Faolan waited till Elle was gone for the day off to her storytelling gig and had send Zia off to fetch breakfast for the remaining household. After instructing the protos to stay in the front room and not to cause trouble, he headed for the bedroom. The doors to the bed above the dresser were still closed, so Faolan took the liberty of opening them.
Leaning against the opening, Faolan watched Lee sleep, taking in how pretty and innocent she looked curled up in the bed. Leaning down, he rested a hand on the bed so he was leaned over the girl, head tilted slightly, ears twitching to listen to her soft breathing.
"Lee," he said softly, leaning closer. "It's time to wake up, darlin'. You've slept long enough."

Was it morning already? Who ever was talking to her had a voice that made her want to fall back asleep. Lee rubbed at her eyes and blinked rapidly to focus on her surroundings. Meh. Her bed was feeling pretty uncomfortable this morning. And why couldn't she hear Lauss rustling through the pages of a book? Was that Faolan's voice? The girl's eyes shot open and she stared at Faolan for a moment, terribly confused as she glanced around the vardo bedroom.
Oh... right. Last night. So it wasn't just a dream after all. Lee sat up and blinked a few times, the memories of the day before just starting to return. Remembering Faolan was right next to her, she patted at her hair, a bit embarrassed to look so unkempt in his presence. He was her husband now, wasn't he? At least, that's what she remembered. "Morning." Her eyes wandered over him, not wanting to look into his eyes but still in his general direction. She hoped Ellandra was feeling better today, and that perhaps Faolan might give her a better idea of what this whole "marriage" thing was going to involve.

"Mornin', love," Fao said softly, moving to rest his forearms on the bed casually. "Slept well, did you?"
He glanced over at the partially closed bedroom door and then back at the girl. "Elle's gone to work doin' her storytellin' so you an' me should take some time to have a chat. I talked with her last night already. There's a few things she an' me agreed to about you that you probably should know about."

Lee looked down at the sheets covering her as she nodded. She'd have slept better if it had been her own bed, but she wasn't about to go into that. Lee swung her legs to the side of the bed, kicking them slightly as they dangled down. Noticing she was still wearing that horribly uncomfortable skirt from yesterday, she frowned and got to the floor, tugging at her shirt as she looked up at Faolan.
They'd been talking about her? Being a teenage girl, Lee assumed that could only be negative. "What kinda things were those?" He was right; there was probably quite a bit she still needed to learn about what she'd gotten herself into.

Faolan moved to let the girl out of bed, sitting down on the other one across the tiny room. "It's like this, lass. You an' Elle are both my wives now. That means I ain't gonna treat you any less'n I do her or ignore her for you. You're free to snuggle up against me or whatever you like, but I do have to draw the line at layin' with you."
He looked at her, shrugging. "It ain't fair to you or Elle to go doin' that with you if'n we ain't sure we're gonna stay in this marriage yet. Three months come and go and we're all still married, we'll sort it out then. For now, you're free to come and go here as you please, but be watchful that your parents ain't gonna try snatchin' you back. I'm guess you have some questions, too, eh?"

Lee nodded as he spoke, a small blush forming. She could snuggle with him? She wasn't sure she'd ever get the confidence to pull something like that off, but they'd see. What does "laying with him" mean? Wait, he meant--?!
"N-nooo. I-I wasn't--!" She blinked rapidly, trying to get her sentences to come out in one piece. "I wasn't... planning on that." That would be a little too soon. She was glad, though, that it wouldn't be an issue for a while.
She hadn't given much thought to her parent's reaction. Did they even know where this place was? They could easily find out, if they didn't. Just ask the chauffeur that had taken her here the first time. She fidgeted as she contemplated what sort of action they'd be able to take. Money talked, after all, and if they got their hands on her in the next three months they'd surely be able to annul the marriage on their own. But how strict would they have to be about that? "I can still go outside Farstep, right? What about when the twins come? There won't be enough room for me and Lauss. Are we legally married, or only in the carnival?" We can start with that.

Faolan scooted back on the bed and rested his back against the wall. "I wouldnae recommend leavin' Farstep without me or Elle or someone else from the clan along with you. At least till you're legally adopted by a clan member or our marriage is solid. Trouble is, most outsiders donnae recognize the marriages of the didikai, which means we're married, but we ain't. You're a legal adult in the clan, which makes our marriage valid, but your parents can choose to ignore it and just claim I kidnapped you. It's likely they might."
He pulled a knee up to rest his arms around, shrugging a little. "Far as I'm concerned and as far as the clan and carnival goes, you an' me are as married as any husband an' wife can be. People outside the clan, they might not be as understandin'."
Moving a bit, he reached over and pulled her to him, letting her rest against his chest, one arm around her and the other around his drawn-up knee. "Donnae be worried about the space right now. You an' Lauss are as welcome as Elle an' Rhian right now. We got time afore the bairns arrive to start sortin' out livin' arrangements. Right now, the main worry is how to keep you out of your parents hands and away from marryin' idiots." He grinned a bit, looking down at her with amused half-closed eyes. "Well, idiots other than meself."

