Thali was at the park, sitting at a bench. By her expression, she was waiting for someone. In fact, two someones. She had invited two of her friends to meet her youngest children--Samantha and Reiya were busy playing in the sandbox. The elf's ears twitche every time someone walked by, she was as impatient as ever. She wished they'd hurry up. She had nothing to do besides watching the girls this afternoon.
Having planned their meeting, she had opted not to bring a book. And really, watching children build a sandcastle from five feet away wasn't that interesting.

Kat strolled casually into the park. As always, she had walked. Though, it wasn't as if her apartment was far away. She had, however, been distracted by a neighbor whose dog had gotten lose. Naturally, she'd helped the middle-aged woman track down her spaniel before heading to the park, and now she was running just a few minutes behind. There was a small smirk on her face - she just couldn't wait to meet her friend's kids. When she heard a loud motorcycle behind her, her eyes widened slightly and she slowly turned around. No way...he couldn't be here.... Why would he be here?
When her eyes fell on the huge red Harley-Davidson, she couldn't help but gape. There was no denying it - the black and white hair gave it away before he even turned her way.
"Oh hey Kat!" her brother said after killing the engine. He swung a leg over the motorcycle and blinked at her jeans. "You're not....jogging in those, are you?" he asked, trying to figure out why she would be at the park.
"No. I'm here to meet Thali." She narrowed her eyes at him, puzzled by his sudden appearance. "Why are you here?" she demanded.
"I'm....meeting her...as well?" Gavin spoke hesitantly, knowing her reaction was not going to be a good one.
Several things went through Kat's mind. One - it seemed her brother was just appearing everywhere she went lately. Two - Thali was more than just a bit fond of Gavin, and she really couldn't figure out why. Three - why hadn't Thali told her she was inviting Gavin?! "But you hardly even know her!" she protested weakly, unable to think of any other excuse to get upset with him. For a moment she merely stared at him, then she let out a small sigh, threw her hands in the air, and walked off. "Oh whatever, just come on. I'm sure she thinks we were kidnapped or something."
Gavin grinned and followed behind his purple-haired sibling. It seemed off the hook - for now, at least.

Thali looked up from her bench, her ears twitching at the sound of footsteps. Finally, they were here! She gave a sunny smile, and made her way over to them. Naturally, she greeted Gavin first. "Good to see you, Derek." She teased. "I hope you've brought your homework, here's your next assignment." She gestured to the twins, before greeting Kat with a smile.
"Hey, Kat." She said brightly. "I'm glad you made it. I was beginning to think you'd gotten lost or something." She paused, and gave the two of her friends a grin.
"Looks like they've noticed you." She muttered. "The one with the pigtails and freckles is Sammi, the other is Reiya." She gestured to each toddler as she introduced them.
Sammi looked up at the two adults, before clumsily standing up, and toddling over to Gavin. She wrapped her arms around his legs. "Luv ooo." She said.
Thali sighed, raising her eyes to the heavens. "That's her way of saying hello." She explained, shaking her head.
Reiya, on the other hand, seemed a little shy. She waved politely to the adults, and smiled. "Hi." She said, before looking to her mother. Thali nodded, to let the toddler know it was alright. "Unca Gavi?" She said, looking at the man with black and white hair.

Gavin grinned widely when Thali called him 'Derek'. At the mention of homework, however, his face fell into a look of disbelief. "You're kidding!" he exclaimed. "I wasn't told we had homework!" His golden eyes followed the direction of her gesture and grew to the size of saucers at the sight of the twins.
Kat, on the other hand, was silently dying a very angst-ridden death over the fact that her friend had not only greeted her brother first, but seemed to have also forgotten his real name. That is - until she noticed the shy twin. "Awww...she's so -"
Wait..did she just say 'Uncle Gavin?!?!'
"Cute?" Gavin supplied, all smiles as he bent and wrapped Sammi into a huge bear hug, completely oblivious to the hurt look on Kat's face.
Kat, completely lost for words, merely pressed the back of her hand against her forehead and sighed heavily. "Oh, why do I even bother getting upset anymore.....?" she murmured to herself.
Gavin was still oblivious, now lifting Sammi off the ground and spinning her in a circle.

"Think you're up for the challenge, Derek? Or have you forgotten your contacts?" Thali was enjoying herself most thoroughly. She looked to Kat. "You know... You're their aunt. Ben and I agreed."
Reiya looked to Kat, and toddled over to her. She gave her a shy smile and lifted her arms. "No be sad, Auntie." She said, patting one of Kat's knees. "No be sad. I luv ooo."
Sammi was giggling in delight. "'Gain, Unca Gavi?" She asked. "Spinny gain? Pwease?"

