Most of the workers at the aquarium knew Abby and Hannah. It was hard not to when they exploded out of your axolotl tank in a burst of fire, and then their worried father returned months later to try and explain just what had happened.
That was probably the only reason that Korri allowed them to explore there themselves.
Each girl armed with a cell phone (and Hannah clutching her doll protectively to her chest), the twins wandered through the tanks, staring at various sea-dwellers. Hm...did this place even have axolotls any more?

The entire Ind family was out in full force today and that was why Lily had opted to escape while her mother toted around her four younger siblings. Yeah, she loved the little guys to pieces, but when you shared the same space with them night and day? Time alone with some fish was good. Very good.
At the opposite end of the aquarium from them from the rest of the Inds, Lily wandered with her hands clasped behind her back, watching as a piranha scoped out a couple of cleaning ladies who were leaning against the glass with a smirk.

Abby, tall and boyish, and Hannah, petite and effeminate, could not have looked more different as they wandered past the tanks. Who would have thought they were twins, if it wasn't for their uneven skin and hair-fronds?
"OOH, ABBY, LOOK!" Hannah laughed. There was an octopus attached to the front of its tank, opening and closing its beak for no apparent reason.
"It's trying t'talk t'you," Abby replied, entirely deadpan.
"What? Nooo, no it's not."
"Sure it is. It says it's gonna eat you."
"Abby, that's not funny."

The piranha was not all that far away from the octopus and Lily glanced over at the other two girls. They... sort of looked like they belonged in the tanks with the other fish and creatures, but other than that passing thought, their appearance didn't phase her much. They at least didn't have any giant spider parts.
The cleaning ladies moved on and Lily kept glancing at the other two girls, interested. They seemed about her age and she didn't know many other kids, at least many that she got along with.

As twins were wont to do, Hannah and Abby both looked over at the same time. Hannah's eyes went slightly wide, and she blushed shyly. Abby, however, grinned and smiled. Why not say hi to strangers? It had never hurt her before!

Lily's reaction was about a combination of the two girls' -- her face had gone bright red, but she smiled in kind and returned the wave enthusiastically. They both seemed nice enough, so why not?

"I'm Abby!" one of the girl chirped to the other child. It was simply her way."This is my sister Hannah!"
Hannah gave a weak smile and waved herself. Why not, right?

The girl grinned brightly and waved again, this time directed more at Hannah. "I'm Lily! It's nice to meet the both of you." Manners. She had them.

Hannah's smile brightened, but she did duck slightly behind her sister. When Daddy wasn't around, what was a girl to do but that?
"You too," Abby said, more out of upbringing than actually meaning it, "C'mere. Lookit this octopus. It looks like it's tryin' t'say somethin'."

Lliy grinned at the octopus and watched as it flailed its tentacles and snapped its beak some more. It really did look like it was trying to talk. "What do you think it's saying?"

"I already decided it's gonna eat Hannah," Abby said offhandedly with a little shrug. Hannah gave her sister a little whap on the arm and a vaguely angry glare.
"I told you to stop that."
