Good gracious sun in the sky, she hadn't eaten all morning. Granted, she normally did her best to avoid being awake in the morning, but the matter of the fact still stayed the same. It was now late (several candlemarks past when she woke up) in the morning, and she had yet to consume anything.

The nice, wonderful thing about cheese was that it kept and it tasted delicious. There weren't too many other people in the dining hall at this hour, but it didn't bother her too much. She was taking a quick break from her candidate duties, and the great building with its tables and peaceful echo were a nice place to relax and eat that cheese.

It rather made her feel like a thieving, small creature; thank goodness there were no Flits about that she could see or she'd be a theoretically dead thieving, small creature.

She was still very groggy as she hadn't gotten much sleep the night before. When had she gotten sleep last? Oh, she couldn't remember. It didn't matter much. The table supported her elbows just fine, and her hands supported her head lazily as she nibbled away at her choice treat.

One could say she was waiting. Peace like this couldn't last long. It never did, and who was she to complain. Morning company was never that bad. A grin slipped its way over her lips, and she looked a little less tired.

He stretched awkwardly as he emerged from one end of the dining hall, a cup of klah in one hand and a delicious pastry in the other. He'd had breakfast earlier, of course; Tiarenth would not let him oversleep no matter how late he was up the night before, mostly because she demanded his undivided attention first thing due to her morning oilings, which she absolutely insisted she needed. Every morning. Usually as soon as the sun came up, too. Ugh.

"Mine, you know you love to oil me first thing in the morning! I know I do, because--"

Because then I'm paying attention to you and only you, and that's the only way it should ever be. I know, he returned with an amused tone, and received a faux-irritated snort in reply. A smile formed on his lips as he took a few steps into the mostly empty hall, but then his eyes alighted on the girl nibbling on her cheese, and grin replace the smile as he sauntered closer. "G'morning," he offered cheerfully as he slid onto a bench across the table. "Didn't have breakfast this morning, or just helping yourself to a mid-morning snack?"

Uuni glanced up when the man moved into the room. He sure had a flaunting type of walk, didn't he? Straightening a little when he came closer, she tapped along the cheese with her fingers and eyed with a light smile.

"Sort of still waiting for breakfast," she answered him with a wink in his direction.

It was about this time that she tore of another small piece of her treat to eat. Later, she'd go and get some bread, but she didn't feel like gorging herself at the moment.

"It's also more like near afternoon," she added with a yawn and slunk back a little on her bench to watch him a little better. "You always eat your breakfast this late?" she asked with a look in the direction of his pastry.

His grin widened as he chuckled slightly and he rested his elbow on the table, setting his chin in his hand. "Well, if you're waiting for breakfast, I know exactly where you can find it," he countered in a distinctly suggestive tone of voice, offering her his own wink.

Shaking his head after that bit, he tore off a bit of the pastry and popped it into his mouth. "No, this is just a snack to hold me off until I can find something semi-decent for dinner. I've been up since the sun rose," he informed her with a vague wave of his pastry in some random direction, as if that could explain the whole thing, but he continued when he realized that would probably be a horrid way of explaining the reason. "Tiarenth doesn't let me sleep in, no matter how late I'm up at night. She's my green, and the most beautiful dragon in Ista." It suddenly occurred to him that probably every dragonrider said that of their dragon. ...oh well. "And, near afternoon is still morning," he added with a wry smile.

Casting him a slightly 'was that your witty comeback' look, she finished off the rest of her cheese and set to licking her fingers clean. "Mmm, well, it's good to know a man that knows his stuff." She shrugged and finished cleaning one hand and went to the other.

He'd been up since he sun rose, had he? She looked over at him and cocked her head slightly. Why on earth would anyone want to do that.

"Ah," she said when he explained and chuckled as she drug her teeth over her thumb. "That explains it." The good old dragons, and he got to ride a lovely little green.

"I'm sure she is," she answered as she saw his features change just slightly over his realization. She had no doubt that whatever dragon picked her would become the most beautiful dragon there was, so she could relate.

If ever a time came. She'd gotten over the worry of whether or not she would Impress long ago. At least, she said she had, but come morning of a Hatching, her heart was beating in anticipation along with the rest of them no matter how clam she pretended to be on the outside.

"So, if you're in here, trying to pick up women, where's your lovely dragon, then?" Mind connection or no, Uuni had to assume it would be aggravating for a dragon to deal with a person's lust. There were Flights, but what did a dragon do when people were generally, well. . . skanks, she supposed was the word.

