I leave creative control and ownership of Children of Verona to Rio and Kyle. I can't be bothered to keep up with it, and there are various other personal reasons. I reserve the right to return to CoV at any time to resume ownership. Use my characters as you see fit.

The story I'm about to tell you isn't a happy one, nor will there be some fantastic happy ending. In the end, the prince doesn't rescue the princess, the dragon defeats the knight, and the witch becomes the fairest in the land.

It would be a bit much to call it a tragedy. After all, I don't expect anyone to care for any of the characters I met in my time, nor do I expect anyone to care for me or the story I write down. This story is not for them- it's for the future. I write this now as a means to preserve our memory and carry it on into the future. A future where the world is not confined to the walls of Verona.

But I'm getting ahead of myself. I mean, I haven't even written down my name. I am Edgeworth Montague, the third nephew of Lord Montague, and the oldest
Kotic in my household, but I'll get around to explaining that in a moment.

Fourty years ago from the date I write this (XX-XX-XXXX), a deadly airborne virus spread throughout the world, killing anyone who inhaled it within the hour. Symptoms are said to be bleeding from the eyes, but I can't honestly say this is true or not. Verona, though, seemed completely ready for this disaster and raised the walls of the quarantine dome. We were trapped inside, but at the time there were UV lights to simulate the sun. At least that's what father told me.

Well, after about a year people were dying from starvation, so the mayor had the lights moved from the top of the dome to an underground lake where we could grow crops. That's when Verona fell into the everlasting night, illuminated only by the streetlights and buildings. Thanks to the food source from underground, Verona was able to keep on ticking, but Lord Montegue wanted more than to just survive.

Before I go any further, I need to tell you about the Capulets. See, us Montegues are a crime family. Plain and simple, I'm not going to doll it up for you. The Capulets were the same way, and when you have two mafias trapped in the same city, things tend to get a little... violent. Only problem was, neither family had a renewable source of ammo, you know? "Guns" were a rare commodity, and the ammo for them was even harder to come buy. Most fights were carried out using knives, daggers, even swords. Well, both Capulet and Montague started to research the same thing, apparently, because both of the bastards came up with the same genetic sequence... The genetic sequence that allowed for the tampering of fetuses' neural patterns. This gave way for us "Kotics"- Psychokinetic individuals. My kinesis is called "sectokinesis", which means I can cut stuff with my mind. There were all kinds of Kotics running around in the prime of the Kotic Wars, which is where our story begins...

My name is Edgeworth Destin Montague. But you can call me Edge.

[Edge .:. South Verona .:. Park]

It was almost an eerie scene, Verona's park. Due to the lack of nourishment plant life had died long ago, leaving dead trees and dirt. The many illuminated fountains served as a source of light and a reason to visit the park, though it was not enough to encourage people to go there. However, some remained unphased by the spooky park and still visited, as proven by the young man beneath a streetlight, leaning against its pole as he read from a small pocket book.

This man was none other than Edgeworth Montegue, the eldest male Kotic of the Montegue family. He'd somehow found himself in the park, reading definitions from a small pocket dictionary he'd found. After about an hour of memorizing definitions, the boy closed the book and looked around with a sigh. "Nobody ever comes here... I guess the park is just too depressing for the older people, and kids have more interesting things to do, like video games..." He put the small dictionary in his pocket and made his way through the deserted park, back to the car where his chauffeur was awaiting his return.

Edge stepped into the back seat of the car as his driver, Eddie, greeted him. "Welcome back, Master Edgeworth. Shall we head back to the house now?" Edge sighed and shook his head as he shut the door, leaning on his arm as he stared through the window.

"No thank you, Eddie... Would it be fine for us to just drive around for a bit? I am in no mood to speak with my parents, or head back to that place at the moment."

Eddie nodded and replied, "Certainly, Master Edgeworth." With that, the car drove off into the never-ending night of Verona...