Lee nodded to her new hubby, becoming more and more relaxed as he explained. Faolan seemed to have a semi-good idea of what to do and what to say. But not being about to leave would be tough. Not because there were too many people she wanted to visit or anything, but just knowing that she could go places would be nice. Well, technically, he had kidnapped her, hadn't he? She smiled a bit, keeping herself from giggling at the thought. So this is what Ellandra had been talking about earlier.
Wait, what was happening? Were they cuddling? The relaxed feeling had faded quickly, and she sat stiff close to his chest. He doesn't have a shirt on again... But his voice, so smooth and comforting, nearly melted her once again, and her head fell against him, listening to him speak but not completely taking in the things he was saying. What were the questions she still had to ask? Aw, who cares. Her eyes nearly fell shut as she attempted to remember what it was she'd been worrying about a few seconds ago. "He's perfect."
No, she didn't realize she'd said that out loud.

Faolan felt her stiffen and relax against him, hoping the girl was getting more used to him now. His ear twitched at her comment and he grinned. "Hardly perfect, lass, but I try." He ducked his head down and kissed the top of her head. "Now, did you have any other questions to ask? I figure you'll wanna know about where to go bathin' and all that, eh?"

The girl's eyes flew open with his words. Wait... oops. Lee's hand went to her face as she covered her blush, but she didn't move away. It only got worse at the feel of his small kiss, and her head cleared the fluff away. Right. Those worries she needed to talk about. "Bathing? Yeah... you guys don't have a shower in here, do you?" Her eyes darted around the vardo, which she found had very few of things that she had always considered the "necessities". Where was the bathroom? And the microwave? Where was she supposed to set up her easel? There wasn't much room for that... "...Does Ellandra cook?" Please don't tell her Lee was responsible for that. Everyone would either starve or die of food poisoning. Looking down at herself, she cringed. "Can I change, maybe?" This was very uncomfortable. A shower would be needed as well, as her face was caked with make-up still, and she smelled a bit like a horse from last night.

"We donnae have a bathroom, nae. Too small for one. There's a public shower area set up about twenty feet from here, though," Faolan said, shrugging. "I usually do the cookin', actually. Sometimes Elle does, but only when she ain't tired from work."
He grinned playfully, not exactly moving to leave. "By all means, feel free to change. If'n you're worried you didnae pack somethin' comfortable, there's some t-shirts of mine in the second drawer of the dresser that you can wear. I'll talk with the ladies around here and see about gettin' you some clothes more suited to the carnival so you donnae go messin' up your pretty dresses."

Public shower? "You mean... like, showering with other people looking or...?" Let's hope not. She perked up at the thought of Faolan cooking. He really was perfect; he couldn't possibly get any better, could he? She was beginning to wonder if maybe he could fly, or perhaps if he was invincible.
Lee looked up and eyed him, wondering if he seriously intended to stay. She'd brought along a few things that she considered comfortable, but at his suggestion she decided not to mention those. "I'll... take one of your shirts, if you dun mind." She smiled and looked down, blushing again at the thought of wearing something of his, and stood up, going to rummage through the dresser. Her eyes lit up at the thought of getting to wear carnival clothes. As old as she wanted to be, wearing something that reminded her of a costume sounded like almost too much fun. "I-I could wear something like that? I mean, would I have to pay for it?" Who cares if she didn't have the luxuries she had at home; she'd get to wear carnival gear. Lee pulled out a baggy, blue shirt -- which complimented her eyes nicely -- and looked over to Faolan, tilting her head and watching to see if he'd get up and leave her to her private business. "Can I wear this one?"

The young man shrugged. "Far as the shower goes, pet, you can always check and see if you're alone or just go with a group of women. The stalls inside lock, too, but I cannae guarantee what'll happen in the changin' area in there."
He watched her going through his shirts. "We ain't gonna charge you for clothes. You'll need somethin' to get about here in, yeah?" He realized she might have thought he meant a performing costume. "You wonnae need a costume unless you got some sort of hidden talent to be showin' off to the crowds, though." At her question on the shirt, he nodded. "That 'un's fine, lass." He still made no move to leave, wondering idly if she'd tell him to get out or just deal with it and let him stay. He was alright either way, really.

Lee covered her face at the thought. Sounded like gym class. Only worse. She could go another day without showering, right? Right?!
No charge, even better. But... she had no talents. Dang. But she didn't think there was a difference between costumes and carnival clothes. She'd just wait to see what the ladies came up with and would decide if it was neat or not then. She paused from her costume worries to think about the people she'd be around. She was pretty different from them, she had to admit. Would anyone even talk to her? Would she make any friends? She shook her head, brushing aside the worries. If all else failed, she still had Ellandra. At least for now.
So, Faolan wouldn't be leaving. Lee sighed quietly and looked up to the cabinet she'd slept in. Climbing into it, she found it quite cramped, but it beat showing everything off to Faolan. On second thought... Lee climbed back out and rummaged through her things and pulled out some short shorts. Climbing back into the cabinet, she bumped around and attempted to get everything off and on without hurting herself.
