Life had been reasonably quiet since Raccoon had sworn herself to secrecy regarding his existence. Or rather, a more accurate interpretation of events would have been that it had been quiet. The secrecy that he had sworn the critter to was now a moot point all thanks to the unannounced and very abrupt reunion with his eldest brother. It had only taken a few seconds for this reunion to turn sour; not because the brothers disliked one another, but moreso because of what Fenghuang had done. Even he could recognise that he had indeed lacked in consideration for his family and their wellbeing when it came to the subject but eh...
It was simple really, his cover had been blown.
Fenghuang was a stallion who was more than happy to admit to his mistakes as and when they appeared but he would sooner have done it in a more appropriate place. Such was the anger of Ambroise that his voice had risen considerably higher than Fenghuang had ever seen it go. It was enough to resonate through the forests and the leaves had quaked as Fenghuang had been chastised under the borderline disgusted glare of his brother. Obviously his princess had been disturbed by the noise and the illusion he had created was shattered. She now knew he was here, frankly the entire forest now knew he was here!
She hadn't reacted well to him either, their previous encounters hadn't gone smoothly - in fact no encounter had gone smoothly between Princess and bodyguard but it was seemingly worse this time round. She had needed time to recover from the shock of his existence and 'hideous' appearance while he had to face up to his responsibilities and return home.
Fantastic.
Peachy.
Waahoo and all that jazz.
However before he could even consider walking over the threshold he was to clean himself up (on pain of death via his brother). In a manner of speaking this prospect didn't horrify him, a bath would be very refreshing it was just that he had worked so hard to get the forest monster look. He'd completely mastered the mud encrusted, leaf ridden fur-ball illusion that it was a bit of a disappointment to see it go! Alright, so he absolutely stank but he could point out that this deterred the majority of the predators because he smelt worse than death itself.
He heaved a sigh and pushed his way through the undergrowth, his mud encrusted mane clapping periodically against his cheek as a reminder of its existence. It wouldn't be long until he breached the forest edge and then he would proceed casually towards the lake. There was a possibility that he would dive bomb into it but he hadn't quite decided if he wanted to ruin the reindeer pelt slung across his back just yet - it held more sentimental value than many could comprehend...

Abloec had been wandering the area for a while now, but he was still getting used to all the greenery. The home in the desert where he had grown up was mixes of browns, he often forgot that he blended into the grass, much like he was doing now as he napped in the shade by the lake. Having enjoyed a refreshing wash he had layed down and fallen asleep, not that it mattered to him right now as he was far away and dreaming. Though it had mattered to a young mare not long ago who had been looking for mushroom and ended up inhaleing his tail. Momenterily embarasing but it had ended well and they had wandered and talked.
But his lack of remembering that he now matches the scenery lead him to one again be semi camoflaged in the grass while asleep. Not that being steped on would majorly bother him, he was a pretty easy going guy, though being stepped on would hurt. Strangely this was what he was dreaming about as he lay in the grass, another scenario where he was camoflaged and trodden on this time... how odd...