Kat blinked, both surprised and overjoyed at the statement. "Really?" she asked, smiling so widely she thought her cheeks might break. When Reiya toddled over and touched her knee, she giggled in delight. Bending slightly, she took both of the small girl's hands in her own. "Ok, I won't be sad," she promised.
Gavin grinned at Sammi as he set her down on the ground. "Weeelll....I think that's enough spinning for now." He grinned mischievously as he swept her up into his arms again then set her on his shoulders. "Hold on, Sammi!" he exclaimed as he took off across the park, spinning and weaving in and out between the few trees, all the while attempting to make convincing airplane noises.

Thali smiled at her friend. "Really." She said, "From now on, you're Auntie Kat." She leaned in to whisper. "I couldn't leave Gavin out, that might have hurt his feelings."
Reiya smiled, and reached her arms up. "Up, Auntie Kitty?" She asked, ignoring her mother's groan.
"Oh no.. They think I've been calling you Cat." Thali muttered, shaking her head. "I suppose you'll be Auntie Kitty for a while."
Sammi giggled, spreading her arms out like wings. "Fly, Unca Gavi, fly~" She said happily. "Fasser, Gavi? Pwease?" She liked this game, Airplane and Horsie were her favorites.

Kat rolled her eyes lightly at Thali's mention of Gavin. "Yes, he would've made a scene... Besides, it's fitting - since we're siblings." Her mind wandered momentarily to her other sibling, Maria, whom very few of her friends had met. When Reiya called her 'Auntie Kitty', she couldn't help but laugh softly as she scooped the girl up into her arms. "Auntie Kitty.... I like the sound of it."

At Sammi's request, Gavin smirked to himself. He grimaced suddenly and slowed his pace. "Ugh...Sammi...I - I dunno that I can keep up this pace...." He gasped dramatically and grabbed his chest, then fell slowly to his knees. After pausing for just a moment to catch his balance and be sure Sammi wouldn't fall off his shoulders, he suddenly plummeted face-first into a pile of leaves. He made sure to fall just right so that if Sammi fell, she would land directly on top of him. His eyes fell shut and his mouth dropped open in an exaggerated 'dead' pose.

Thali just shook her head at her friend, before looking to Sammi and Gavin. "Uh-oh.. I'll bet five gold that--" She didn't get to finish her sentence, because at that very moment, Sammi began to cry.
The poor toddler, she thought Gavin was actually dead. She sniffled, rubbing at her eyes. Had she killed him? She'd asked him to go faster, and now he was dead... It was her fault then, wasn't it?
"....She'll think he's actually dead." Thali finished, with a sigh.
Reiya on the other hand, was ignoring her sister's cries. She hugged Kat as well as she could. "Auntie Kitty~"

Gavin quite nearly stiffened in shock when he heard the young toddler's cries. Oh dear. Over the top? Yes, very. Instead, however, he merely rolled onto his back, groaning. "Uhhhhh....."
Kat shook her head at her brother. "He's such a dork..." she mumbled, though a smirk tugged at the corner of her lips as she hugged Reiya tightly. "Your uncle's a weirdo," she whispered in the girl's ear.

Sammi sniffled again, rubbing at her eyes. "Unca Gavi dead..." She managed, before dissolving into tears again. She didn't seem to notice him groan, she was too busy crying.
Reiya blinked at Kat for a moment. "Wat a weiwdo?" She asked, with a slight tilt of her head.

Gavin quite nearly said 'aww' at the look on the crying girl's face. "I'm not dead!" he exclaimed. He sprang up off the ground, grabbed Sammi up into his arms, and spun her in a circle. "I just - .. err .. tripped."
Kat blinked, not sure how to explain the word. "Uh....well...a weirdo..is someone...who acts...weird, I guess." She wondered if Reiya even knew what the word 'weird' meant.

Sammi sniffled, and gave Gavin as good a hug as she could. Then she pulled back from him, and frowned. "Bad Unca Gavi!" She scolded him, shaking a chubby finger in front of his face. "Bad bad bad. No scawe me. I buwn ooo if ooo do."
Reiya blinked, showing no signs that she knew what 'weird' meant. "I hungwi." She said, instead of asking further questions. "I hungwi, Auntie Kitty."

Gavin blinked, momentarily shocked by the toddler's threat, then he smirked lightly. "I'm sorry, Sam," he said quite sincerely.
At Reiya's statement of being hungry, Kat turned her gaze to Thali. "Where to, mom?" she asked, smirking at the thought of her friend being a mother.
