Bits of himself lifted into the night sky, a smile hovering on thin lips. He had left the girl back in that little shack she called a home; slumped over her coals and cauldron. It felt good to get away from the spiritual ball-and-chain for awhile.

His hooves danced, cloven and momentary, over Kell's ebbing tide. The moon shone off of the water, pale orb appearing bloody as it reflected in auburn eyes. No mortal breeze lifted off of the sea, yet dark tendrils of Lysombre's hair cast themselves backward, mingling with more wisps of his mana. And smiling wider, Somber lifted his hands to the wide water in front of him and laughed. The soft tenor sound stayed for a moment in the air before being blown away, like the rest of him.

Between his outstretched hands, electric blue fires glimmered. In an instant, a smattering of bones appeared from their light - their small size and peculiar shape were common to finger-bones, knuckles, bits of tooth and joint. Some were decidedly more human in shape than others. Somber watched the way these bones appeared with great concentration before flicking his fingers; the flames swallowed them up again.

He dropped his arms and kept his thoughts to himself as he turned away from the waves, steps hovering across the damp sand.

The outskirts of the port side town seemed to still. This part of the makeshift map hadn't been drawn to very good detail. It wasn't what was to be expected so far as the map had shown. In one swift movement the map was folded. The old parchment crinkling in protest. In the shadows of the night a dark hole grew and soon as it had shown up the map had disappeared within. The air about was still and held a chill. Absently thinking her hand came up to play with the necklace that hung loosely about her neck. She wanted to explore and she'd not turn back. Jason had said she shouldn't stay within the forest. He was going to be out and about. The Port city held no real luster for the playful little Fey.

It was the soft fall of the waves the lulled Davenya away from the city. The song they sang was pleasing to Davenya. It was one that was temptingly pleasing but could easily become one that was harsh and unrelenting. It was a song of old. She'd fallen asleep many times with her window open listening to the song before her death. It was relaxing and it lullaby was one that never ceased. As long as time continued the sea would still sing it's songs of dreams and nightmares. Both were quite alluring to Davenya. Her horn glowed a dull white. A small sign of the excitement that was growing as her little feet took her to the sea.

The sand was soft and slightly warm between her little toes. The light of the moon bounced off her glasses and seemed to intensify the white of her fur. Her blue marks pulsed as if they were taking in the moon light. Her Jet black hair seemed to take on a silver luster as the moon boor down upon her head. Davenya felt little pebbles of sand and such amongst the sand. The sea looked dark and welcoming as she neared the shoreline. It's unrelenting waves crashing down upon each other turned on a greyish white froth of bubbles. A little further away along the shoreline Davenya could see a shadow hovering just about the sand. She cocked her head to the side and contemplated it's purpose before she stepped further forward. The waves pushed water up to her toes. Her mind still clung to the curiosity of the shadow that was further down the shore line. Without realizing what she meant to do the shadows about her gathered despite the bright moon. Within moments she was moving swiftly down the shoreline to the shadow till it could be better seen. It was only then that the little white fey stepped out of the shadows that had brought her down the shore line. Stepping from the shadow realm Davenya could make out a ghostling. Not in great detail but she could tell now that it was a Poltergiest like Storm. She stood there contemplating the meaning of the ghostling presence on the shoreline. She remained a slight distance off while her mind wandered about. Unsure if she should continue forward and meet the ghostling or not. Her feet of their own accord took her forward one small step at a time.

Somber lifted his hands, summoning the fires of his youth once again. They hung electric and sparkling, only partially hidden by his larger hands. An explosion of blue light, and the fires belched out the eerie bones again - Lysombre was intent on them as they emerged, watching the way they "fell".

His hands clasped, making fire swallow bones before disappearing. He was on the right track, the bones told him. Just a little farther up the beach... Somber lifted his head to gaze down the shoreline.

In the same moment, his head snapped to the side. Strands of dark hair wafted over his face, blown by some unseen night breeze. It was impossible to miss such stark white against the dark, and Somber's eyes narrowed to realize that she could have been standing there for ages, and he none the wiser. The Poltergeist's eyes narrowed, and he watched suspiciously as the Fey came closer. Was she here to still what was his?

As Davenya continued in her approach it was not long before she found herself relatively near to the other ghostling. Her Black hair pulled back in Pig Tails swung back and forth as she moved. She saw something Blue dance between the ghostlings hands. Davenya's eyes were drawn to the bright color. If she'd been standing still she'd have jumped in an excited manner. The horn that rested atop her head began to glow slightly brighter.

Not to far from the other ghostling Davenya stopped. Her eye's eventually drifted away from the ghostlings hands and toward his face. She cocked her head to the side and watched him intently. A small smile played on her lips. "That is pretty. Can I see you do it again?" Now that she was still she bobbed up and down slightly. This caused her glasses to fall down her nose. She sighed and lifted them. "Are you drawn to the sea? Why are you here?" She cocked her head to the other side and her hair bobbed again. "Is it the song of the sea?" She laced her fingers together in front of her. Behind her her tail swing back and forth slowly like a pendulum.