He squinted as he broke through the forest's tree line. No longer protected by the vast canopy that lurked above his head, he was subject to the unforgiving attentions of the sun. As a mountain soquili and one who still had much of his winter coat this made for a sorry state of affairs. He wouldn't complain about it though, he suspected that the pelt and the layers of mud did nothing to assist him with easing his plight and as a consequence he simply heaved another sigh and continued on. His acceptance of the overwhelming heat may have been one thing, unfortunately it didn't necessarily mean that it didn't have an affect on him. As observant as he might have been when conditions were in his favour, it was vastly affected when he was tired, had a headache and happened to be on the brink of spontaneously bursting into flames.
Suffice to say that it should have come at no surprise that a collision course was imminent. Oh, he wouldn't step on the camoflauged stallion, he would stop long before it reached that point but he couldn't guarantee that there wouldn't be any contact. He was fast (this much was true) but he couldn't move as swiftly as the lightning within the clouds when it was at it's most energetic. Perhaps it was something he could have avoided if he had more care and consideration for his own appearance but that was in hindsight now. Never one to live by hindsight he would agree that the sooner he hit the water the better.
Alas, as the bridge between camoflauged stallion and furball of doom decreased a small smile crept on to the red stallion's lips and he hummed. The anticipation of a cool bath was a nice one, the prospect of losing his masterful disguise outweighed by the possibility of comfort. The cool water seeping into his thick coat, massaging his muscles and shooing away all desire his limbs may have had to spontaneously combust. It would be perfect!
"Ahhhh, glorious day!" He mused to no one in particular, voicing his opinions in his ever agreeable manner just as his hoof touched a solid form. At first he assumed it was a rock, nudged again without looking down.
Another nudge.
Unsurprisingly it didn't budge and before he had fully thought through his actions he gave the 'stone' a swift kick and then looked down. It was only then that he realised he had not been dealing with a rock but a hulking mass of green that seemed to be a soquili. Evidently his sense of tact had died alongside his manners and personal hygience.
"Oh - well," he arched a brow beneath his encrusted mane and took a single step back to inspect the half slumbering soquili. "I guess you weren't a rock then, sorry mate!" He offered with a chuckle.

Abloec had started to wake from his drem at the poke, but he had passed it off as part of his odd dream. Afterall when dreaming of something that turns out to actually BE happening whats a guy to do. But the kick definately woke him up with a start. Shades skewed as he looks up and around all groggy.
Not realy noticing the other stallion at first, mistaking him for a bush before having woken up more. Geting to his feet as the other one talks. Blinking at the bush for a moment then realising it was another soquili. "I'm not a rock, and your not a bush... guess we both are mistaken..." grinning after a moment. "Apology accepted... uhhh bush friend..." Tilting his head not really sure what to say, but he shrugged it off and grinnd, as long as he wasn't upsetting others he was golden. "Its no worries.. I keep forgetting I'm green and so is near everything else... I'm used to everything else being shades of brown..."

Some might have considered that an insult. To be referred to as a 'bush' may have horrified the vast majority of soquili but not Fenghuang. On the contrary, he seemed to puff up even taller than his usual seventeen hands and his eyes glittered with excitement. In short, Abolec had probably given him the best compliment he had received in months, it was the confirmation he needed to know that his disguise had been successful. He looked like a bush, or something that could easily slot into a forest's surroundings without causing much suspicion even though he was red. Alright, so you couldn't see much of the red right now but in a few more moments the world would be introduced to the vibrant shades of red that graced his form.
"You see a lot of red bushes then?" Fenghuang enquired with a quirked brow. His forelock gave a twitch but gave little effort to move further and he was forced to toss his head to remove it from his direct line of sight. Settling his eyes of the stallion, he could at last see that he was indeed green for the most part - the only semblance of colour he possessed was the red on whatever that thing on his nose was. 'Shades' wasn't something that appeared in Fenghuang's vocabulary on a regular basis.
Nevertheless, as Abolec gave an indication that he was a foreign soquili Feng did cant his head to the side inquisitively and smiled. "So you're not from around here either, now it makes a little more sense," he took a step back to give the soquili room to stand and rolled his shoulders in a loose shrug to encourage the blood flow into the stiffening limbs. "Name's Fenghuang but most folks call me Feng," he offered after a short pause. "You don't mind if we move do you? I'm supposed to wash all this off - shame really, took me months to master this look and now I have to ruin it again... Waste of six months of hard labour," he sighed mournfully.
"Least you knew I was a bush," he added as an after thought, "I knew it was a good disguise no matter what he said," he muttered.

