Sometimes I feel like
I'm just like a boat
Upon a winding river
Twisting towards an endless black sea
Further and further
Drifting away from where I want to be
Who I want to be

Name: Zachary Esther

Nickname: Zach, Zach-Attack, "The Truck"

Age: 26

Birthday: September 15th, 1992

Sign: Virgo

Gemstone: Jasper

Blood Type: B-

Fav. Food: Greasy cheeseburgers and other generic diner food.

Hated Food: Sushi. Too much effort for too little food.

School: n/a (DCU Alumnus, English Lit)

Hobbies:

Lacrosse - Zachary played lacrosse when he was in high school, but his interest in it dropped off after the death of his sister. Since then, his love for the sport has been reignited with his placement as a walk-on for a pick-up team on the weekends.

Mixed drinks - Paying for his schooling with a night-time gig at a swanky cocktail bar in downtown Destiny City, Zachary has made it a point to learn as much as possible about mixed drinks and the ways to make them. He knows how to mix a variety of standard cocktails, and can generally mix something tasty if given a starting liquor. His favorite? Just your run-of-the-mill house whiskey and coke.

"Bad" movies - While it's more of an ironic interest than anything sincere, Zachary takes immense joy in searching for movies with the lowest rating on Netflix and watching them for as long as humanly possible. While watching, he will take the time to 'generously' critique the bad acting, poor effects, or laughable writing. However, as it often goes with ironic habits, there are a number of films that Zachary has latched onto unironically, and given the chance will argue their merits to the ends of the earth.

Vigilante Justice - Zachary likes to think he's put the days of chasing cosmic terrorists with a lacrosse stick behind him. It was exhausting, it was childish, it was utterly too time-consuming for too little gain. However, given the chance, he will still stand up against powered characters in action, regardless of faction, until he begins to learn the ins and outs of the war itself.

Virtues:

Loyal - Zachary is, above all things, an honest friend to those closest around him. His first priority is family, and he will go above and beyond any call to make sure that he keeps himself true to the people he cares about. Need a ride? Zachary can arrange that. A leak in the roof? Zachary's bringing his tools over. For friends of the family, Zachary is willing to go to any lengths just shy of leaving a shift at work to be helpful, and if the person in need of help is family (or close enough to be considered as such), he's even been known to cancel less important obligations. It's not easy to gain his trust and respect, but once earned, Zachary is just about willing to walk on hot coals for someone. And should someone be disrespectful or rude to one of his friends or family while he's in earshot, they're in for a rude awakening themselves, as Zachary is fiercely defensive about the people he protects.

Hard-working - Another core tenet of his personality, if Zachary agrees to do a project or work on anything in particular, he goes at it with everything he's got. He's not known to half-a** or take shortcuts, and he prides himself on a job well done. Be it work, school, or lacrosse practice, he tries to keep himself as busy as possible to keep from slipping into a brooding state again, and if he feels it coming on, his working just intensifies. In general, he has little tolerance for slackers, but as long as someone is trying he is willing to put forth the extra effort to see them succeed.

Team player - Zachary is a exceptional team player, willing to collaborate and listen to orders as long as they seem sound. Most of this stems from his time on the field, but he also is driven by a general need to succeed, which often requires working in a group. While considering himself a competent individual, his ego doesn't get in the way of a given task at hand, and it doesn't bother him to receive instruction from anyone. However, he's not a blind little soldier. His willingness to work in a team only goes so far as his loyalties do, and if the leader begins making some sketchy calls, he's not afraid to take matters into his own hands. The situation would have to be pretty overtly terrible or pointed out to him, though: with his tunnel vision, it's sometimes hard for him to realize that what he's been asked to do is morally frowned upon.

Flaws:

Short-tempered - Zachary's always been clouded with dark, angry thoughts, and there's only so much that one person can do to try and distract them with work. He's got a surprisingly short fuse for someone so grandfatherly, and if someone disrupts his order, he's quick to snap. To see his demeanor turn sour is usually off-putting enough for people to back away from a situation, but given retaliation Zachary isn't above making things physical or even violent. What's worse, his tendency to see red in these instances makes him easily taunted or manipulated, and his bad moods are quick to snowball into actual confrontations. His biggest trigger is reference to his sister, who died during the Barren Pines scandal. Speak ill of her, and someone could find themselves in a hospital room, or possibly even a morgue.