Somber frowned as the bright Ghostling came closer, her form growing larger as she neared him across the sands. It wasn't until he had been watching her for a prolonged second or two that the idea came to him that he could be moving away. Or running. Or... something, other than just standing and waiting for her to come. He did manage a step back, free-flowing mana licking the surface of the water - but then she was too close, and Somber realized with a blink that any further movement would be improper.

For a moment, the Poltergeist only floated and looked at her. To one that barely spoke, her questions were slightly overwhelming. Waiting until she fell silent again, Somber dismissed the confusing muddle with a shake of his head. How would he explain this? "I'm... looking for something. That's why I'm here."

His voice, a rumble that sounded lower than it might have if he used it more, paused as he tried to figure out what she meant. "Pretty...? Oh." His hands lifted as Somber got it: she meant the summoning of the bones. "No, no I can't do that again. I only do it when I don't know where to look."

Davenya stood on tip toes and swung her hands at her sides and then lowered from her tip toes. She did this in a fluid motion continuously as she watched the other ghostling. Once he had finished Davenya frowned slightly and stopped her movement. Her tail began to droop and her horn dulled in color."Oh So no more pretty Fire... or That's what it kinda looked like... My eyes aren't so good." She stared at the ground.

After a few moments of pouting Davenya jerked her head up and grinned. "You said you were looking for something? Right? SO that's kinda like Hide and seek with an Item or an object. So you don't know where it is... so you could do the little light thingy later... Like if you continue to search right? I wanna come. Can I? Can I?" With her rambling's Davenya's horn began to glow more brightly. Her eyes seemed to dance and sparkle as they darted about looking across the span of the beach and then at the other ghostling. "Oh we could make it a game. Maybe like who could find it first or something. Don't cha think that'd be fun"

Then a thought crossed Davenya's mind. In all her rambling she hadn't yet said she could come with him. Let alone that they could make a game of it. With that her horn's glow dimmed and she sighed before looking to the other ghostling hopeful.

Somber frowned, mist whipping at his feet. "Fire. Yeah, it's fire." He narrowed his eyes, looking at her curiously - night was as day to him, better even. Her eyes were not good? Well... that made sense. How many ghosts did one see with glasses on?

The barrage of speaking made him go kind of slack-jawed again, but he was getting better at it; he could actually pull off a reply this time. "You want to come with me?" The look on his face was guarded. "I guess... If you really want to. But if you do, we'll look together. No games." At least, no who-can-find-it-first kind of games. If he couldn't talk her off (and let's face it, she had him beat with talking) then he could use the extra set of eyes. As long as the treasure was his in the end - and Somber planned to make sure of that.

Always shoot for the Moon...

Davenya grinned brightly at him saying she could come along and aid in his search. She was slightly dismayed that they couldn't make a game of the whole ordeal but it promised to be fun none the less. Davenya clapped lightly rocking on her feet again. "I like your pretty Fire. So what are we lookin' for partner." Davenya with a slight pep in her step happily moved toward the other ghostling.

Once she got over to him she realized that she had no clue as to whom this guy was. Davenya paused and cocked her head to the side before allowing a wide grin to spread across her face. She then stuck her hand out to the other ghostling while grinning and proceeded introduced herself. "I'm Davenya and it's a pleasure to be able to work with you."

...because even if you miss you'll land in the stars.

Rather than risk being confused by the other Ghostling yet again, Somber turned away. He could feel her moving beside him, and raised his hands again, lifted steps carrying him further down (or up?) the shore.

"We're looking for a rock. It's... more than a rock, but that's what it looks like." He frowned, trying to make its shape in his hands. From the look of it, it was a pretty big rock. "I saw it falling into the water, a couple of nights ago. Right out of the sky." Giving up on making the shape of the stone, Lysombre swept back a stray strand of hair and glanced over at the Fey. "It might be very bright, and shiny. It looked that way when it fell."

It took a moment of looking at her for Somber to realize that she had stopped moving. A moment after that, he realized what she'd said. Tentatively, the Poltergeist curled a barely-solid hand around Davenya's fingers, his huge ones dwarfing hers.

"Call me Somber. And yeah. It's good to work with you, too."

Davenya stared in awe as his hand dwarfed hers. She grinned as he said it was good to work with her. "Well Somber let us get on with it" She rubbed her fur down and headed off in the direction she thought he meant to head. "I remember something from a long time ago." She nodded her head curtly as she thought about what she said. She paused as a shadow appeared at her side. She dipped her hand into it and pulled out David's old and yellowing journal. She then continued to walk flipping through the pages Until she came across some pages that looked as if they didn't belong.

