide, proof she was shocked, looking at him. Though it could have just been amazement at his looks. She would call it perfection, as would a good deal of other pae she was sure. "We're going to be gone all night won't we?" She gave a small nervous laugh, hoping to pass it off as a giggle. It was only now setting in that tonight would probably prove just how much she loved him.

Shale looked at Sari a little confused 'All night? Why would they be gone all night?'

"Erm, sure, if that's what you'd like, Sari..." He gave her a sheepish smile, trying to hide his confusion. What would they do all night? He supposed they could watch the night stars and see if there were any shooting stars to make a wish on... or maybe they could hope for fireflies and use an empty cup to catch one; that sure sounded like fun!

Passing a plate with a sandwhich on it to her, he opened up one of the covered cups. "I hope you like it, it's a tea I've made.... it's made with orange peels and a little bit of cinnamin.

She looked down, a little embarrassed that she had assumed they'd be out all night. Well, it would have been fun if they stayed out all night, there were always stars and fireflies.

the female smiled, returning her gaze to him. "it smells delicious." Sari offered, having smelled the tea once he opened the cup. The shetani happily accepted the plate he handed her, though she wasn't going to bite into the sandwich right away, wait for the other first. she had almost mentally called him a boyfriend. Wait, wasn't that what they were? No, she should wait before thinking that. Right? oh so much to think about, mental shudder.
