Heh heh heh. I LOVE books. Aside from special people I care about, I love them more than anything and everything. Actually...They're tied with videogames, but ANYWAYS..
A good series for vampire lovers would be Twilight, of course. But if you're looking for something different (because personally, i'm tired of hearing about that damned series. The books were good, but they went way overboard with everything else) then I would have to strongly suggest Kerri Hawkins' series Bloodlegacy. It's not a hard read, and it's very well detailed. It had some intimate scenes, some serious action, and gives an entirely new outlook on vampires. It makes the Cullens look like little school girls.
If you're looking for Fairies, i'd have to say go with Artemis Fowl for a lighter, happier read. It's still pretty interesting, and I personally like it, but it's more of a book for younger teens. I still read it, though. I'm not entrirely sure who the author of the series is, though. Just google Artemis Fowl and you'll find plenty of hits.
For a darker, more gothic side to fairies and other fairytale creatures, go with Holli Black. She's a very good author who puts a lot of detail into her books, which are definately for more mature teenagers. In her books, fairies definately aren't all nice and pretty. The first book of hers that i'd recommend is called Tithe.
If you want just a quick read that's interesting, or if you're into skateboarding, i'd recommend Paranoid Park by Blake Nelson.
More or less for adults, Dean Koontz writes really well-kept, detailed, interesting books. My two strongest recommendations from his books would be The Door to December and Lightning. Both are very interesting, and Lightning gives an interesting outlook on a soldier from WW2. I'd tell you more, but i'm not sure how to without spoiling it. I've read it time and time again, though.
If you want something like dungeons and dragons, then i'd go with Mealanie Rawn's Dragon Prince series. I only own the first two in the series, but they're very good. They're long, though, so if you don't have a long attention span, I wouldn't try them.
Also, for a more bloody, gory, mature dungeons and dragons, go with the Forgotten Realms series. It's really good, and I have a couple of those books. I'd recommend Bloodwalk from that series. I'd give the author, but there are different authors for the series.
If you're more into books that are murder mysteries or real life stuff, then the authors i'd push your way would be John Sanford, Danielle Steele, John Grisham, and Rodney Pearson. If you're into westerns and cowboys and mountain men, then go with the Wilderness Series. The author is David Thompson, and there are somewhere around 50 books to the series. The books aren't very big, though, but they ARE good and pretty accurate to history. They've been modified to make the books more intense and interesting, though.
If you have a genre I didn't cover, and you'd like me to recommend a book or author, feel free to PM me. I have books from each of the authors I listed, and many many more. I've read each and every one, and I like them all. <.<...>.>...I still strongly recommend Holli Black and Kerri Hawkins, though.
Oh! And Sherrilyn Kenyon! She's the author of the Dark-Hunter/Dream-Hunter series, as well as several other books. She's my favorite author next to K.H. and H.B., so I STRONGLY recommend her. Especially to those interested in vampires and mythology.