Grinning even more as the other bush stallion puffed up, now on his feet Abloec showed to be a tall soquili, easily matching Feng's 17 hands. Shaking to settle everything where it should be. Glad that the stallion took things as a complement, thinking that most wouldn't, in his defence though the other stallion did look like an autumn bush, all be it a big bush.
Nodding. "I'm Abloec, great to meet you, and sure move where you like, I'll follow, or not if you dont want me to." Chuckleing a little as he notes the small movement realising that the other stallion was stiff or in pain. Letting Feng lead where he wanted to go. "Actually, where I'm from most boushes are brown or red, theres little green apart from where theres always water, but those places are dagerous to stay at to long."
A final shake of his head straightens his shades, and he was ready to go. "Nope I'm from somewhere else, last I remember was falling asleep back home, next I'm wet and waking up on the river bank and everything is green." Not knowing that he had been drugged and caught by some thieves that got unlucky on the river, having thought to make some cash with the unusual looking stallion.
Grinning to himself as the other stallion, giving him a nudge to the lake. "Yes your a very convincing but large bush, infact I might keep calling you Bush if it makes you happy. Now go wash as you aparently have been told to." Chuckleing, liking this stallion.

Luckily enough he wasn't in pain, he was merely stiff from the considerable amount of walking he had subjected himself to in recent days. Between the pacing as he attempted to mull over his options and the final decision to obey his brother's request and start the trip home he had gone quite the distance. This didn't distract him from his company though and with a bemused smile he continued his way forward towards the lakes. He was familiar with the Kawani Lowlands enough to know that the lakes were in this direction even if he didn't frequent them very often. Once he was there he would clean but for now he had to be hospitable and the distraction from his own 'dramatic' life was most certainly a welcome change.
"So you're a desert dweller then!" It wasn't a question, he'd chosen to state it and gave a nod. His lower lip puckered in appreciation at where the stallion had come from before returning to it's normal place. He'd done a lot of travelling himself, it came with the territory. While proving his worth to his princess (unbeknownst to her of course) he had gone far and wide in search of treasures that her handmaiden just happened to 'stumble' upon later. Raccoon had yet to inform Anelisse of the truth, that all these gifts were from him but both critter and stallion had agreed she was better off not knowing for the time being. "Can be a very nice place to explore if you go prepared, otherwise a bit dusty and uncomfortable," he mused.
Lulling into silence the stallion navigated his way through the meadows and soon enough he could catch the faint scent of fresh water nearby. Add this to the chatter upon the wind and he was fairly certain he was nearing his destination. "As for the nickname it's really not necessary - Feng will do even though I'm flattered that the disguise works the way it's meant to," he chuckled, paused and then furrowed his brow.
"Hang on, you don't recall how you got here?"

Nodding as they walk, having done a fair amount of wadering since he arrived here, knowing the lakes were this way too. "Most find the desert inhospitable, but if you know where food and water can be found, shelter or how to cope in the sand storms. Not to mention that its unbeleavably hot allot of the time... I loved it though, but it is still a little weird to have such solid ground after such a sandy one." Finding it much easier to run up a hill here than a dune back home.
Wandering along still, looking over at the bush stallion. "I have no idea how I got here, before waking up on the river bank near the sea, I last remember going to the oasis near where my family herd were.... My mother was going to have another foal, I had gone to find her a special treat she liked..." Sighing as he walked, recounting what he could remember. "We all knew that the oasis was an unsafe place, thats why I went as the eldest. I found the treat I was looking for, after that... Its all blank till I woke up here." Shrugging not having a clue what happend.
The oasis in the deserts usually being frequented by traverlers and preditors. Not really having noticed any there that day, knowing to be careful. Not having seen the men, having been drugged and taken as a rare horse to sell. Ending up here because their ship had sunk on the way to the market place.

