How does one handle their own anger?
How does one typically handle another person's anger/agression when it's directed at them? (i.e- verbal threats, shoving, etc)?

As to my own anger. Usually I start to concentrate on my breath. It helps to slow things down, and somehow I can think things through a little more carefully. However, I have never had a truly infuriating experience recently, so I don't know how well that would work, or if I would need a different way of gaining some control.
I also try to remember that everyone has a reason for doing something. It may not be something I would ever do, but for whatever reason, their reasoning made sense to them at the time they did whatever it was that made me angry.
I also try to remember that anger is hard to direct. I'll just use a hypothetical murderer here. Should I get angry at the murderer? What if he were sociopathic as a result of his parent's leaving him to fend for himself at an early age? Should I then get angry at his parents? What caused the parents to neglect the kid? Was the world mean to them? In the cause and effect of things, it is so very hard to say that this person is indeed where all the blame lies. And anyways, simply locking the guy up for the saftey of others would take care of all as well as they could be, and then dealing with the hurt in a way that harms none and lets one release the hurt.
As to dealing with another's anger, agression, etc. I actually haven't really thought about it. I really don't have any ideas on just how to do that.

My own? It's rare enough. I reason myself out of it, usually. There's always a better way to deal with something. Almost, anyway. If I am angry at someone in particular for doing something in particular, then I think, fine, I'll calm down and mention it to them. Or overlook it if I can. Stuff like that. I can't stay angry long at all anyway.
As to dealing with another's, I'm not sure. Wait til they calm down, or try and help them along the way to calming down. Then figure out why they're angry and if I can help or not, I guess.
Verbal threats and shoving I don't think I've ever encountered. Not within my memory anyway. It's, well, me. Unless it was some random stranger who had completely lost the plot, noone would do that to me. I think they'd find it as ludicrous as I. It is a bit funny now that I think about it biggrin
Er but anyway, if they did, try and defuse the situation of course. As to how, I'm not entirely sure. If it was a random crazy stranger, I've just been told "yeah, you'd have a 0 tolerance level policy on that". I suppose I would.