Gullible - Despite being relatively quick-witted, Zachary oftentimes falls for even the simplest of pranks due to his one-track mind. Jokes tend to go over his head, innuendo is lost on him, and he tends to read sarcasm as genuine. Given the right manipulation, Zachary can be coerced into a lot of things that he might have otherwise not agreed to, which can range from harmless little favors up to full-scale projects where his time and money end up unwisely invested in some frivolous venture. Nothing irks him like the feeling he's been used, but it occurs to him so rarely that it's hardly an issue.

Surly - While not egotistical or necessarily arrogant, Zachary has the tendency to act like a stuck-up a** to people he doesn't care for. His range of emotions runs from cold and bitter to full-on schoolyard bully, and he's quick to resort to sarcasm and taunting. Just as he's willing to bend over backwards for people he cares for, he's unwilling to move an inch for someone who is even vaguely on his s**t-list, and he has no problems with telling them so to their face. Even in situations where said person is in a position of authority, Zachary's attitude is sardonic and pessimistic, and oftentimes it is just plain easier to work without him. It's easy for Zachary to give off a pompous and abrasive first impression, as he's not particularly inclined to put on airs for someone he's just hardly met.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Eyes: Zachary has heavy-lidded orange-red eyes that make him look tired and beyond his years. Most days they're overshadowed by his oval-rimmed glasses, but he wears contacts for his bartending gigs.

Hair: Dark red and curly, Zachary's let his hair grow out just past his ears, adding to his usually messy look. It's not quite long-enough to throw up in a pony-tail, but he typically wears a headband of some sort if he plans to be doing something athletic, and the sides are shorn in a fauxhawk style. Because of work, he keeps himself clean shaven, but if he doesn't keep up with it his facial hair comes in dark and thick.

Face: Long and serious, with a default deadpan expression that adds to his wry sense of humor. His nose is straight, though slightly downturned, and his cheekbones are high and angular.

Clothes: Through some family friends, Zachary's grabbed a position as a bartender at one of the swankier cocktail bars downtown, and despite his reservations he has to dress the part. Black pants, black shoes, and a button-down burgundy shirt are his main uniform, though he's allowed to accessorize his neckware. His current tie is black (he's too lazy to try and accessorize). Somewhere on his person (be it a necklace, a brooch, however it can be fit in) he always wears a small golden locket in the shape of a heart that belonged to his little sister. He has a tattoo of the same locket on his chest, just over his heart on the left.

Selected Poems

Though long disconnected from his college degree, sometimes Zachary will get the inspiration to write poetry. Tucked away in a box under his bed, it's something he would only choose to share with the right person...

Full Title: Brimir, Page of Jupiter

Challenge: This one's on the house!

Weapon:

Beer mug --> Hammer --> Giant Hammer

Page: Starting weapon is a beer mug, can be plastic or wood at the artist's discretion. He can whack someone with it or throw it, but it won't be doing any damage.

Squire: At Squire stage, it becomes a single-handed hammer that, when striking an enemy, applies a magical effect that makes the target feel that Brimir is the central point of conflict in the battle. While it's intended as a taunt effect, players may have their characters react in any way, as the magic does not actually compel them to attack Brimir, it simply directs their focus and makes him appear more of a threat than normal. This magic requires that Brimir hit the intended target before he begin his channel, and diverts their attention for up to 30 seconds.

Knight: For Knight, the hammer becomes two-handed and more ornate. When striking an enemy, it applies the taunt effect from Squire with additional urgency--the target now feels a compulsion to act on the taunt, be it an attack or some other contingency. This effect can be channeled for up to 40 seconds.

Brimir, Meadhall of the Victorious

"To the north there stood on Dark-of-moon Plains
a hall of gold of the lineage of Sindri
and another stood on Never-cooled Plain,
the beer-hall of the giant who is called Brimir."

- Gylfaginning, Larrington translation

Acquaintances

-getting reacquainted-

Old Acquaintances

Civilians

Evelyn "Evie" Esther - Beloved Sister - ...I'll miss you, Evie. I bet they've got you center-stage upstairs.