[Sergio Capulet :: South Verona :: Park]

"It was the time of Adam, and it neared the dawn of Lucifer! Heaven's and Hell's army marched forth in rhythm to taste the cool steel of death's scythe as it sliced through their torsos, ending their miserable excuse of a life! God's thunderous roar was the gun shot the marked the beginning of the battle, and His tears washed away the sinful blood His Son came to cleanse oh so many years ago. Yet Hell's army was much too strong and the Lord's army was out numbered by 400 trillion! There was no hope... victory was only a fool's dream... a fool who dreamt... And a fool of such, uh... awesomeness was mentioned in the great ancient prophecies! He was a fool of legends who traveled the lands looking for battles, and he so happened to be, uh... on that particular route of which the battle of Heaven and Hell too place at that very moment... in time... and space... and everything in between? And with his weapon of DOOM, he charged passed the retreating soldiers and faced 400 trillion plus soldiers from hell all by himself!"

"'SHAKABOOY!' The warrior cried as he charged, his sword above his head with the twisted grin on his face. He was so deadly in fact that his foes with go blind from mere exposure to pure awesomeness! 'My eyes!' they'd shout! 'He's too awesome'! It mattered not how many foes he faced, bodacity (a combination of bold and audacity). When all had been said and done, and the rubble had swept away, the fool stood, untouched, amongst the lifeless demons which withered away from whence they came! The Lord look down upon the young fool and asked of how He could repay him, but the fool replied, "There is no charge for awesomeness,' and turned his back in super slow-mo as he made his way into the setting sun, but not without one last battle cry... 'KABLOOY!'"

It was dark out, a time for slumber for most children all over Verona, except for one little troublemaker with an overactive imagination. Sergio played make-believe with his wooden sword and cape in the middle of the park, obviously no place for an eight-year-old to be at such a late hour, which begs to the question... where are his guardians? His swings were less than exceptional, clumsy if you would. His stance... well... he's not even two feet tall yet, no man in his right mind would flee from this angry gnome. But his cape did flow... that it did.

"Shh, shh, shh... The wind, she whispers me a tale," he said to himself. "There yonder.. I hear...eth... cometh... More of Lucifer's army!" He, uh... what seemed to be a strange form of forward mobility, a kind of mix between skipping and prancing, made his way towards the rest of the unaware imaginary army. Sergio hid behind a tree, awaiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. He cried, "Scadouche," as he charged at the invisible army, wooden sword at his side, but his cape was too large for his body and he had not taken that into consideration. The boy tumbled and rolled the rest of the way until he stopped in before the mighty army! In his half dazed state, he raised his weapon and said, "Prepare to meet thine maker, foul demons. You shall all go backeth from whence you cameth!"

[Therawyn Capulet :: South Verona :: Park]

Thera followed a little behind Sergio, easily masking her presence. She had followed him from the house, afterall she couldn't leave her little brother to wander the streets of Verona alone. The same streets that thugs wandered, thugs that picked on little children. Thera kneeled to the ground, placing a hand against the barren floor and listened to the reverberations of the Earth. It didn't seem like there were people in the nearby vicinity aside from Sergio, whose movement patterns she had memorized.

The teen walked up to Sergio, still amazed by his limitless imagination. He was still untouched by the horrors of the world and Thera smiled at that. She chuckled at his adventures.

"Sergio, I think it's about time we headed home... no?" Thera said quietly, not wanted to interrupt Sergio's demon slaying TOO much. She smiled at the little hyperactive child she called her baby brother.

[Saiya Capulet:: South Verona:: Park]

The awesome exploits of the little warrior were what kept the young woman in good conscience that the child was alright. As long as the hero of the Lord, the mighty Sergio, continued his loud escapades, Saiya was relaxed and settled herself into her own musings.

She passed between the various barren trunks, long since dead with an observant air.
She watched from branch of a barrne tree, being so still she might have been missed by Thera's searching.
She had often liked to watch him with hsi sister, simply because she had always found the boy and his sister to be such a joy to be around. His never ending amount of energy brought a hopeful delight to her soul that no other source she had yet encountered ever could.

