-- Not posting for more than 7 consecutive days prior to making the intro post results in immediate loss of the match. - Exceptions do apply in the same manner as stated in the above point.

The area is a large leveled plain. There are some patches of dirt and rocks, but most of it is a grassy field. It's a sunny day, with mild temperature and wind. This is a remote and isolated field, so no other "living" being can be seen for miles.

~ You may begin!!! ~

[Introductory Post.]

The mild winds of the plain gently made Alder's hair rise, forming a sort of wave, something that Alder highly disliked with his hair. His left hand rose, and immediately patted down the floating area of hair. Upon entering the plain, he noticed, rather disdainfully in fact, that his opponent had not arrived yet. A disgusted grimace played on his face, and he unsheathed his Zanpakuto in anxiety. "...I'd rather my opponents were on time....this is not usual for Shinigami to be tardy...." He groaned.

(( Waah... Sorry, I was confused over the fact that I'm in two battles at once... ))

[Introductory Post]

Hinata skidded into the field, hurriedly brushing the dirt off her uniform. Her eyes narrowed as she scrutinized her opponent, who was obviously annoyed by her late appearance.

"Sorry to keep you waiting," the shinigami said, blowing her fringe out of her eyes. She placed her hand upon the hilt of her zanpaktou.

"Shall we begin?"

Alder sighed in relief when he noticed his opponent's arrival. "...It's not bad to be fashionably late..." He said with a light chuckle. This politeness would be quickly cast aside, however, as Alder had already began a ferocious lunge at Hinata. "For the sake of the Thirteenth Squad, and its pride, I will not hold back." Alder voiced softly. He brought down his rapier in a diagonal right slash, then followed up with a forty five degree arc slash from below. He was already putting the pieces into place. For the final part of this combo, Alderquickly raised his rapier to his eye level, and brought it down at a nasty angle, which would require the opponent to move their wrists in a nearly bone breaking fashion to block the attack, due to the position their Zanpakuto took to block the other two attacks.

'Whoa, that was quick!' Hinata thought, as she caught a glint of Alder's blade whipping through the air. She raised her free hand to the flat side of her zanpaktou to parry his ferocious attack, before following through with a slash to block the second.

Knowing that she wouldn't have enough time to get into position for the third lunge, she swiftly ducked and back-flipped, intending to use her opposition's momentum against him. She aimed a kick at his chest in mid-flip, while skilfully shifting her weight onto her left hand so she could sweep at his legs with her zanpaktou.

Alder flashed a grin; that was HIS move. He stabbed his Zanpakuto into the ground, but didn't have enough time to block the kick, and was sent back a short distance from the power of the kick, taking his rapier with him. He regained his footing by using the dirt to his advantage. He stabbed his rapier into it, luckily, it was soft enough to take in the rapier, yet keep the force pushing him at bay. He used his rapier as a medium to distribute his force, and executed a complicated flip, landing softly on his feet. He picked up his rapier, and dusted off the front of his robes. "Nice kick, but you'll need a bit more force than that." He said, a wide grin spanning his face as he did so. "Your move." He voiced politely.

'It seems we are rather well-matched in terms of agility...' Hinata thought, pausing to regain her posture. She flicked her zanpaktou to correct her grip, which had been unsettled by the sudden landing.

"Your move," the female shinigami heard Alder indicate. Hinata didn't give him time to think before darting to his left side. Her zanpaktou whistled through the air as she slashed fiercely at his unguarded waist. She then used both hands to pin his blade down with hers, before delivering a spinning kick at the base of his neck which would be hard to avoid in his current position.

Alder calculated the force of the kick immediately as he blocked the slash to his waist. He clashed his blade with hers a bit earlier than she anticipated, possibly taking her off guard. He, however, used a counterbalancing force to free his blade, allowing him to lean backwards to dodge her swift kick. The air whipped by his face as her foot flew over, emphasizing the fact that he definitely didn't want to be caught in that. After the kick had passed over, he performed a back flip, and landed on his feet a few feet away. He lunged at her again, this time, with a complicated series of complicated stabs and slices. The first combo was similar to his first, involving the right-downwards diagonal slash, and the arc slash; the final was a completely different move, however. After Alder had executed the first two moves, he rose his left foot into the air, and brought it down on his rapier, causing it to come down towards Hinata with crushing force.

Hinata had barely set both feet back on firm ground, when Alder leapt back at her, stabbing at her with ferocious killing intent. She had anticipated his first moves perfectly, blocking each with ease, but the third caught her off guard, and she didn't have time to lodge her arms in a secure enough position to take the blow.

A crack like a whip echoed across the plain as Hinata felt her left shoulder dislocate. She gritted her teeth, but was too used to the pain for it to be a major deterrence. Instead, she used her defensive position as an advantage, sliding her zanpaktou from underneath Alder's and attempting to take a slice at the opponent's leg as she freed it. She flipped one-handed back onto her feet, landing a few metres from where Alder stood.

"Yeowch... That was violent," she mused, inspecting her disfigured shoulder. After a while, though, she seemed to regard her injury as trivial, and tilting her head to one side, popped the joint back into its socket.

"Your move," she said, returning her adversary's earlier courtesy with a devilish, almost mocking grin.