Elzo Xanis - Classmate - Some guy I met at the mall getting uniforms. Waaaay too energetic. Is he a twin? I can't be sure.

Marlo Xanis - Classmate - Potential twin to Elzo, and I think we might get along, if we ever had the chance to talk. Maybe I'll see him around Hillworth. He's a cool guy, got a good arm and everything. And, uh...no homo.

Rea Marshall - Vague Interest - A Crystal girl who shops at the Sports Shack. She seems really nice, but...I can't take the risk of getting to know her. Not after last time.

Alexander Rivera - Annoying - You think he'd know a thing or two about computer manners, as techno-geeky as he is. )<

Tatiana Konstantin - Friend - I never realized how much I missed talking with her...but the kiss? I dunno.

Senshi

Sailor Flora - Flabbergasted - What the ********? Blonde in skirts running around killing things...I...I don't even want to know, do I?

Sailor Sirius - A Pestilence - Who does she think she is? I had things under control!

Legacy Profile

(Originally approved 2009)

Name: Zachary Esther

Nicknames: Zach (to some: he prefers Zachary)

Age: 17 25 (as of 2017)

Birthday: September 15, 1992

Sign: Virgo

Blood Type: B

Fav. Food: Big, greasy cheeseburgers.

Hated Food: Tofu. It is an insult to the world of meat. >[

School: Hillworth Grammar School

Hobbies:

Lacrosse - Zachary used to play midfielder, but he's been moved to defense due to a general lack of motivation during practice. He's not the biggest guy on defense, but he's not afraid to hold his ground like some of the others are, either.

Writing - In his spare time, Zachary likes to write, either in a journal or in letters to his younger sister. It allows him to compose his thoughts and release his frustration in regards to his current situation at Hillworth.

Gemstone: Jasper

Virtues:

"Whatever you say, sir." - Obedient - Zachary has a healthy sense of authority, and knows when to listen to others. Even if he doesn't like the person giving orders, he'll respect the given hierarchy and follow orders, if for no other reason than to keep the peace. (This, however, is waived if Zachary feels the person to be entirely incompetent, though it rarely happens.)

"I'm going to go ahead and be the bigger person here." - Mature - Zachary manages to elude some of the fights and other such shenanigans at Hillworth, mostly because he thinks his peers are acting beyond childish. He tends to be mature beyond his years, and personally considers it to be one of his best qualities.

"Do you need anything, Miss?" - Chivalric - Zachary has a soft spot for the ladies, and has a tendency to be protective of the fairer sex. This tends to go well for people like his sister, but has horribly backfired for him in the past.

Flaws:

"Does it look like I care?" - Apathetic - Zachary's never the one to show much interest, even in the things he honestly enjoys. He thinks of it more as 'enjoying something in content'. All in all, he usually looks somewhat bored unless he makes a concentrated effort to wear his heart on his sleeves.

"Huh? What was that?" - Socially Inept - You thought you couldn't read people? His former crush told him off in public twice before he finally broke down and wrote her a letter to express his feelings for her--and then she got him expelled for "sexual harrassment".

"Sarcasm is just another service we offer here." - Sarcastic - Zachary's never been the best communicator, and on top of everything else, he often resorts to sarcasm. Considering his monotonal voice range, it's sometimes difficult to tell when he's being sincere.

"You wanna say that to my FACE, ********? D8<" - WEAKNESS - Despite his maturity, there are just certain things that absolutely piss Zachary off, like rude people or persistant annoyances. The worst thing you could do is call him out on his Meadowview expulsion. Should his buttons get pushed...well, you really don't want to know.

Physical Description:

- Hair: Medium brown in hue with a slight tinge of red in the right light, Zachary's hair is trimmed short, but other than that is somewhat messy, made up of soft curly ringlets that, were they longer, would probably resemble an afro.

- Eyes: Amber brown, and usually covered by his oval-shaped glasses. The heavy lids of his eyes sometimes makes him appear older or tired.

- Face: Long and serious, with hardly any arch to his eyebrows making him appear expressionless. His nose is straight, though slightly downturned, and his cheekbones are high and angular.

