I hope it isn't out of line to post this here. If so moderators, feel free to delete. Ahem. I haven't been able to find any guilds for Pagans to be able to take polls to earn gold as well as discuss issues. The polling guilds have a lot of insipid stuff and the Pagan guilds don't seem to have many polls. It's great that there are so many informative Pagan guilds at Gaia, but we have avatars to equip, too.
So, I was wondering if people would be interested in a group where people could post polls with Pagan themes to earn gold, and discuss the results.

The problem with polling is that it takes up a lot of space and, to me, seems to lose any purpose it had to start with after a while. Plus, your oppinion is not really shared just by clicking yes or now. Discussions are fun and last longer. A few polls are alright. We could have one day where it would be all polling but then any important discussions get lost in the flood and we can't delete every poll.

That's why I thought it might be a good idea for there to be a seperate guild for the polls. The discussions wouldn't get bogged down with poll questions and answers. People who didn't care for that sort of thing wouldn't have to join, of course.
I think there would have to be some restrictions that the regular poll guilds don't have though, such as all poll questions must be about a Pagan, Wiccan, or witchcraft related topic and there must always be a minimum of three possible answers, such as Yes, No, and Other, with post requested for the "other" replies, explaining that person's view of that dilema, situation, ethical viewpoint, etc.

It costs a bit to make a guild. But if we got a subforum it would be a little bit more organized..

MrsBHavin but you would have to make sure that is stuck to what it was about and didnt jump to non related things.... Is that something that is difficult to do here for some reason? I can see where it would be in some guilds, but the members of this one seem to be pretty respectful of the rules and each other.

Polling tends to tempt people to go n00b, even in an otherwise calm and respectful environment. Discussion topics are much more of a mature option. All polls do is give you 10 gold compared to one gold for posting, and people always vote on them, but NEVER seem to even read the topic they just voted on, let alone post something afterward.

Well, if someone was reminded to not do this by an admin or crew member, I think they would be respectful and listen. I just doubt that someone will go wrong with a subforum. People are far too respectful here to go off and be greedy and forget about answering questions and asking them as well. I mean, the guild /is/ for learning about Paganism, right? Why not make a little bit of guild at the same time? =]

Exactly! Plus, polls don't have to be just yes/no answers. I've created them with many options, and it's not hard to do.
Also, 10 gold for answering a poll isn't automatic, if someone is just taking polls without posting afterward. Making long, involved posts actually can be worth more gold points. eek
