It was really boring in the forest. Especially mornings like this, where Thunder Strafe had woken up much earlier than everybody else and now found himself with nothing to do. His mother was an early riser too but it was so early that even she had told him to shush and go back asleep. So he snuck away, grouchy that everyone was ignoring him.
Clumsily he stumbled up a path scattered with roots, mumbling to himself. It was a strange part of the forest but he wasn't scared. Not at all! He didn't believe his momma's stories about monsters and danger. She just wasn't brave, like him. He started imagining what it would be like to be a bear.
"Rawr rawr RAWR!" The colt played, bouncing up the path. He stopped to creep along like he was sneaking up on something, before he lunged and was off roaring and jumping again.

(( Can you stick the names of our Soqs in the title when you come to reply to this? Thanks ^_^ )) Sunari was glad she out; Aunt Meena and her mother had been talking since sun up...on and on about how lonely her aunt was. Sunari had piped up the opinion that Meena was a pretty mare, who didn't need a smelly male to make her feel better, and had been promptly told to go play with her brother and sister.
They'd both gone off somewhere already, so she took herself away on her own, bouncing between grass and dirt path, her hooves kicking up the mud where it was bone dry from the summer sun. She followed it a way without hearing or seeing anything out of the ordinary and then stopped, as a peculiar noise reached her flicking ears.
'What the?'
It kind of sounded like a wild creature..if those made growling noises that were slightly squeaky.
'Hello?' she called. Maybe it was a bear with a sore throat? If it was, she could always high tail it away before it laid a paw on her.

Bouncing along, Thunder kicked at some low branches, trying to get them just to see if he could reach that far. He was distracted however when he thought he heard someone call out. Ears forward, he listened for the voice again and grinned when he heard Sunari call out a second time.
He started to creep along, his head low. Through some brush he went until he stopped at a big leafy bush, and peeked out from the leaves. Something was up ahead? Thunder started to laugh at the prank he was about to pull but he quickly turned it into another mock growl so not to blow his cover. Reaching out with his hoof a bit he also rustled the branches a little, trying to make it look like some kind of animal was coming.

Sunari's sharp ears twitched; was that laughter she'd heard? Maybe she would play along for a bit and see..she was still confident that she could outrun a proper predator.
'Please don't eat me Mr Bear!' she called out, putting a wobble into her voice to sound scared, clipping slowly along to where she thought the sound was coming from.

Thunder started to snicker so much that he could barely keep his voice serious when he replied, "Too bad, you look like a tasty snack!" Did the filly really think he was a bear? Oh wouldn't that be fun. He moved a little closer though the bush, growling some more. "Rrrr..."
Suddenly he jumped right out of the plants with a great yell which trailed off into laughter. he was too impatient to keep sneaking after her. "Did I get you? Did I?"

She could already hear the laughter in the voice, and replied back;
'No I'm not, I'm too small to be worth your time.' she could see now that the movement in the bush wasn't really big enough for a bear to be lurking in there and so she wasn't entirely suprised when the colt jumped out.
Sunari hopped back a little so he didn't fly into her, but shook her head.
'Nah, you don't really make a good bear sorry.' she grinned.

Looking genuinely disappointed Thunder let out a great goofy "Aww", but he got over it in just a quick second. It had been fun even though he hadn't actually scared her.
"Well I like being a colt better." He grinned back, then began to trot a half-circle around her. "I'm Thunder Strafe! Thunder for short. Who're you?" He was a curious foal, and very talkative to boot. "I've live here in the forest!"

'What, just you on your own, or do you mean your family lives here?' Sunari said, eyeing him curiously. Really, just because he was an over excitable colt, didn't mean he shouldn't be exact.
'Sunari.' she said as an afterthought, giving her name as he'd given his.
'My family lives at the Village.'

Questions just encouraged Thunder Strafe to continue babbling. "I wish I lived by myself," he said, "I live with my mom and two sisters. Though I wish I had a brother to play with." He made a face, seeming to forget that Sunari was a girl too.
"I've been to the Village too. Two-legger lives there." He smiled as he used his family's word for humans, imagining the treats and brushing he got from the old woman who 'owned' them. "Though she's kind of cranky and mean sometimes."