When the child emerged from behind a tree, stumbled and tumbled into a tangled mess of cape, and furious blade swiping, Saiya couldn't help but finally break into giggles revealing her location, up in the boughs of the barren trees..
She giggled and looked down at them with a warm grin, " Oh Mighty Seirgo, you have scared all the demons away, the people are so thankfull, but is thou alright? Thou hath taken quite a tumble little warrior." she smiled waved at them.

(It's completely fine!! :] Sorry about the inconvenience D: )

[Therawyn Capulet :: South Verona :: Park]

"Saiya!" Thera called, her head whipped upwards to the tree trunk, her brown hair fanned out behind her. Thera smiled upwards at her cousin, relieved that it was Saiya and not someone else. It just came to prove that Thera could only sense the moving, she hadn't gotten good at sensing life being that there was no life for her to sense... the tree were dead, the plants withered... Thera sighed.

But depressing revelations aside, Thera smiled broadly at Saiya. "How have you been cousin? Aideen still causing trouble?" Thera chuckled, somehow Thera felt close and oddly safe with Saiya.

[Thelas Montague :: South Verona :: Park]

Thelas couldn't help but smile as he walked throughout the park, relishing the quiet that only few could enjoy.

"Such a wonderous evening..." he chuckled, the black umbrella draped over the blonde man's hair. "Not very common for me to enjoy the outdoors, but I need to get away from...her. Little troublemaker." Thelas sighed, his gray eye wandering about at the patrons at the park. His other eye remained hidden by his hair, his little 'blessing in disguise'. He had always felt self-conscious about his two different color eyes, even though other members of the Montague family looked crazier in their own ways...

He twirled the open umbrella around his head, humming Ode to Joy quietly to himself, dancing around like an immature child through the grass of the park. Thelas couldn't help but chuckle as he did this, feeling rather silly and carefree...Something he hadn't done in a rather long time. Curse that girl, corrupting him with her mischevious. Oh well, he could deal with it later.

[Veréor Capulet : South Verona : Park]

"I would assume so, considering her fiery personality and temper," a voice called out from a distance to their side, near another row of trees. From there, the silver-haired blood-brother of Sergio could be seen walking their way, a playful smile on his features; he wouldn't have been detected by Thera's as he had been still, or Saiya because he had no special energies to look out for (supposedly). One of the 'failures' of the Capulet Kotics, Veréor was still a big part of the family- mainly as Sergio's guardian and the eldest male of the Fourth Capulet House. Though he had been genetically tampered with as the others, the only things he had to show for it were his oddly colored (or lack there of) hair and eyes.

It was as he spoke that the very vivid visualizations of the valiant vanquisher (verily known as 'Sergio') vanished from his vision. Instead of demonic armies on a destroyed landscape, the boy would see what there really was- the three other Capulets and a deadened park. Of course, his imagination could easily supplement the images on command, but probably not to such an extent that he would hear, small, feel them...

"Sorry about the worry, sister, but I was watching him as he wandered," he explained, his voice somewhat soft as he spoke to Therawyn, almost timid; he scratched the back of his head sheepishly as he grinned. "But cousin Saiya, what brings you out on this eve?"

[Caelum Montague : North Verona : The Sanctuary of Montague]

The messy-blond haired teenager wandered around a particularly large subdivision of Verona, looking at the many large manors of the Montague Family. He walked down the main road, which led directly into a cul-de-sac. Directly ahead, facing the road was the Main House. To the left (on the Main Houses right) was the First House, and on the right (the Main Houses left) was the Second House, and the Houses alternated from there.

The entire subdivision, known to the public as 'The Sanctuary of Montague', was sealed off from the rest of the city and required 'permission' to enter at any one time. This was, after all, the stronghold of the Montague Kotics.

Cael continued to wander aimlessly down the street, a playful breeze blowing through his hair.

The latest mission was a success... wonder what the news will have to say.

[Therawyn Capulet :: South Verona :: Park]

"Brother!"Therawyn didn't bother to mask her surprise, though she didn't exactly know why she would be surprised in the first place. This was Veréor that she was talking about. He always managed to take her by surprise one way or another.