"Depends on the desert really," Fenghuang listened to the stallion for a short while before providing his own insight. He'd seen the scorching, sandy deserts that most were familiar with; but he'd also been subject to the brutal ice wastes that were arguably much more hostile than any other desert he'd encountered. It had been a willing choice of course, to wander that far north in search of treasure but that didn't necessarily make it any more comfortable. Still it had been a very unforgettable experience even if many would question his sanity, particularly when it had led him to live a less than conventional life as a bodyguard...or as most would like to call it; a stalker.
"Never really had much of an issue finding shelter in sand storms and the like, food was easier to come by as well in the more sandy regions," he clucked his tongue and furrowed his brow. "Bit different up in the Icewastes, lot less comfortable and prone to much more injury. Certainly a spectacular sight though," he didn't go in to much detail. Then again the stallion shouldn't have had to go into detail, his thick and mangled fur should have been enough to explain it all. He was by far the fluffiest soquili in the lowlands at present and that was all down to not having completely shed the thick coat he'd developed during his trekk.
"That sucks about not knowing what happened," He switched subjects easily, flicking his gaze towards the ever changing horizon and the shimmering blue now drawing near. "Might come back to you in time though, take a few weeks to relax and figure things out then you never know," he added. He didn't envy the stallion in the slightest, the thought of being completely lost didn't appeal to him. "You may figure out where you came from and find a guide that can lead you back!"

Nodding as he walks along with the other stallion, listening to everything he had to say before answering, the nips his mother gave him for speaking too soon still very fresh in his memory. "The one I come from is burning hot and sandy..." Not having traveld much so his knowledge of other places was limited, though he was also interested in hearign more. "Have you been many places?" Having listend to what he had said about the mountains and other places, Ab trotting a long a little much like a foal might, clearly enjoying hearing about the adventures of this soquili. Though not much had been said at this point.
"I'm not sure that I like the mountains and cold places, after home this place seems cool to me." Shivering a little just thinking about it, going back to walking normally when he realised how oddly he was walking. Looking a little embarassed as he settled back into a normal walk, lowering his head as he thinks a little. "I would like to go home, at the same time this place is a paradice... I thik I would like to be able to see my family but also see other places. I don't know really..." Feeling guilty for wanting to strike out on his own and do things, being his parents only son at this point, he had an older sister but in his fathers eyes Abloec took precidence as th eone to take his place one day if he were to proove worthy.
Sighing softly as his thoughts and feelings conflicted, clearly not sure what he wanted or thought. Maybe he was too young to be on his own, or maybe this was to help him grow up, afterall everyone had a different path, a different trial to become who they were ment to be. Stopping and closing his eyes, remembering his mother telling him something like that. He loved her dearly for her kindness and her wisdom. If this was his trial he would not let her down, he would do his mother proud, and sometimes soon he would find a way home to show her the stallion he had become...

"Eh, not as far as one of my cousins," Fenghuang despite all his other faults was reasonably modest when it was required. He had travelled far beyond the borders, had seen much more than the majority of Soquili but he would be the first to admit he hadn't seen it all. He was simply too young and despite his curious nature and the adventurous streak that lay beneath his skin he did have a number of things (or rather one thing) that anchored him to the region. A part of him would have adored the opportunity to see new places but the other side of him refused to take his leave when he was required to protect his 'princess' here.
"I mean I've seen a lot, been to the deserts, ice wastes...Trekked across the mountains but that one wasn't terribly hard since I was born there. Seen the coasts, seen the meadows but never gone too far a field," he shrugged loosely and dwelled on this for a moment. A brief wave of envy swept over him at the freedom his cousin possessed before it vanished to be replaced by the soft lull of adoration that plagued his soul. Unrequited love was a b***h, he couldn't explain it and it was certainly out of character for one quite as exhuberant as he but what could he do? He couldn't just leave her alone when she clearly needed him!
"Would love to head south at some point, according to one of my herd mates the forests are like nothing you've ever seen before, same with the animals," he cocked a smile and looked ahead again. Falling silent, he listened to what his new companion had to say and nodded every now and then in agreement to his statements. Unfortunately, he couldn't agree that this place was a 'paradise' but that was something each soquili had to find out for themselves. "Well it's not like you need to be tied to your family by the hindlegs, you know?" he offered a wry smile and kept his gaze ahead.
"There's nothing to stop you visiting them then dawdling off to see something else, if they're anything like my parents they'll be happy so long as they receive a message ensuring you're safe every now and then," he pointed out. Suffice to say that while his advice was correct he hadn't lived by it himself which was part of the reason he was in such trouble now. However, to avoid appearing a hypocrite he failed to mention this and continued. "Everyone needs to chance to find themselves, don't get tied down because you're anxious...you know?"