- Body: Athletic and lean, Zachary stands at a healthy 5'10", not the tallest of Hillworth boys, but certainly not the shortest, either. As he's grown into himself a little bit, he's settled at a height of 6'2", still long and lean but looking a little top-heavy these days as his shoulders have filled in.

- Fashion: When not in uniform, Zachary dresses as casual as can be done without being sloppy, usually meaning open collared shirts or polos with jeans with tennis shoes. His alternative outfit is a set of athletic shorts and a wifebeater, but he's normally only seen in this attire during practice, as he's quick to change into less-sweaty clothes. He's more fond of warm colors, and given a preference, his favorite color to wear on formal occasions is a dark burgundy.

Legacy Backstory

(Circa 2009)

Zachary's parents were still newlyweds, young and idealistic, when they heard the good news of their first son's coming. All the proper arrangements were made, because Mrs. Esther was ever-so-fond of having things done just so, and so they were done, because Mr. Esther was ever-so-fond of pleasing his wife. When Zachary entered the world, it was to a comfortable existance, with a room decorated by stuffed animals and all the trimmings that a baby could want. Little Zachary, however, did not seem to notice these things, and often just went to sleep, in typical baby fashion.

He did, notice, however, when one of the toys Mother brought home made too much noise, and moved about, and always had his attention. He was two years old, and he was also a newly made older brother. Although Zachary and little Evelyn often bickered as toddlers even into grade school, after being apart for a year when Zachary entered middle school they grew close, the boy acting the part of protector and confidant to his younger sister. He would tutor her until she found that she'd inherited the brains of the Esther family, and by the time they entered high school, she was the one tutoring him. He was never particularly bothered by it, though, and made up for it by joining the lacrosse team, where he played fairly successfully as a midfielder.

Trouble began his sophomore year after he began working at a place called The Sports Shack to raise money for his first car. It was there that he set eyes on the first girl that ever made his heart flutter. He never learned her name for ages, but she came in once every few weeks, bought tennis equipment in that Crystal light-blue, and would politely strike up conversation. He thought it was because she had possibly found some interest in him, and began to spend more time talking as he rang her up. Sometimes he would pay for her tape herself (not that a Crystal girl ever needed anything paid for), causing her to blush and quietly excuse herself. Zachary, who had never experienced anything like this in his structured life, thought that it had to be love. She, he found out later, thought it was somewhat creepy.

By his junior year, things were looking up: he had a shot at captain for the lacrosse team, his sister was joining him at Meadowview for his first year of high school, and he had decided that he was going to ask the Crystal girl to Homecoming in an old-fashioned, chivalrous sort of way. However, when he brought her flowers with a Homecoming ticket attached, she simply walked away. He thought that she was being shy again, so he asked her to the winter formal, this time without flowers to make her less intimidated. That time, she outright told him that she had no interest whatsoever in a Meadowview boy, especially one who worked at the mall. Most people would have been disheartened, and even Evelyn told him that he'd be better off looking to someone from Meadowview for his date for the junior prom, but he would have none of it. Finally, he did things the way he only knew how, and sent her a heartfelt letter with a plea to allow him the chance to take her to the Meadowview prom.

Zachary failed to realize that when she said no the first two times, she really meant no. He also failed to realize that her daddy was one of those big name lawyers you found on the back of phonebooks. So it came as a shock to him when, two weeks before finals, he found himself the defendant in a lawsuit of sexual harassment. Family and friends of the Esthers pledged on Zachary's behalf, that he was only trying to get a date. However, he was painted as someone with "malicious intent" and "stalking tendencies", and though Zachary didn't feel like a stalker, a jury of unsympathetic adults deemed him so, and he was promptly expelled from Meadowview for lewd and inappropriate behaviour.

The boy didn't know what was worse: being forced to a strange and unfamiliar environment for his senior year of high school, or the estranged looks he got from Meadowview (and gradually Crystal) students who believed the rumors just as much as the jury had. Over the summer, he became a cold and distant person, lacking whatever warmth he had during the school year. The whole ordeal left him drained and a shadow of his former self, and it was this shadow of a Zachary Esther that entered the halls of Hillworth one late summer day.

And so, our story begins...
