It was mid day along the forest edge of the lake in the kawani lands where the mare stood, about the size of a foal, maybe just a smiiiiidge bigger. Once again she found herself in a sad predicament as the ripe, juicy apples hung on the tree just out of her reach. With a sigh, she looked around to see if anyone else was passing by...to no avail.
"I wish Cuauh was here..." Ikinya said aloud to herself, being a giant and of course blessed with wings he could have gotten it for her...but that was neither here or now and would have to figure out another way to get her lunch down from the branches.
She'd been learning so much since she met him, the way of the lands, the locals and so forth. She'd like to say he was her best friend...but could one call someone they just met a best friend? She didn't know, but it was nice not to be alone since making her way over to this new world from Kenya. The land held so many possibilities, and she wanted to hopefully explore them all!

The exuberant colt made his way along the meadow's edge, ear perked and brow furrowed in concentration as he plowed along. He was moving at a pace that could best be described as a jolting, hopping gallop with the occasional stumbling trip- running along with one's head down is not the safest of pass-times.
Swinging his head back and forth, he nibbled the tasty grass, chomping whichever strands were long enough to reach as he zoomed by. Tail flickering excitedly, he swiveled about and zoomed back in the other direction.
Trust a colt to make a game out of grazing!
He paused after his second lap, panting as his little sides heaved to catch his breath. His cerulean gaze wandered about as he examined his surroundings for any possible sources of amusement.
OOH! His face broke into a grin as he broke into a trot, heading straight for the apple tree with a foal-sized lump beneath it. "HIIIIII!" he called as soon as he was within hearing distance, his squeaky voice piping up to break the silence of the warm day.

Well, Ikinya wasn't expecting to have company so...quickly. Jumping nearly out of her spots as the loud, squeaky voice filled the otherwise peaceful summer day, whirling around to see who was coming.
Squinting lightly, she could have sworn it was another Usdia....another giraffe usdia!?! Oh wait....those spots and colours wern't quite right, nor was the fact he wasn't an Usdia at all....but a colt. Standing tall as he approached, she had maybe half a hand over him...yet knew that he would grow to twice her size.
"Hello there!" She called out in return, as he seemed friendly enough. Little tail wiggling slightly in the breeze, she tilted her head as he approached. "You know....we kinda look alike!" Chuckling softly at her observation, her gaze turned left to right as usually foals stuck near their parents?
"Are you lost?" Last thing I want is to be trampled for thinking I stole him or something...

He continued speeding towards her, scrambling to find footing as he neared his new Bestest Friend at break-neck speed. With a little squeak, he dodged to the side and tumbled to the ground in a heap to her left. He quickly bounced back up, shaking himself and peering about suspiciously as if daring anyone to comment on his lack of grace.
With an enthusiastic grin, he shook his head vehemently. "Nope! I'mma just grazin'." He'd managed to wander away from his parent's watchful eyes, for the time being at least.
"Kinda." He titled his head to one side, then the other, as if trying to view her from a different angle. "I'onno... I guess. 'Cept you're kinda..." he paused, searching for the right word. He had a limited grasp on the Kawani tongue, and what he did know came out slightly slurred- he spoke too fast to properly pronounce each syllable, and lacked the maturity to make an effort to enunciate. "... not... a foal."
He squinted, trying to figure out why, exactly, this foal-but-not-a-foal was almost as short as he was. "Did you not eat your vege-tab-les?"

With wide eyes, she blinked as the little brown blurr whirled past her, the grass parting as he tumbled into a heap on the ground. Slowly turning her head as she was about to ask if he was alright...but with that look on his face she figured he was...aaannnddd probably didn't want to talk about it.
"Grazing?" She questioned, tilting her head curiously. "How can you graze at such a high speed?" Leave it to a foal to do something so wild and crazy...she could barely remember her own foal years! Given the colours were all wrong, it was cute how his spots were sporadic rather than plotted like hers were. He did look quite darling, but thought little colts didn't like to hear such things so she kept it to herself.
A bit shocked, she gave a little huff. "I'll have you know I ate lots of vegetables!" She wasn't angry, simply having fun being 'irked'. "Im an Usdia....we're a smaller horse....if you think im tiny you should see our foals. They come up to mayybbbee....here." She tapped his underbelly with her hoof. "They're very tiny!"