(I apologuise in advance for how bad this post might be, as I have no idea what to say)
Walking beside the other stallion still Abloec listend carefully, nodding to some. His expression showed admeration for the wandering and sage words of this older male. "Might I ask what makes you roam and come back?" Wondering if it was famiy here or in other places.
Not sur what to say to most of what Feng had said about his family. "Well for starters I'd have to find how to get to them, not knowing where they are from here or what direction home is in... It seems really daunting to just wander in one direction and hope its the right one, having no idea where I'll end up. But your right, I don't need to be with them all the time. But I'd like to let them know I'm alive and well."
Not sure if his family even knew if he was alive and dead at this point. Looking at the lake that they were getting now standing near. Thinking a swim might be fun, not hot but he wasn't used to having so much water around all the time so it was still fun to frolic in for him.

Fenghuang wasn't that old himself, if he were to be compared to a human he would have been in his early twenties. Up until his mother had adopted another young son he had been the youngest babe in the herd and was the very image of her. No doubt he would have found it incredibly funny if he were called 'old' or 'sage', let alone both in the same sentence! It was certainly true that Feng had wandered quite far in his time but never to the extent that he would have cared to - he lived his life on a leash and the wild side of him didn't appreciate it. Unfortunately the wild side was drowned out completely by another array of emotions and had yet to make it's opinion known in the grand scheme of things... In time it might, but it didn't appear to be something that would happen any time soon.
"A princess," he replied simply and firmly. His eyes clouded over slightly at the possible dangers she might face while he was away and then he quickly dismissed them. He had seen the look in her eyes when she had discovered it was him, there was no need to dwell on it. Really it was very depressing when he looked from it at every angle but he had duties to do and parents to apologise to. Besides, he'd already figured out that she wouldn't be happy about his close proximity when he had come back the first time anyway so it wasn't a massive shock. "As wonderful as it would be to drift off as and when I see fit, it is imperative that she is and will remain safe in my absence which is much more difficult than it seems," he mused drily.
Shaking the rather strange expression from his face, he cast his gaze back to the male and cocked a smile. What Abolec said made sense or would have done to most people, but to Fenghuang it only made partial sense. He liked to consider the green stallion's reasoning to be the 'cautious' and 'sensible' aspects of life, for most soquili they were the correct route to take and caused very little damage... However they didn't really reap the rewards or achieve anything either!
"That's part of the fun, pick a direction and let your hooves wander. You may discover that you've been going in the right direction all along and if you aren't," he shrugged loosely, "Then you can just pick another direction later," he pointed out. He was definitely an adventurer and embraced every opportunity (or would if his heart let him), he almost considered it his duty to make sure that this male came out of his shell too. "And think of it this way -" he cleared his throat and turned his gaze back to what lay ahead of him, nostrils flaring at the scent of fresh water nearby.
"When you wander you meet other travellers. They may not be going in your direction but if they know your name, know your deeds... Then who is to say they will not pass these tales on?" He pursed his lips and then continued. "You may find that word of your deeds and survival reach your parents quicker than you could imagine."