He adjusted himself more comfortably on the bench, watching her clean her fingers and he chuckled slightly before popping another piece of the pastry into his mouth. At the mention of his dragon, he waved a hand vaguely in some direction. "Off above the herdbeast pens, trying to find one that's at least halfway decent enough to eat. We're not the only ones suffering from poor food quality lately," he explained, a bit of an irritated tone in his voice. Well, very irritated. He could handle eating the slop they called food, he could always sweet-talk some pretty face in the kitchen to slip him some treats, but there wasn't much he could do in that department for Tiarenth. Probably fairly soon they'd have to go traveling to all the holds looking for something at least decent for her, be it a herdbeast or chunks of meat.

"That would be a good idea, Mine," she piped into his thoughts, agreeing wholeheartedly. "Can we go sometime soon? All of these are looking awfully skinny and I think one of them is almost dead just standing there. None of them really look that good who are you with?" Her tone suddenly and noticeably changed with those last four words, and Z'ven groaned slightly.

No one, Tialove, just--

"You're talking to some girl aren't you? Z'venmine! What have I told you about that? You don't need any silly little human, you have me! You don't need anyone else!" An agitated bugle sounded after that somewhere in the Weyrbowl, and the greenrider sighed and rubbed his temple a bit.

"She doesn't like when I try to pick up women, she gets rather.. jealous." Oh dear, he'd be swimming tonight, he was sure...

Uuni knew; it was a lot of what she heard about from the riders lately. If it wasn't their own food they were complaining about, it was their dragon's.

When he went slightly quiet and groaned, Uuni had half a guess who he was talking to. It was actually extremely amusing. His dragon sounded like a handful.

She'd been told as a candidate that dragons had their own personality and they had to adapt to many things to help that grow, but it seemed as thought Z'ven were experiencing that in full force.

"And what does she do when you actually pick up your women, Z'ven? Am I in any grave danger?" She wondered how many women he'd avoided telling this to and how many had paid some sort of consequence.

For now, however, she was enjoying basking in his slight misery. Sure, she'd be willing to screw him, but he didn't show up as anything special thusfar.

"Then I'm in trouble," he said with a chuckle. And it was true; he'd be going swimming later for sure at this point, and most likely left out of his own weyr for the night. "And no, no danger. Unless you can't swim, but you don't have to worry about that unless you go for a ride on her, and she wouldn't allow that. I, however, will likely be dumped into the lake at some point tonight at least once. She also enjoys finding buckets or barrels and filling them with water and doing fly-by soakings, too, but usually only to me. She probably won't do it to you and even if she thinks about it, she'll probably just forget about it in a few days anyway," he explained, his playful mood rather ruined at this point. "And besides, if you were in any danger, I'd come rescue you in a heartbeat, but only if I got to you before a particular blue dragon in my wing; if you ever see a blue harassing females, mostly Candidates, that's him."

"Z'venmine! You are to get out of that dining hall this instant or you're sleeping in the lake tonight!" The angry green threatened into his mind, flying away from the herdbeast pens with an empty stomach, and landing outside the dining hall. She knew she couldn't fit in there though, but she could at least see him and hopefully he'd come out. Then she'd toss him in the lake for misbehaving. Honestly! She would never understand Hers behavior around women. She was Tiarenth, and much better than any flimsy human girl.

Yes, he'd definitely be going swimming later, as he leaned over a bit and saw the head of his enraged dragon peeking in at him through the doorway, her eyes swirling red and orange.

"Although.." He began, his rather unhappy frown slowly turning into a grin, "We'll be fine as long as we stay inside, she can't fit in here." With that, he finished his pastry and licked his fingers clean, but sadly, for once, he couldn't think of anything witty to say after that. Shards. "So tell me, do you practice any crafts, Uuni?"

Oh, lovely. Sighing lightly, Uuni decided she wished she had some Klah to stir. The gentleman kinds were nice and all, but the Weyr was full of them. Where were the rough, 'i hate you' people? Now that would be a real catch.

She yawned when he went on with his speech and groaned. "That's all I need is a blue dragon following be around scaring me half to death." She would make a mental note to avoid any blue dragons until she Impressed and her partner was old enough to fight off any such a male. Or maybe she could befriend a woman with a nice big Queen and force such a dragon away from her. Either, or.

"That's real comforting, Z'ven, real comforting. When your dragon's eyes are blood-red, I'll be sure to remember to stay inside." She was laughing as he said it, however. Inside, she was plotting ways to only get indoor chores.

"Crafts?" she asked after a while. What was this sudden talk about crafts? Actually, maybe they could talk about crafts. Her stomach had started to growl and she suddenly lost her mood to do anything other than shift through chores.

"Uhm. No, not really. Why?" What was so special about crafts? Other than they were useful, could be pretty, and were wonderful things to do in ones spare time. "Do you do any crafts?"