"I should've guessed that you'd be looking after Sergio." Therawyn smiled mischievously at Ver as he walked towards them. She really should have guessed he would, those two were nigh inseparable. Though Thera was a little miffed that by now two people had gone unnoticed by her. She made a mental note to herself to practice later. However, something else also caught the nineteen year old's eye, the way Veréor seemed to restrain himself as he spoke to her despite them growing up together. Therawyn smiled ruefully, her hands clasped behind her back, wondering when they possibly could have drifted apart. "There's no need to be sorry Ver, it was definitely entertaining to watch Sergio slay demons."

[Saiya Capulet: South verona: Park]
"Aideen's always a challenge but a labor of love to be around as always..." the girl sighed eyes swimming with thoughts. The dim light of the park lanturns revealed the unusual green-ish coloring in her hair and danced off the faintly luminous skin beneath the silken folds of fabric.
"...I've not seen her as of late, hopefully she wont be returning with more injuries then the usual." Saiya remarked, the firey kotic was known for her advanturious and dangerious exploits against the other family. Saiya never approved, but did not press her opinion, just tended to the red head wounds when she returned home.

When Veréor appeared from the shadows she gave a slight startle. Indeed, Saiya could only sense the brighter energies of kotics, which made the young man almost invisable to her sense. He blended in with the usual pattern of lights casted by the regular inhabitance of the people.
She never looked down upon him for it, in fact, secretly, she was slightly envious.

" Always glad to see you cousin," she said, slipping from the tree bough and decending with a grace she almost seemed to float, but only to untrained eye. She landed upon the barren ground softly and smiled at the pale lythe youth. " I was given some time off, the harvest is doing well, and the experiment was sucess, so it's a bit of a thankyou from the field managers below." she explained, leaning back against the trunk.
Saiya was known to be one fo the more elusive members of the capulets, not of choise of course. It was simply cause her kenesis was always an unspoken element in the ranks of them. Only a few had seen or heard rumers of what it was like.
To those like Vereor and Thera, and Aideen, they had a vauge idea of what it might do, or at least enclude, but neither had seen it in true action.
Saiya was often an element of experientation down below in the feilds that supported the cities supplies and air. That in itself gave them more of an idea. The simple name - AnimaKenesis was all they had to go on, and from that word, the imagination was to fill in the blanks.

But that didn't stop Saiya from endulging sometimes and showing them a few smal signs of...hope.

She rested a hand against the dry dead surface, rubbing her fingers almost affectionatly, thoughtfully.

"..I suppose I was also just... researching." She turned to them then, replacing her hand into the pockets of her dress coat.
" How has life on the surface been for you this week? Any news?"

It would be however.. at that moment.. she felt a strange tickle at the back of her neck. The same tickle that Thera and Sergio gave off. Like feeling a warm breeze ina cold room. So distinct, and it wasn't coming from any of them, it drifted faintly in the distance behind them.
Saiya said nothing as of yet- but kept an alert.
For all she knew, it could be another family member coming to say hi, and the more the merrier right?
Maybe it was Aideen? She had a nack for appearing when others spoke of her. Her ears burning... sometimes litterally!

[Veréor : South Verona : Park]

"He is quite the bundle of energy, isn't he," he replied, playfully messing up the toddlers hair as he listened to his other relatives. Especially to Saiya, who went on about the Harvest. Ah, yes, her ability- he'd gotten some more concrete information on that from a source. All he knew was what was on her file- sure, she revealed the name of Animakinesis to them, which Veréor knew (due to his love of reading and research) to be 'manipulation of the soul', or at the very least, energy.

Always the fascinating cousin...

"Actually, I was just letting Sergio here out for a little while before we went to rescue our princess," he explained, looking to Therawyn with a knowing glance.

It was public knowledge that Isra's mother died at childbirth. Only the two of them (and Veréor's source) knew that the father had died by Isra's hands (the official story was the he was killed by a Montague hitman). The effects of her kinesis (aptly named Corrosiokinesis) had taken its toll on the father, who had taken Isra in his arms out of anger. Only Therawyn and Veréor knew the whole story. Sergio knew Isra existed, but nothing else.