Hinata's blade met its mark; the unsuspecting Alder received a cut on his leg, and he instinctively performed an extremely complicated series of flips in the air, nearly doubling the distance Hinata traveled. "It seems we're about equal." He said happily. "I'm glad I got to fight you." He said politely. His eyes matched his grin, a very true, unseen happiness reflected in them. "But......" He said, as his voice turned surprisingly grim. "You've forced me to do something I really don't care to do...." He voiced disgustedly as he pointed his index and middle finger towards the ground near Hinata. "Hadou Number Four.....Byakurai." He muttered as a bolt of white lightning burst from his finger, exploding at the ground in front of Hinata, This didn't bug Alder, as he hadn't used any reiatsu in the battle. He used the cover of the explosion to lunge at Hinata, and, under the cover of dust and flying debris, which only the sand below made possible. He leaped into the air, and swung his rapier downwards at Hinata, firing another Byakurai behind her to cast the illusion that he was behind her.

As the cloud of dust created by Alder's kidou swirled around her, Hinata's initial instinct was to escape as quickly as possible. She crouched and propelled herself from the ground, thanking her lucky stars that she had been born agile. Purely by luck, Alder's second Byakurai soared past her, narrowly singing her dust-covered cheek.

She became aware that, having lost sight of the enemy, she was in a precarious position. As the young shinigami's figure arced through the air, she caught sight of an ominous shadow looming above her. Concentrating all her reiryoku into her hands, she yelled "Bakudo No. 4, Hainawa!"

A huge beam of golden light streaked from Hinata's outstretched fingers and exploded with a deafening bang. So great was the blast that it sent her flying back to earth, and she was forced to twist awkwardly to find purchase in the solid ground. She grazed her hands on the soil as she flipped, skidding back several metres and digging her heels into the grass.

The dirt-clod girl dusted her hand guards off as she retrieved her zanpaktou from where it stood, point down and still quivering from where it had been ripped from her hand by the kidou. From her experience, the drain on her reiryoku hadn’t been colossal, but it was still enough to make her muscles ache from the strain, and her arms and hands were badly singed.

“That was reckless, idiot!” Hinata was rather startled by her zanpaktou’s sudden input. Harikaze had been surprisingly quiet throughout the battle, observing without complaint. Although she was annoyed by the interruption, Hinata knew she was right. She had never excelled at kidou, so why she had been compelled to perform a spell under pressure was a mystery to anyone.

The dishevelled shinigami gazed up at the fireball she had accidently created, which was currently dissipating in a haze of grey smoke.

“Ah... Oops. Maybe I killed him,” she remarked, waiting for Alder’s re-appearance.

Alder was still in midair when he heard Hinata blast her Kidou. His face twisted into an ugly grimace when he saw the fireball heading straight at him. "Hadou number four...Byakurai." He chanted, and a bolt of white lightning burst once again from his fingertips, colliding head on with the fireball. The impact slowed the fireball down, but Alder still had difficulty dodging it in midair, resulting in his left arm becoming severely burned, to the point of no use in this fight. Alder landed with a thud to the ground. He had fallen from at least thirty feet onto his back. His body was beginning to give out from the heavy kidou use, and he was on his last legs. At best, he would only be able to put out two more Byakurai. Already forming a plan in his head, he charged head on at Hinata, but as he got within striking range, he flipped into the air, and landed behind Hinata. "Byakurai!" He yelled as he fired a lightning bolt at the ground, sending him backwards a ways. This momentum was just what he needed, as he stabbed his rapier into the ground. The recoil forces launched him back. He was heading straight for Hinata at the same speed he flew backwards from her at. He held up two fingers, and began his final chant. "...Hadou Number Four.....BYAKURAI!" He screamed it aloud as he neared Hinata. This was his final shot, his all-or nothing. Whether he won or not depended on this move, hence why he put so much effort into it.

Hinata glimpsed Alder's figure, charging at her from behind the screen of dust and smoke. She braced herself for another attack, but it never came. Instead, she witnessed her adversary soaring through the air, then firing another kidou spell back at her with such speed that, had she not years of experience as a rouge, she would never have been able to stop it.

As it transpired, she did manage to defend herself from the attack- but only partly. The worn shinigami gathered what was left of her depleted reiryoku store, focusing it on the blade of her katana. Time seemed to taunt her, and slow to a point where she could feel every millisecond of the spell, tearing a deep gash down the length of her (already burnt) right arm as she raised her zanpaktou to block it. The other half of the kidou glanced off the flat of her blade as she slashed it forwards, heading straight back for its caster.

Hinata knew that the battle was over, and was not particularly bothered if the kidou she had just blocked met its mark or not. The fact that she was still standing was an achievement in its own right, as it had been a while since she had been forced to go all-out without her Shikai.

"Just goes to show that I was right when I said you had to rely on yourself a lot more," said Harikaze tonelessly.

Alder

Technique: 5/5
-Very good, you took advantage of the environment in several places and kept your opponent disoriented more often then not.

Flexibility: 4/5
-Still quite good, but there were places I would have picked a different response. This isn't to say that you aren't good at it though.

Grammar: 4/5
-Phenomenal, you have quite a grasp of the language. There are several instances where you provide just a tad too much detail, and that may end up boring the reader, but other than that you are obviously a veteran role-player.

Spelling: 5/5
-No errors that I could see, good job.

~Overall Score: 4.5/5

Hinata

Technique: 4/5
-Though you weren't the offensive one this battle, you still managed to stay up and defended yourself properly. I docked points for not being able to gain a visible edge, but that is all.

Flexibility: 5/5
-You responded incredibly well to your opponents attacks, even to the last post. Nothing more to be said really, good job.

Grammar: 5/5
-Amazing skills with English. It was like reading from a novel, I loved it.

Spelling: 5/5
-As usual, no errors that I could see.

~Overall Score: 4.75/5
