Cactus Island (サボテン島, Saboten Shima) is an island with several cactus-shaped mountains, with the "spikes" being tombstones. These mountains were never fully explored, so it's unknown how one can climb these mountains. This is one of the first islands reached in the Grand Line. This is the location of the Whiskey Peak arc.

Whiskey Peak (ウィスキー ピーク, Uisukī Pīku) , called Misty Peak in the 4Kids dub, is one of the major cities (an only city fully explored) located on Cactus Island. This city is inhabited entirely by bounty hunters working for Baroque Works,

The Diamondia arrived at Whiskey Peak, the hull grinding against the dock as Matsu jumped down from the deck, taking the gangplank with him. The town itself was empty, the usual jovial tone subdued. "All ashore as goin' ashore!" Matsu turned and walked into the town.

Sweaty, but gleaming, Lamia was for once proud that she rode on the Diamondia. It'd been terribly dusty lately, and with her mixed roles as new head of the cabin boys and as Master Yobu's humble servant, she'd been a bit more bossy lately. But once the ship was presentable in her eyes, she finally let the boys go free as they dashed hurriedly to the party quickly taking place on Whiskey Peak. They were quite braggy about being Lamia's unofficial wards, or "apprentices" as they boasted, but it did wear on their nerves whenever she nagged them about the ship. Still swelling with ego she did as much of a strut down the gangplank as her tail would let her, ignoring the blossoming, gossipy whispers.

However, the ego dropped as soon as she took hold of Master Yobu's wheelchair, and she was instantly humbled before her gracious master.

"Something to drink Master Yobu?" she asked with a gentle, servile look as they took their seats inside the racous party-house.

Matsu was the center of a circle of men, all wielding weapons. His sword was out, and he had one hand bound behind his back. His eyes were shining, and his mouth was curved up. "The usual bet, mates! Anyone who gets me to flame gets a hundred thou'." Three men lay groaning already, clutching quickly forming bruises. One of them clutched a nasty cut over a tattoo on his arm. The stylized letter 'B' was just barely visible through the blood.

Lamia just rolled her eyes at her captain's lout actions. "Men...so full of themselves..." she muttered, quickly ignorant of her own ego. With her nose in the air, as usual, she refused to acknowledge her captain's big-headed attempts to get attention.

Matsu heard Lamia, and tapped his foot in a certain pattern. Two revelers nodded and, leering, made their way to Lamia, beer mugs in their hands. He'd show her 'full of himself.' Or, more accurately, the two men currently winding their way towards her would show her, with any luck, what it was like for her to be 'full of their selves.'

((Yes, they're going to hit on her.))

(Ewww! Ully-kun I got the inneuedo and that's gross!)

As she helped Master Yobu into his seat, she didn't notice the two partiers that were steadily approaching. Master Yobu's curious stare from behind her however, prompted her to turn around straight into the two men. She wrinkled her nose as the smell of sweat and the beer dripping slightly onto the floor became apparent. It didn't help these guys didn't shower. They had to make messes too.

"Hey there babe" one purred with a leer, "...we were just-"

"No."

"Huh?"

Looking quite irritated with the two, she cut off what was probably going to turn into a very lame pick-up session. They looked a little shocked at being cut off, even more so as she started pointing her sharp, pointy fingernail in their face.

"Can't you see I'm busy now?!" she shrilled in agitation, "I am trying to get Master Yobu fed now and it's been a long journey so he's hungry. You two are making a mess as well and if you don't beat it I'll make you beat it! Go on! Shoo!" she waved them away as if they were just dogs as they awkward slumped off, muttering in confusion, but holding their beer mugs a little more steadily. If they dripped, they might have to clean it up and they'd hate to become demoted to nothing but cabin boys again.

She turned back to Master Yobu, a little startled by his chuckling.

"I've seen quite a few women get hit on, but I've seen few react like that," he chortled to Lamia's somewhat embarassed face.

The last man went down groaning, and Matsu walked over to Lamia and Yobu, slashing the cord that tied his left arm as he did. He whispered something to Yobu, something where the word 'weapon' was just barely audible. Yobu nodded. Matsu sheathed his blade and then turned to Lamia. "I assume you can fight with those claws of yours?" The whisper of steel-on-steel issued from around them. All the patrons had drawn hidden weapons. "Seems that Baroque Works hasn't quite vacated this town." Matsu flared, forming a cage around Yobu, Lamia, and his men, who had been gradually drifting towards the trio over the last several minutes. Yobu withdrew a large and extremely unwieldy blunderbuss from the depths of his wheelchair. "Told you I still had it with me, Captain."

((Yes, it is.))

Lamia herself was quite baffled, first by the instant violence of the patrons, second by Master Yobu's hidden weapon.

"M-Master Yobu!" she squeaked. He grinned back at her stutter.

"Well at least you know most of my old tales weren't false."

Lamia then sighed, before drawing her claws across her lip slowly in thought, calculating what moves she should make.

"Does trouble ever cease to follow you captain?" she said with the air of someone about to be dragged through something really unnecessary.

Matsu parried an inexpert thrust with a rusty cutlass using his flames. "Not really. Trouble abounds when you're a Shichibukai." He parried another thrust and incinerated the assailant. this seemed to calm the attackers down slightly, and Matsu took advantage of this opening. "Listen to me, you idiots. I want to talk to the pair in charge here. Be nice and hand them over and I might leave the town standing this time." The light of recognition lit up in several eyes, all of which uniformly were covered with mutters of "Oh, god. Him again?"

Lamia raised an eyebrow at the whispers. "Again?" she drawled, "Just how many times have you done this?"
PostPosted: Wed Jul 08, 2009 5:32 pm

A voice piped up from the back. "Six." Another one countered this. "No, it's the eighth time right now." They got into an argument. Matsu turned to Lamia, spitting an over-confident attacker on her own spear. "I believe the correct answer to that question is 'far too often.' I visit Whiskey Peak every time I enter the Grand Line. Now then, gents!" He turned to the room. "You lot have refused to bring forward the persons I have requested to see. Now I shall gently herd you all into a ring of fire at the center of this blasted town and reduce the entire place to a smouldering slag heap. Hopefully you buggers will think before joining BW next time." Over the next forty-five seconds or so Matsu did just that. However, his men kindly moved all the villager's belongings into the town square before the buildings caught.

As Lamia sat on the sidelines, listening to the burning sounds of the bounty hunters houses, and their shouts of protest as they remained helpless inside the fire, she couldn't force down the icy cold wave of disgust towards Matsu. He was like a volcano, and personified it often. Sometimes he was managable...but times like this, where he'd just killed two men without even a second look, reasons why didn't matter.

"Death is always the worst option..."

She remembered when her mother told her that. If anyone deserved death, it'd be her father. With a shaking, sickened feeling roiling in the pit of her stomach, she slumped back down to the ground and tried not to turn right back at her captain and scream.

(Edited. But she's still mad <3)

((Matsu's killed exactly two people here. One of them after he said he was Shichibukai, one of them just before he spoke to Lamia. He's not that violent. He just gives them a very forceful warning. They still have all their belongings, just not their houses.))

Matsu clocked Lamia on the back of the head. "Exactly. Death is always the worst option, but if it's a choice between my death and theirs I'll choose theirs. You prefer that Yobu was the one cooling in the ground right now?"

((Understandable.))