The rest of the family believed her to have been stillborn.

This is going to be an awkward conversation.

"We're heading back home in a little bit to pick up our little sister," he whispered to Saiya, looking down at Sergio with a small smile. The little boy would have heard 'princess' instead of 'sister'. "Her name is Isra."

[Aideen: South Verona: Road to Park]

"Damn it all...ran longer than I thought...ow!"

Aideen was driving her 'baby', a Mustang convertible painted crimson red, to the park, and a little bit of blood and sweat trickled down and into her eye.

Wiping the bodily fluids off her face, she smiled a bit, taking a second to glance at the bag of groceries on the seat next to her. She had won quite a bit of money off that fight, managing to buy herself another carton of cigarettes and some food for dinner later tonight.

She wiped the blood away again. She hadn't figured the guy would pull a knife once he was losing, and that had cost her a nice, but shallow, cut on her forehead. Head wounds always did bleed more than others...and Saiya was going to give her that look again. Not only was she a bit late, but she was hurt, too.

[Saiya: South Verona: Park]

Saiya's brow raised slightly at the pale teens explaintion. Vereor hadn't mentioned such a person to her before.
"Isra? Thats a pretty name- I'm sorry I've not the chance to meet her before." But that was understandable, she hadn't known many of the family outside of the initial cluster that surounded Aideens branch of the family.

Saiya lowered her gaze to smile at the little child again..." Sergio, I'm making something for you, when I'm finished, will you come visit me at Aideens home?" she asked softly.

All the while she still felt that presence, it didn't approach any closer, but ti was still there.
The extended time it took before approach began to tell tale Saiya what sort of person it was. The concern glittered behind her green eyes, which creased a little.

She looked down at her watch, Aideen was supposed to meet her there. But yet again, she was late- not that Saiya wasn't surprized. The red head in question was too far still for the girl to feel her presence yet- which only added to her worry.
Saiya looked up from her watch and crossed her arms a little in that gesture of defenciveness.
"..perhaps it is best you vacate..." she said softly underher breathe, giving them that 'look', which meant something was up. But not enough to panic over.

[Edgeworth Montague .:. South Verona .:. Highway]

The crimson flash passed by Edge's car, the Kotics taking note of it as he thought quietly, The Capulets must be gathering at the park again... I would follow, but I'm not capable of fighting large numbers of Kotics. Tonight, it would be best if I simply ignored that fiery Mustang...

"Sir, might I inquire as to what we shall do about the pyro Capulet?"

Edge looked away from the window to Eddie and sighed. "Nothing this time, Edward. On this rare occasion, I shall show compassion and mercy rather than hatred and malice." The young man looked back out at the city as it blurred by his window. He rested his chin as his palm as his boredom began to grow, followed by the usual sigh. "This time, Ed, we just go home. I grow tired, and wish to rest..."

[Steel Capulet .:. South Verona .:. Road to Park]

A black motorcycle pulled up alongside the red Mustang, the rider looking over to his cousin with a silly smile on his face. His red hair flowed along with the wind as he shouted, "I thought you were a pyrokinesis, not a hemokinetic!!! Why all the blood, huh?!!"

[Calcinus Montague .:. North Verona .:. Streets near the Sanctuary of Montague]

The white-haired Montague caught up to Caelum, having seen him from further down the street, and said, "Good evening, brother... Nice weather we're having?... Or would it be lack thereof?"

[Aideen Capulet: South Verona: Road to Park]

The girl looked over at the motorcycle, shaking her head with a smile. Figures her brother would show up now.

"You know me!! Can't say no to a good knock-down, drag-out brawl!!"

And she wiped more blood off her forehead and flicked a drop out the window, letting it get caught in the wind and hit the road, before lighting up a cigarette with her favorite lighter, letting the flame stay and roll around her arm and wrist, the wind from her driving not seeming to effect it in the least. She always did like playing with fire.
