I know we have kind of touched on it lightly, but I'm making a thread about it... so.. Yeah!
What is the exact definition of the word '******'? History tells us it was the name that the white man gave blacks, but they used it with derogatory intention. Some people say it means ignorant. Others say it just simply means a person of color.
Also, take in account the word, '*****' is there a different between the two? Some say yes... that its another word of endearment or familiarity...

[This is the short version of what I think: Perhaps it's a variation of the word "negro," which means "black" in Spanish. And "*****" is a variation of ******. I hope to be able to elaborate more later...now...I must go. I've been staring at a monitor all day. Ow! gonk ]

****** actually means, A very dirty, nasty looking person. This is why sometimes white and spanish or asian people is called ******.It can also mean IGNORANT too.
***** is a word derived from the word "******",from black people and wiggers which they think means colored people.

The "N" word means: Dumb,ignorant,uneducated,and lowest figure on the earth.
Meaning you you ever call some one this you must be one your self.

Well, i see everyone has an diverse view on the word. To me *****, and ngger are one in the same, it just depends on how you use it. However I would like to quote a Gaian Emcee called Thunder Foot, or Grav in one of his songs. Quote: We call ourselves ***** to remind us of where we came from Basicly i think its used so that you don't forget your roots. granted its now seemingly a term of endearment. However when said there is a small part our our minds (even if we don't realise it) that makes a connection to the past oppression.

However when said there is a small part our our minds (even if we don't realise it) that makes a connection to the past oppression. i have to disagree. in my lifetime, i have discovered that Black people are descended from greatness; from kings and queens, and from legends, such as the Black Knight, King Solomon, Queen Hatshepsut, etc. while it's true that some of our people were brought over here as indentured servants, and later, slaves, that's not what i choose to consider Black history - it's merely a few pages in the greater history of the lives and times of the Black man. the 'n' word doesn't seem to fit in with where we came from at all.

Its supposed to be used now to remind them of the suffering thier anscestors went through. 3nodding The black knight's armor was black, nothing more. He was also a myth. No proof he ever existed. [...Thanks for the history correction (?), SJ, but I seriously doubt that most people use the word for something as deep as "so not to forget our roots." xd I do agree though that maybe in the back of one's mind, one might be forced to remember that "past oppression" upon hearing the n-word. But again, it's doubtful. I know a lot of people who use the word only as an insult--"****** is as ****** does." And these people believe that anyone of any color can be a "******" in that sense.
I don't believe the n-word is used to "make blacks remember where they came from/how their ancestors suffered" so much as it is meant to remind them that they are black. confused ]

wahmbulance [Save your tears for the day...]I don't think anybody should say the "n word" because we aren't niggers or w/e, we're african americans or black people.
Plus I hate the word ******.

******? I guess ****** is just a name for slaves. Someone who is ignorant, cannot comprehend you because of cultural bonds in this case.
***** is an even harder one. Everyone has a different definintion in my opinion a ***** is a black who is a degenerate, who plays into those statistics and stereotypes and think that its "being black" a ***** is also ignorant and believes that "the man is always bringing him down" to be put very briefly.