Abloec tilted his head, running the word through his mind as though he was not sure what it ment princess saying it to himself a couple of times silently before looking at Feng and asking. "What is a princess?" Not understanding the expressions crossing the other stallions face, never having been in love. Loving his family but none of them were prone to grand gestures of affection. Understanding though wanting to protect someone. He didn't look like a warrior but he had lernt to stand up for himself. It had taken a long time for him to work out his fathers bullying had been to make him stand up and fight when it was calld for. "I understand the need to protect someone." Looking at the other stallion still, his eyes showing that there was many things he didn't understand, but there were others his did, and possibly some he would soon understand.
Compared to humans he was probably late teens, soon to be a fully grown adult. He had had a set future before everything had changed, now he had to decide what was the best thing to do. Looking at the beads he wore and sighing, having never had a wild side, but then his father barely tolerated his enjoyment of fun. Closing his eyes still able to hear his fathers admonisment in his ears. "Your my son, that means you have a responsibility to this herd, learn it now before you have to take your place as its leader." Sighing again having often wished he had been the youngest son not the eldest. But then as things stood he was the only son. He was no fool, he knew his place but some parts of him had no place in the future that had been decided by the fluke of his birth.
Sighing again snapping out of his reflections. "Part of me agrees with you, that ot just pick a direction and roam would be fun and interesting, but theres much more of me that feels compelld to stay here... Its going to sound strange but I feel like I'm needed here..." He was needed back home too.... His ears drooping, this line of thought making him depressed, which was hard to do as a rule. "But then.... How do you pick who needs you most?" His expression sad, clearly having conflicted feelings over what he should do. There being very few here that he had connected with, but some who had made an impression on him. But then he thinks of his family and feels guilty for wanting to stay. "It would be so much easyer if I popped into two.."
Nodding again, everything Feng had said made perfect sense, but there was no real desire for adventure in him. He was ok wih exploring the area he lived in, he loved to have fun, but he lacked that wild need to roam far and wide. Sighing again and stopping on the edge of the lake. "I don't know what to do..." His feelings of duty and selfish desire conflicted, not to mention his sense of fun. His ears still drooping, this one of the few things that made him blue, not just snapping out of it or shrugging it off as usual. Guilt heavy on him for not being with his family when they needed him. The weight added to by the fact that part of him wanted to stay where he was. Sighing stood next to the lake, letting Feng wash the discuise off, his head and hears lowerd as he thinks over these things.

Feng had plunged into the icy water as the stallion spoke to him. He listened patiently as Abolec lamented and permitted him the opportunity to express his deepest sorrows and fears. As the water seeped deep into his thick coat and licked at the flesh beneath, he savoured the sensation he hadn't realised he had missed until this moment. It would take a considerable amount of time to soak all the mud off his fur but that would also give him plenty of time to talk to the stallion beside him - or should that be 'colt'? He fixed his grey eyes on the male for a few moments and puckered his lips in thought, dwelling on the words that escaped from the lips of the soquili on the shoreline.
"You don't," he said finally, stretching one leg and then the other to relieve himself of the tension brought upon by cold water against muscle. His ears swivelled this way and that in response to the occasional disturbance nearby, but for the most part he gave most of his attention to the male at his side. "Sometimes it's better not to choose when you consider to things to be of equal value. Just go with the flow," he advised. Slipping deeper into the water, he released a soft sigh of appreciation and then clucked his tongue. Slowly but surely the once darkened red fur was returning to it's rather vibrant hue. "The spirits usually know what they want from you and they'll nudge you in the right direction as and when you're needed," his firm nod and relaxed smile indicated that he either knew this from experience or had known someone who knew of it.
He did come from a big family, it was possible.
Nevertheless at the mention of his princess he did pause for thought. He wasn't surprised that the colt wasn't aware of what a princess was, but how would he explain it? His eldest brother had informed him that he was being possessive, that his tendencies bordered on indecent but he couldn't help himself. He had to do it; no matter how inappropriate his behaviour might be he was compelled - she did that to him, she'd bewitched him and sometimes he wasn't even sure why or how!
"A princess is of royal blood, a line with great standing and importance amongst the creatures of the land. They have great power and influence, over a vast number of soquili. A princess is set to inherit this influence and great standing from her parents." He paused and then shook his head, a small snort escaping his nostrils. "However in some cases a 'princess' doesn't necessarily have influence over others, she just has influence over a select few who regard her to be of great importance. She holds both their love and respect..."
He tilted his head to one side as he considered.
"Did that make sense?"
