(this thread isn't Kaihou-approved yet, but I'm sure he, the rest of the mods, and many of the regulars, will all agree with me.) Lately I've been noticing a lot of misplaced threads. I'd like to use this thread to remind you of a couple things. 1. Right above this thread, you'll see a list of subforums. Kaihou payed gold out of his own pixelated pocket for them, I suggest you use them for their intended purposes. -If your thread has anything to do with DDR, it goes in the main forum. If it has anything to do with Stepmania, FFR, or any Bemani simulator, it belongs here: http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewforum.php?f=10486 .
-If your thread is mindless spam, it belongs here: http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewforum.php?f=10487 .
-If it doesn't fit in either of these two categories, it belongs somewhere around here: http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/index.php . Now some of you may have somehow missed the subforums. That's fine, even though they've been there for over a month, so how you missed them is beyond me. Some of you may just not have thought about using them. That's fine too. Now you know. And knowing is half the battle! [cue GI Joe theme] This means that you shouldn't have to be told again. Everyone should be reading this thread. If you're not, you're probably too blind to be playing DDR, and therefore don't belong here anyway.

2. This is sorta having to do with the spam problem. Spamming doesn't just mean posting mindless nonsense.Spamming, or post-whoring, is just that: a completely unnecessary post that does nothing to contribute to the thread. To clarify a little bit... Post whore Thread creator I need help running Stepmania off a disc. Can anyone help me? sad I don't know. Thank you. We all know who NOT to ask for help next time. In conclusion: before you post, ask yourself if it'll contribute anything, even a little bit, to the thread. If it doesn't, chances are you might as well not post. I know that technically, postwhoring isn't against the guild rules (Kaihou hasn't mentioned it anyway), so you can't be banned for not being of any use to a thread. However, it is looked down upon, so this is more of a strong suggestion. There's a spam subforum, so if you're just posting for gold, might as well do it there, right? Keeps the guild nice and tidy, and makes us cranky mods happy. smile

3. Bumping = DO NOT DO. This is a pretty slow-moving forum. There is no need to bump your thread, unless it's off the first page, and even then, only if you REALLY feel a need to.
If you're just bumping for gold, there's a bump thread in the main forum and an entire subforum dedicated to spam. Use them.
That about covers both uses for bumping, so you don't really have any reason to do it. pirate
Also, please do not bump in the stickies. They're STICKY, meaning they're always at the top of the first page (like this one! surprised ). Bumping them makes you look like a huge idiot. Do you want to look like an idiot?
Bumping stickies is a bannable offense in the public forums. You really shouldn't do it here. pirate

4. Necroing. Please, DON'T DO IT. For those who don't know what this is, it's the act of posting in an old thread that has long ago. It's not a rule, but it's common courtesy to let the dead stay that way. Users who do this frequently, however, are not immune to the banhammer.
The general rule is, if the thread's last post was a month ago, or if it's off the first page of the guild, it's considered dead, and therefore, doesn't need to be posted in. If you find a thread that you simply MUST reply to, too bad. Make a new one, if it's so urgent. This place moves way too slow, clogging the front page with old crap really doesn't help.

I think we're being too soft on the n00bs around here. We shouldn't just let them off with a warning or exile out of the guild anymore.
I propose that any thread posted in the wrong forum is deleted immedately, and the topic creator is forced to listen to the song "I'm For Real" and/or any Sammi Morelli song for six days straight, no food or water.
