Life was alright. She had the best family in the world, and good friends...But something was missing. That 'love' thing. After Ty had talked her out of something stupid, she had made a decision. She didn't just want a fling, a wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am thing just wans't her. She wanted a life mate. A friend and love who wanted only her for the rest of their days. That fairy-tail ending so to speak. Now, her sisters and mother had all told her that fairy-tails were hard to find. But she was stubborn, and wasn't going to give up until she found it. Now all she had to do was find her prince. That was the hang up with her plan. She flicked her tail, sighing softly. Prince charming wasn't going to come to her willingly, she'd have to fight for him.

Mel wandered along through the fields, the sun beating down on his back and warming his body. He'd have to find shade soon and water. But he stopped and looked up at the clear blue sky, remembering the old days. A year ago he was wandering the sunshine with his daughter, darting off at every thing that moved whether it be bug or bird. He'd met up with an old friend too and they'd played in the sun until they almost collapsed of heat stroke. He smiled at the memory. And now Kahili was probably off on her own adventures with that stallion of hers trailing along.
The dark stallion sighed as he continued on his way, finally spotting a river. He dipped his head full on into the water and tossed his head back, sending cool splatters of water all over his back. Then he just lay full in the water on his side, letting the cool water flow around him, cooling his body considerably.

Chaci sighed, stepping into a stream to cool of not far from Mel. She hated being so alone, even if she had her family and friends. Ty had his daughter now, and her sisters we're all off finding mates and falling in love. Where was she? Standing in some empty stream- Oh.
Empty it was no longer.
She blinked, stunned into internal silence. Why hadn't she expected to see others? It was free lands after all.
Perhaps it was her interal conversation that scared her so badly. But whatever the case, who was she to not stroll over to say hello? She had manners after all. Making as little spash as she could, she stop a few yards away from the male, and smiled.
"Hello there."

Mel opened one eye and turned his head slightly to see the mare who had been speaking to him. With the bright sun shining on her and half blinding him she so closely resembled his daughter. Same hair and everything. He sat up to get a closer look but of course it wasn't his Kahili. She would have just jumped on him or something. "Afternoon. Nice day, isn't it?" He flipped himself over to lay on his other side and cool it off while his wet side dried in the sun.
It probably wasn't very polite of him just to lay here while she was standing and watching him but it was too hot for him to care right now. He opened his eye again and looked at her. "You're welcome to join me if you want. It's refreshing."

"Oh yes, it is." She tilted her head, lowering herself into a sitting position in the cool waters. His markings looked familiar, as did his coloring. She wondered silently if he had a sister, because he looked alot like Ty's friend Tuli. She could just be crazy too. She was used to the crazy thing.
She decided that they must be related SOMEhow, they just looked to similar.
"I hate to seem so nosey, but do you have a sister? Tuli?"
She smiled, tail swishing in the water. It was an extremly hot day, so his idea of the water was marvlous!
"Oh! Where are my manners? I'm Cancion de Cielo. Chaci for short."

Mel smiled and nodded. "Yes Tuli is my sister, my favorite. We stuck together when we were kids. My brother was sort of an outcast. And I haven't really gotten to know my younger siblings. So it's just me and Tuli in our own little world." He remembered how he and his sister were always the eager ones, the ones excited and ready to run off and do things. While Karma just stayed behind and watched everything like a bystander.
"Seems I'm not the only one with a name that fills up the mouth. Melanthios but I go by Mel. It's easier. Nice to meet you, Chaci." He sat up and looked at her curiously. "How do you know Tuli? I don't recall her having many friends. At least not many that she talks about." He flipped his braided tail in the water as he settled himself in a comfortable position to face her.

Chaci grinned. She knew it!
"Mel? Its a pleasure." She nodded, commiting his name to memory.
"Oh wow! Thats uncanny. My best friend and herd mate Tyzaeph brought her by one day. To meet our human. She told Ty stories about your father and humans, so he wanted to show her how ours was different. She visits us from time to time, but I haven't seen her in a while. How is she doing?"

