Adanna loved to go out on patrol. The heat in her muscles matching the heat of the sand made her body tingle pleasantly all over. She had always been a runner though, always on the move in some way or another. Just because she and her mate had come to live in the desert, the home of her ancestors, didn't mean she had to feel stuck. It was harsher out here, yes, but it kept her on her toes and that was just how she liked it. She loved a challenge!

She stopped as she peaked a small sandy outcropping. The rhythm of her breathing made her grin, air rushing through her nose and mouth. She felt so good now. Turning her head, she looked out across the desert. She might be making herself happy, but she still had a job to do. She wasn't afraid of a little scrap, if it came to that. Heh, she could take an intruder, of that she had no doubt!

To be perfectly honest, Al-Hattal wasn't very enamored with deserts, for all that he'd grown up in a desert territory. He'd since become very used to the savannah, and preferred it in all respects. Sand had a very annoying tendency to get anywhere and everywhere, and of course there was the matter of heat as well. With his all-over dark coat, lack of shelter from the sun could get...unpleasant.

Still, nothing ventured nothing agained, so here he was. A nice lioness would make this little adventure well worth it, if he could find one.

Ada, though she hadn't expected it, spotted someone. It was hard to miss him, really, with his black coat standing out so greatly against the bright desert sands. It only made her smile a little. Nukta stood out like that too, though at least he had a little white on him for some relief. Admittedly, she did tease him about it...in a loving way.

She quickly took a few sharp strides down the hill, heading towards the strange lion at a fast, but steady pace. She didn't know if she was in for a fight or anything just yet, so no need to come on too agressively...well, at least, she considered this not being agressive. Other lions...might not agree.

"Yo!" She called out, unabashed, "Do you know where you are, hu?"

Well, that was a change! He was getting too used to ghosting around the edges of the Pridelands, he supposed, where no one ever seemed fussed by his presence. But the lioness didn't really seem aggressive, so he saw no reason to worry yet. He simply stopped where he was to wait for her to come to him, and settled into a sit. It was a nice, nonthreatening sort of posture.

Ordinarily he wasn't for calling out, and preferred to wait to be within civilized speaking distance, but in some cases, waiting to answer wasn't necessarily a good idea. "Not really," he called back in answer, "But I apologize if I'm intruding."

"Well, you are!" Ada asserted with a sort of spunky feriousity. She stopped just a few feet from him, her stance confident and strong. He wasn't acting like a threat and she didn't feel he was one anyway. Common sense didn't always follow the lioness along with her enthusiasm.

"This is Dawnwalker land, you know!" she told him. She flashed him a wide, toothy grin, "Not everyone's welcome around here...if you mean to cause some trouble well...I'll have to toss your furry hide on out of here." If this had been a real crisis situation, somehow this conversation didn't seem like one that would have been very helpful or re-enforcing...

Al-Hattal didn't mind spunky; on the contrary, he liked spunky. Spunky was fun! And after that grin and her less-than-intimidating threat, he was beginning to like her. Of course, he was easy to win over when it came to females.

"Naah, I'm not much for that kind of trouble," he assured her with a charming grin.

"That kind of trouble?" Ada wasn't necessarily the most attentive, but sometimes she could pay attention, enough to catch a few things.

"I'll have you know, trouble doesn't get past me!" She proclaimed with considence. "So even if it's somethin' else...I got my eye on you!" Her tone was teasing, as was her smile. Her comments were all in good fun, really. She had a liking for strangers...after all, she had spent most of her life wandering among them in the roguelands. They were almost kin. Sort of.

"Well, everyone has a little troublemaker in them somewhere," he replied with a swish of his tail, "But I promise that mine is quite harmless." He'd broken a few hearts in his time, but that was about it.

"I'll have you know," he said with mock-seriousness in response to her teasing, "That I am best appreciated with both eyes."
