One deliciously beautiful Saturday afternoon, Emi had called her best friend and favorite cousin. It was an out of character sort of move, but she had finished her morning dance practice and Madam was out sick with a cold. There was time to kill, and she wanted to spend it with Tyven. Luckily, the snake girl had been free and more than willing to meet up with her!
Emi decided on the small local mall and arrived exactly two minutes before the time of agreed meeting. Today was a day for a sundress made out of soft cotton, dyed a soft shade of green with little darker green flowers embroidered up along it. The sleeves were of the thin sort and she wore tiny wedges, dyed to match the dress, same with the ribbons in her short braid. Odette frolicked along behind her, feathered wings fluttering.
The enterance to the mall was classy, with bright white pillars and a statue of the man who built it under the walk way. Cozy benches lined the immaculate shrubbery, the stone walls clean behind them. Emi shifted, held her dark green string purse to her stomach, and waited.

Tyven really did love clean places. Contrasts. She loved white walls and dark accents. She loved bright things, pale things, soft things. Why? Because Tyven was hard, dark, deep. The snake was pleased with the warm weather [the cold always disagreed with her] and wore a pair of stylish sunglasses over her pale eyes, a pair of dark, tailored pants, and surprisingly enough, a fitted racer-back tank instead of a dress-shirt. Her only admission to the heat.
The tall, fit girl arrived promptly on time, flashing a sudden, bright grin at the sight of her cousin. She'd been a bit surprised to get Emi's call, but was happy enough to meet her. The two had a quiet understanding between them, and Tyven could tell Emi everything she couldn't tell her other favorite bird.
"Emi," a warm enough tone from the stoic girl as she closed the distance between them, reaching out to make a loose physical connection. The brief squeezing of Emi's delicate wrist. "You look good."

She smiled, the slow, quiet sort that few people were lucky enough to see. Emi liked Tyven now that the snake girl didn't scare the living hell out of her. Living with different sorts of people had given her new insight on things - especially on Tyven. Watching how Cleo treated her younger sister did too.
"Thank you."
The swan reached out in return, touched the strap of that tank.
"You, too. It's different, but it works." Another smile, smaller this time, and Emi stepped away so she could look over her shoulder. A hesitation. "I need some clothes I can wear outside of battle class and dance. Would you help me? Dagger wanted to make me some but - but they would be god awful."

"Of course."
Tyven happened to have impeccable taste. Of course, her tastes ran expensive, but that was no issue to the two girls. Bright eyes briefly locked with Emi's at the touch and something flickered across her face before she spoke, neutral.
"Casual clothing, or..." Trailing off, she opened the door to the large, spotless mall, holding it open for Emi to walk before her.

Emis smile didn't fade with the eye contact; if anything, it grew. She liked the fact Tyven wasn't shy around her, or cold. Or scary. The ballerina fluttered into the mall, Odette following close, and she spun on her heels with a little flare to the edge of her skin.
"Casual. I don't go anywhere outside of school." She shrugged, teeth worrying at her lower lip. "It can't be anything pink or black, though. Dagger will throw it out if it is."

"That should be simple to accomplish." A brief flash of predatory, too-white teeth and Tyven removed her sunglasses, tucking them into the waist-band of her tailored pants. The non-verbal communication between the two as they smoothly travered through the mall and into a high-end boutique spoke of easy companionship.
Holding open the door of the shop, Tyven immediately began evaluating the displays. Her face was blank as she appraised the store, stopping within two feet of the entrance until she deemed it satisfactory.
Possibly smelling money in Tyven's perfect posture, or Emi's calculated grace, the young woman working the counter quickly moved through the shop to assist them, her gaze going first to the clearly dominant of the two.
"May I help you ladies find anything?"

"You'd be surprised," Emi stuck close to her cousin, just slightly behind and to the side. The shop was cooler than the outside, fresh against her skin, and had her leaning into the reptile ever so gently.
The woman chose incorrectly. Emi took a step forward, her hand snaking out to take Tyven's own. She allowed herself to look straight at this saleswoman and spoke in her normal, murmur-soft voice.
"No, but thank you. My friend here has excellent taste," a smile, twitchingly timid, and the swan gently pulled at Tyven's hand. The woman had been officially dismissed as soon as her eyes went up to the taller D-Corp project; Emi smiled quietly. "I think maybe we should try pastels? I enjoy the soft colors. What do you think?"

It was true. Tyven prefered not to speak to those she wasn't close with, and instead glanced only briefly at the woman, ascertaining her harmlessness before allowing Emi to lead her through the store. The compliment felt good, and so did the physical contact.
Her tone was slightly distant, preoccupied with imagining Emi in various color combinations as she retained possession of the smaller girl's hand, running her gaze over her body.
"Yes, but... We must be selective with pastels, lest they wash you out." Still, she would definitely not be choosing black for the swan, and that had nothing to do with Dagger's preferences. "I like you in earthtones," was her idle, personal comment as she began flicking through clothing with a finger or two at a rapid place. Maybe a royal purple or deep blue...
Coming back to herself, Tyven let her hand drop away from the dresses with a slight smile. "Casual." She gestured to the jeans. "We should get you a dark wash. Maybe navy." Skinny jeans would do.

Emi didn't try to pull her hand away. Being close to someone felt nice, oddly enough, and she didn't feel it often. Holding hands with her father didn't count, not really, and Tyven was much different than Rakha could ever imagine.
"Like brown?" Emi wrinkled her nose in distaste, head shaking ever so slowly. "I... I'm not too sure I enjoy things like brown, Tyven. And, and dark greens look odd on me."
She nodded and gradually let go of Tyvens hands to trail the slightest to the side. Something bright and sparkly caught her eye - not something she would want to wear but interesting none the less. "I'll wear whatever you tell me to, Tyven. Even if it's brown."