"I wouldn't know. I don't see my family much anymore." All of them were off doing their own thing, getting hitched, multiplying like bunnies. His parents doting on new grandchildren that keep popping out of nowhere. And he was left out. Alone. Just to sit in the background and watch as everyone went along with their happy lives. Though his mother would smack him upside the head repeatedly for thoughts like that and say things like she loved all her children no matter what. Never stopped him from feeling like a disappointment.
His eyes had wandered off to stare out over the grasses until he finally snapped back to reality and the mare that was in front of him now. "Sorry. Heat must be getting to me. Why don't we go find some shade to cool off in. The water will cool us longer if we're out of the sun." He stood up from his place in the water and didn't even bother to shake it off but wandered over to the nearest tree to plop in the cool shade it offered.

Chaci smiled, nodding. "I know the feeling. Everyone is off doing their own thing, getting mates and having kids...Leaving you out on your own." She coughed, shaking her head as she followed. "I'm sorry, that was presumptuous of me. "
Who was she to expect a male like him would be all alone? He probably had a lovely mate back home, and some adorable little foals running around.
Wouldn't be the first time she'd been wrong about a male.

Mel smiled up at her from his place on the ground. "That's life. You can't stop it." He shrugged a bit. "Just...watch as it flies by or hop on board for the ride. I'm to assume that you're feeling left out, hm? I'm sorry for that but I know how you feel." He wasn't bitter about it, at least he didn't show it. "Come, sit. We'll talk. What's on your mind that's making you feel left out and on your own?"

Chaci sighed. She sure was showing her age...
"Well, I don't live with my family. I live with my human, and her herd. I get to see my family at some points, but everytime I do I always hear about something new and exciting in their lives. My oldest sister had 3 males chasing her. My older sister is off on an adventure, meeting new people. My brother is off, and Mum and Papa have their own little world. I really have nothing to share with my family when I see them. I kinda feel like I'm letting them down."
She flopped on her rump, hanging her head.

"Have your parents or your family ever said anything that went along the lines of you letting them down?" Mel knew how she felt, in a nutshell, but for different reasons. He was probably going to regret this because it could just be turned around on him. She'd probably end up saying 'you should take your own advice'. "My parents are big on family. Family is their life. I was the first to give them a grandchild but it was kind of hard for my mom to understand that what I had with my daughter's mother wasn't permanent. Then they had more kids of their own, more grandkids were showing up and I sort of got pushed to the side. My mom would ground me if she caught me saying that though." He smiled a bit, knowing his mother perfectly. "Of course my daughter's gone off to bigger and better things and that leaves me here....That was a long rant. Anyway, the point is my mom would always tell me to shut my mouth, in a polite way of course. She'd always love me no matter what I did and that she could never be disappointed in me. So that's what I'm telling you. I'm sure your family loves you no matter what. You..and me, we both just think too much about it." He tilted his head with a smile, hoping she'd cheer up a little bit.

Chaci listened to the male talk, nodding where approiate. Maybe she did over think things to much. Ty often told her to lighten up.
"Thanks Mel. I do over think things..." She chuckled, watching the male for a long moment.
She grinned, giving the male a wink as she sat next to him. "I'd say you should follow your own advice, but for some reason, I think you already konw you should."

Mel smiled and laughed. "Old habits die hard. I give advice, doesn't mean I listen to it much." She obviously got the key points of what he was telling her but maybe she didn't catch something he'd wondered about. Some people were really against having kids before having a mate. Others didn't care but it was still one of the things he thought about everytime he met someone new. But if he had to choose between ever finding love and his daughter, he would pick his daughter hands down everytime. She came first no matter what.

Chaci grinned, nodding. She often delt out the advice, but never took it. "So you have a daughter? That reminds me of Ty." She giggled. "Its almost exactly the same as Ty."
Chaci didn't care one bit about having childern with out a mate. In fact, she was palnning on doing that before her better judgement kicked it. She knew she couldn't handle childern on her own, especally at that age. Now that she was older, she knew she wanted kids, but with a mate who loved her.
"That kinda stuff never had bugged me. Not my business." She grinned.
