It's a relatively simple concept to get; what fairly unknown metal bands do you think people should know about?
I think people should know about the death metal bands, Obscura (named after the Gorguts album by the same name) and Dying Fetus (good goregrind band)
.. yeah.

Gojira, Kreator, Alestorm, and Agalloch. I'm pretty much the only person who really knows who they are in my area. But Alestorm is getting really big recently, so more people are bound to know who they are.

Bullet For My Valentine is metalcore. Which, despite the name, isn't metal. Nor did she list any screamo bands (nor do I think you understand what screamo really is.) Nor does MCR have ******** all to do with Alternative rock. I would like to second Agalloch, I love their ambient works. I will check out the others Spoonerizms listed, and see if I like them. I would also like to add: Amesours, Church of Misery, Circle of Ouroborus, Electric Wizard, Saint Vitus, Lifelover, Creaming Jesus, and (latter) Fields of the Nephelim.

But it's cool, most people haven't been introduced to what real emotive hardcore is. it's actually a movement that started in Washington D.C in the mid-1980s, it was a specific breed of hardcore punk, and most bands objected to being referred to as emotive hardcore. eventually some bands started yelling a bit more and played the music eithe a bit more melodically, or harder and then the term screamo was born. Then towards the 90s a few bands took a lighter "indie" sound(usually referred to as 'midwest emo'), and from this came what most people consider emo these days. and Midwest emo isn't really emo itself. The original scene still goes on, but bands are really rare and overshadowed by metalcore stuff. emo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ge8ucvLYLRchttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAf6P4obmLI&feature=relatedscreamo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDdCA1oTU5o&feature=relatedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5X7m_stabE&feature=related'Midwest' emo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_QOG102F2ohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83BRULUXqlI

I checked out the bands Spoonerisms mentioned. Gojira was pretty cool, I'm not really big into heavy/fast stuff, but I still liked it. Kreator, previous comment + I didn't like the vocalist. I don't think I would go out of my way to listen to them. and then I remembered that I heard Alestorm a few months ago and did not like it.
I also discovered a new favourite metal act for myself that you lot should check out, Primordial. Another decent band I learned about today was Drudkh.
