Have you found useful stuff that others would throw away as trash? I have. I will admit to seeing a table or night stand set out for roadside pickup and tossing it in the back of my truck. I got a 600 glass table top out of a dumpster when a furniture store was closing. it had a small chip in one corner. I got some 1000 grit sand paper and glass buffing paste and smoothed the chip. I built a stand and now i have a $600 picnic table. i'm a pack rat and proud of it.

I only do that sort of stuff when I see something useful or something that might make a good addition to my house. I got a "Handicap" sign and a "Maximum Penalty: $250.00" sign out the trash one.
Edit: They were still wrapped in plastic and unopened!

No Dumpster Diving for me.
I am girly & would not think of getting in a dumpster. Yuck!!
I will buy stuff at yard sales & resell stores cheap & fix them up.
I especially like to find really cute stuff that has minor damage. I like crafts & I can do some repair work. One time someone very dear to me found a Teddy bear music box & part of his face was broken. So I made him into a phantom of opera style bear by rebuilding his face with clay. It is the kind of clay that they sell in craft stores that you bake in the oven for hours to harden it. When it cooled I painted him. Now I have something very unique that no one else will ever have. 3nodding heart

Kapatheona Mataharie No Dumpster Diving for me. I am girly & would not think of getting in a dumpster. Yuck!! I will buy stuff at yard sales & resell stores cheap & fix them up. I especially like to find really cute stuff that has minor damage. I like crafts & I can do some repair work. heart I agree with Kap. I buy stuff & fix it up. I like to paint so I have some unusual furniture. I have painted several tables & painted & created some odd decorations for my walls.

I will get dirty and we are talking about only if we see some thing useful King Xenox. We're not talking getting on and ripping open bags of unknown contents. Ratt and I have coveralls in his truck for just that purpose.

We look for stores that are closing and watch their construction dumpsters. Captain Miscreant was our teacher. You can make 2 or 3 hundred of that junk at the flee market. Most of the time stores box up the same type of stuff when they are closing and once it is in the dumpster it is fair game under NC law.

Most of the time stores box up the same type of stuff when they are closing and once it is in the dumpster it is fair game under NC law. Wait, you live in NC? Where?

Most of us live around Shelby. I Drove a sweeper truck so had an eye for where to get the best stuff. Those two still do it but I had to quit diving dumpsters when I mess up my back.