Tapping the pages lightly she nods while continuing forward "Well the rock may not be bright anymore." Taps the page and holds it up pointing to a small section on the pages. "David wrote here that the light and such could be just the rocks reaction or something to breaking through the atmosphere" Lowers the book in thought. "However it says nothing about the shiny."

Somber glanced over at her, eyes widening as they took in the book and the pages it held. His head craned so that his hovering body followed. "Where did you get that?" He rumbled, curiously. "Who is David; and how did he know about something I saw mere nights ago?" His steps trailed faintly after her, fingers listing slowly after the book she held.
PostPosted: Tue Jul 28, 2009 3:32 pm

Davenya shrugged. " I don't know how David knew what all he knew. He was just a little too smart for his own good ya know?" She nodded at her hypothetical statement/question. She sighed and dropped into a shadow that seemed to once more be nipping at her heels. With that she dropped the book into the shadow and it was swallowed whole. Then Davenya jerked her head up and glanced back at Somber. "Oh No this isn't about your little rock thing. This is an old book... well not old old but certainly over a few days old." She avoided his question about who David was and sighed. She'd just tossed the book back into the shadow's. She began absently walking and ended up walking closer to the shoreline then before.

The cool night water began too lap up over Davenya's feet causing them to look a murky Grey where the water touched her white fur. She then looked up to the moon and saw that soon a cloud would be covering part of the moon. It was shade the moons light causing it to become darker. Davenya didn't mind. With her mild excitement her horn faintly glowed. She then paused in her walking and tapped her chin. She slightly pursed her lips and the shadow came crawling back to her side. She knelt down and stuck her hand in through the shadow. Her hand seemed to sink down into the sand as she searched the shadow. After a moment or two she pulled the book back out. She smiled at the piece of new paper that stuck out. She pulled the little note out and read it quickly. She nodded curtly smiling before dropping the note and letting it float down into the shadow to be consumed.

Davenya held the book back up and flipped through the pages to where she had it earlier. She scanned through it while the water continued to lap up about her feet. She tapped it lightly. She sighed and shook her head mumbling "Should have grabbed the map." She nodded softly. Holding the book in one hand she snapped it shut and turned to Somber. "I think David may have seen something like what you saw..." She nods and steps out of the water. "However I don't see where he found it." Davenya shrugged softly

Surprise narrowed Somber's wide eyes and tilted his mouth into a frown. He glared at the place where Davenya had vanished, his head turning effortlessly to where she reappeared. How was it possible-?

Even if she didn't know it, the Fey had just distracted Somber from the mysterious David completely.

"You shine so brightly," Somber said, striding after her down the shore, "and yet..." He frowned; dipped two fingers into the shadow at her feet. Retracting them quickly, he reached across the sands - quickly, his fingers distending as they lost tangibility and shape - to hook another fading shadow in his fingers. Pulling it close to him, the Poltergeist began to spin it in his hands as one would spin a platter. "And yet, you do this. As easily as I do." His frown deepened. "How?"

He didn't need a map. He had his bones, ready at his fingertips. But this, currently, was far more interesting than a single stone from the sky.
PostPosted: Tue Jul 28, 2009 5:44 pm

Davenya continued to ponder what David had stumbled upon when he was still with her. Till Somber began speaking. She cocked her head to the side and listened to his questions that sounded much like concerns. Though not for her own safety but rather a concern for something other that which Davenya could not quite explain or put her finger on.

Davenya tapped he chin in though as he spoke. "Well I didn't think it was all that important really. Did you hear what I said about the Journal?" She shifted and sighed. Her glowing horn dimmed slightly as she stared at the ground where the shadows seemed to be dancing about her feet. She brought her head up slowly and looked at Somber. The Moon light reflected off her glasses before the cloud Davenya saw earlier began to consume the moon. She sighed heavily. "Listen I don't know how. But I can't quite manipulate or whatever it is that your doing with the shadows. Shadows just seem to come to me. All I can do with the shadows is slip through them. I slip into a world of shadows and such. The sight is kind of cloudy so you can't really see anything other then blobs and such but It's a quick and easy form of travel. It helps me get from here, home, and back again." Davenya nodded curtly contemplating if she should further answer his question by explaining David's theory on the power. For she hadn't really answered him but explained that what she did was not what he did. In contemplation she grew silent with her finger tapping her chin.

Somber hmmphed, gruffly. "I heard you. But I have yet to meet one who can do as I do." His fingers left the shadow - as soon as they did, it lost its disc-like shape and fell like water onto the sand, settling surreal against the grains. The Poltergeist forgot about it, touching his face. "You don't do... exactly what I do. But you don't suffer for it, either." His eyes narrowed on Davenya, her face free of the marks that obscured his own.

He huffed again, this one sounding more like a grunt. "Whatever. It sounds like your David found something like the stone. Does it say what he did about it?" Somber's hands fell from his face, opening again in front of him. The glow that preceded the electric blue fire surrounded them.

He'd wasted enough time; needed to get back to the search.
