Tsukasa stepped as slowly as she could through the brush, being careful not to scare off any lingering prey. She had an arrow in hand, strung onto her bow but not yet drawn, awaiting the time that a rabbit wandered into her midst, or even a deer, which would also be nice. It was her job to hunt tonight, and she was determined not to fail this time. Of course, she had only failed the one time she'd misplaced her bow and arrows and had been stuck using a spear.

Despite her mother saying it was important to learn all different kinds of magic, Tsukasa truly believed that her wind magic could do anything and everything for her. Tail flicking back and forth slightly, she stepped forward upon catching sight of a rabbit, pulling the arrow back and closing one of her bright blue eyes, a slow smile coming to her face as she loosened one hand and let the arrow fly.

Taran wandered deeper into the woods before he heard a rustling sound. A look of pure horror crossed his face when he watched the rabbit get shot. He looked at the culprit, a lovely light-colored teen-aged cattaur. She didn't appear to know he was there, but he could never tell due to his bright colors.. though she was rather bright herself. He stepped out, and slightly closer to her. "You know, rabbits have feelings too, right?" His green eyes looked sad as he glanced at the rabbit again.

Tsukasa grinned as the air-conducted arrow hit its target spot-on, piercing the rabbit through the chest with no hesitation, causing the creature no less than a completely painless death if the creature even had a moment to fear the death that was coming to it. She pressed the palms of her hands together, opening her mouth to utter a silent prayer before she was interrupted, opening one eye, and then the other, blinking slowly at the male before smiling sadly.

"That may be true, but it is and forever will be the circle of life for us carnivores," she said with a soft chuckle, stepping toward the carcass and kneeling down to tie its legs before she hoisted it over her shoulder, offering the other what she thought was a comforting smile. "It's not my favourite thing to do, I promise; I would never do such a thing for sport, but... my family does need to eat."

Taran made a dissatisfied look "I live just fine off of fish and plants..." he took a few steps forward, the flowers growing in his antlers shifting to one side as he tilts his head. "I leave the land animals to themselves." He shook his head to rid it of the image of the rabbit getting shot, something that was very disturbing for him. Why must people eat animals..? Then again.. it would be bad if they died from starving... He glared down at his hoofs for his logic. Why couldn't he at least make sense to himself? Finally, he sighed.
"I guess I can understand where you're coming from... I won't ask you to change your ways, especially since not many people seem to feel the same way I do." he continued to frown a little, looking from the rabbit to the cattaur.

Despite a single hand being occupied, the girl reset her one hand, fingers straight, in a vertical position similar to her earlier position. Quietly, she murmured a prayer for the creature now deceased, eyes closing for only a moment before she glanced back toward the bright pink cervitaur with a gentle smile, chuckling in mild amusement.

"Fish are animals, too, though. Can' t be forgetting that," she noted, tapping a scolding finger at him before slipping her bow back over one shoulder and re-quivering the arrow, looking toward the other curiously. Extending the hand that had touched her meal least, she smiled pleasantly at him. "The name's Tsukasa, Tsuki for short. Nice to meet you," she said sweetly, tipping her head to the side cutely. She was unaware that she was unconsciously flirting with a male cervi who was a decent age span older than she was.

"I know fish are animals.. but eating them doesn't bother me." He couldn't help but think the younger cattaur was cute, if not even maybe a little attractive... "Taran. That's my name." he said as he took her hand, shaking it gently. "It's nice to meet you, Tsuki." He nodded, and his age of early 20's showed the most when he smiled down at her.

His green eyes were bright, and he actually looked his age once instead of older. "I like you." he said, out of nowhere. "You have a good personality."

Tsukasa smiled brightly in response to his reply, nodding firmly. "Suppose I know what you mean. Same way that the waterdwellers see it opposite, eh?" she asked, winking at him and chuckling happily, smiling as she shook his hand. "Taran, then. Have to try and remember that," she said with another gentle laugh. "Not quite used to remembering names outside'a the family. Never really had a chance to be social given I'm only just reaching teenhood," she said with a shake of the head. She'd been trying to get out before that, of course, but that was inconsequential.

The girl actually let out a surprisingly hearty laugh for someone as small as she was, grinning from ear-to-ear at his random comment. "Well, that's soemthin' you don't hear everyday," she said, still laughing lightly at the comment. "You're not so bad yourself, Tarry, my friend," she responded with a nod and tip of an imaginary hat, thrusting a nickname at him without a thought of whether or not he would want it. She looked at the rabbit on her back and then at the pink cervi before nodding firmly, as though she'd decided something very important. "Know what? I think you're comin' home with me for dinner. For that matter, any chance you know of a good fishin' stream around here?"

Taran laughed "Don't worry, even after reaching adulthood, I have never been social." He grinned at her slightly, his awkwardness showing a little. "The more you get to know someone the easier it is to remember their name, Tsuki." He didn't mind having a nickname.

Taran turned slightly red at her demanding he come to dinner, since he himself couldn't cook worth anything. "I'll show you a good place to catch some fish." Slowly, he took the lead to walk deeper into the woods. After a few moments of walking, they came upon a rather small, but crisp and clear spring-fed stream that was full of fish. He smiled down at the water, occasionally catching sight of their scales flashing light. "It should be pretty easy to catch fish here.", he said, wondering what kind of food she could, and would, cook.

"Ah, is that so? Pity; lot'ta people could benefit from a friend like you, given how you've been so far," Tsukasa replied cheerily, tail flipping back and forth a bit. "Least as far as I can tell; which isn't too much so far." She laughed again, nodding with the idea of peoples' names being easier to remember the longer they were known.

"Right you are. After all'a that, I can't quite recall when I knew my parent's or my brother's names, same with the grandparents, so certainly does make sense to me," she replied, trotting a bit after her new friend, smiling brightly at the stream that he'd shown her to, pale blue eyes gleaming. "Easy? This should be cake walk!" Tsuki said, wiggling a bit as she ducked her head down to inspect the water before smiling up at Taran with a it of a playful little smirk. "And don't you worry; just for you, I'll ensure 'em a quick and painless death."

Taran smirked. "I appreciate the effort to give them a painless death." He had been raised to respect and love nature, and to despise death. He had a very deep connection to plants, and he even felt bad for eating them. His diet really was mostly fish...

He tilted his head slightly. "I do wonder about your ability to fish." he was attempting to tease her. "Usually, when you're confident.. you're making up for something." his expression was playful.

The young woman nodded to her new friend. "I quite agree. 'Specially with fish, t'be honest. Not enough of a challenge for accidental, semi-fatal wounds t'be a good idea, y'know what I mean?" she replied sweetly, tugging her spear off her back and twirling it between a couple of her fingers. She stepped closer to the water, digging her claws into the hard ground beneath her feet and making sure to keep from making any ripples. Beneath the surface of the water, a shimmering of scales danced, the fuzzy outline of fish that dared swim so close to the surface of the water.

When the male spoke, she was already posed to strike, pale blue eyes glancing in his direction, muscles firmly staying in the very same place. She grinned widely, showing of teeth sharp enough to still be a kitten's, making it obviously that only recently had she lost her own kitten teeth. "Y'so sure 'bout that? Well, I'll certainly prove to ya that I've got nothin' t'be makin' up for," she replied, smirking with that same level of arrogance she'd spoken with before. Without another moment of hesitation, she drove the tip of the spear through a relatively large fish, pulling it up out of the water. It had been stabbed straight through the stomach, and squirmed for only a moment before falling still. As she'd said and promised, a clean kill.
