Well, I stole this from my sister after she got done reading.
This book is about a futuristic (?) city that contains 12 districts. Each district does one specific thing and sends it all to the capital, which leaves everyone else starving.
The book follows a girl from District 11 which mines coal.
Each year, the capital holds a "game" called The Hunger Games to remind the district of the horror that happened the last time they tried to rebel.
So, they basically take two people from each district and stick them in an arena and make it required television for all people in the nation.
The contestants fight to death until one remains and is crowned the victor.
The two contestants from District 11 are Katniss and Peeta who while in the arena fall in love and yea.

It sounds like Battle Royal.
If you haven't seen/read it, it's about a Japanese program where they take like one freshman class from the schools send the to a deserted island and make them fight to the death..
It's horrific. I love it.
