 It was morning and Rio was up and early to go to his favourite hang out. It was a open field by where his family lived. It was a open place were many people took their foals to play and meet others. So it was usually packed. Although on this spring morning there was no sign of life what so ever. Then again who would honestly come here just as the sun was raising. Looking back over the watchful eyes of his family. He ran out into the grass and laughed flapping his wings and wondering who else would show up today.
The gentle breeze blew past his making the little mane he had blow. Today was going to be the day, when he took off for the skies he was sure of it. In his blood and in his mind. He was sure. With a small smile he looked around as others seemed to be coming into the playground. He smiled and ran through the field looking for someone to play with. "Okay... one... two..." he began to count covering his face with his wings. When he got to ten... he was going to meet a new friend... It was his system... and it seemed to work.

 Stripe woke feeling empty and lonely, her mother was snuggled up with her father, and her brother was snuggled with her sister, she slept alone shivering slightly.
Brian was no-where to be seen, so she got up and skittered off, one thing she shared with her great cousin and father as well as their stripes was their early bird qualities. Heading to the clearing, it was so early she wouldn't expect anyone to be there yet.
But there was someone there, in the distance...a winged foal.
She pretended not to notice, her feeling were hurt by her family problems.
She just sniffed at the grass and munched, to fill her hungry belly.

Rio continued counting...
*8...9...10... ready or not." he called and then opened his eyes to look around. What luck! he spotted something purple in the grass. A young filly who seemed to be having her breakfast. He skipped over. He was such a morning person. He was in the mood to play, he hoped he had found a friend which would do so with him!
"Hello there!"
He called approaching her with a big friendly smile on his face.

Stripe stopped mid-munch wit grass hanging out of her mouth she looked up and gulped it down quickly.
She cocked her head to one side,"Hello."
'He's approaching me?'
She blinked as he skipped towards her, he seemed very cheery,
that is something she needed, something cheerful, so she smiled,
and dropped her sadness, when he came close,"Hello, I'm Stripe. Who might you be",she asked flicking her tail.

"Me? My name is Rio De Genero." He stated with a rather large smile. "Rio for short." He added with a small bow to greet the female. He wondered what she was doing out here on her own, then again he was in the same situation. He was just happy she had greeted him back.
"Its a nice day isn't it? So... are you here on your own?" he asked tilting his head wondering if she was here with anyone. Then he thought that question might have been a bit too personal to ask so he just smiled and flicked his wings slightly. "Do you want to play with me for a while?"

"Lovely name, makes mine sound rubbish",she joked,"nice too meet you Rio",she bowed back and shook her mane.
"A lovely day, it's only early but it'll get better", she nodded with a wide smile, then she stopped nodding,"why yes I am. Are you too?"
She jumped around in a playful manner,"I'd love to, it sounds like fun."
She nudged him,"can you fly yet?"
She was intrigued by his wings.

Rio looked at her with a small smile. The he looked to the side for a moment. "No I can not fly yet my mother is yet to teach me. Although I can not wait until I can. I am going to fly higher than anyone ever has its a ambition of mine!" He said proudly. Even though he had done nothing yet to be proud of. Then again his pride was enough.
"Okay then so what do you want to do? I am in the mood for playing hide and seek maybe?" He asked with a small smile.

"When you learn you must show me. Oh how I'd love to be able to fly",she sighed, tilting her head back, and jumping up on her back legs, soon to reach the ground again,"go as high as you can, but not too high. It's too dangerous, you might end up in space",she laughed, she knew he probably couldn't go into space, but she liked at joke.
"Okay. Who do you want to go first? Would you like to start counting, or should I?" She waggled her little bottom, while bitting a chuck out of the grass again, her stomach rumbled, but she just ignored it, and thought maybe the new stranger could be fun after all.

"Hmm then one day I shall bring you some cloud back. From the sky that is. So you can know what one feels like." He smiled and laughed with her and her comment about space. Was it possible to go that high? he wondered for a moment before he came back to reality.
"Hmm well I have just counted. I mean I counted thats when I found you. So I guess it is your go now." he nodded with a smile on his lips. He turned to her and nodded. "Okay then get counting. Remember if you want me to come out shout Marco!"
He explained awaiting her start. He had just the place in mind.

Stripe nodded to him, indicating that she understood, while a smile crept back onto her face, she wasted no time and turned her back, closing her eyes and she began to count,"1…2…3…4…5…6…7…8…9…10. Ready or not here I come!!"
She quickly about-turned to her previous position and Rio was no where to be seen,"I'll find you",she exclaimed, whilst trying to think where he could be,
she pranced around the clearing, he seemed to be a good hider, the clearing wasn't a good place to hide, to open.
'Maybe he's in the bushes?'

Rio ran behind a tree and dived hear first into some little bushes which had white flowers all over them. He smiled and closed his eyes trying to cover himself with his wings before she had a chance to count to her last number. He thought that if he was not able to see then she would not be able to find him, strange logic yes. Although to the young one it was worth a try.
He smiled and kept quiet hearing her move about. Was she getting closer?

Stripe skipped around and jumped in and out to the bushes, twigs got caught in her mane causing her to shake them out,"Rio I'm coming to get you", she warned running up to the tree rio was behind, she didn't notice he was on the other side, she just turned her back to the tree and started scanning for signs of life and her ears perked up to listen for breathing.
