I've been playing this game for 4 yrs. I love my class, and I love raiding with her. I've been in the same progression guild for a little over a year now and really haven't had much to qq about. I'm not a gear hog and I gladly try to help my guildmates out if I can with just about anything. This is probably the biggest cause of my problem.
There was a player in guild that was just a casual member when I joined. I felt bad for them because they desperately wanted to be a raid member but most of the officers called them a bad and said they would never raid. I, with my bleeding heart, helped them to run instances any time I could and became their advocate. Always asking why they couldn't come and why wouldn't we give them a shot. Come Wrath I guess they felt the playing field had be leveled, or maybe we just needed the bodies, I dunno...but they finally accepted this person as a raider and they were invited to naxx runs and what not.
Progression through naxx, os and eoe went ok and then when we started Ulduar I noticed they started to change personality wise. Now they are constantly yelling commands over vent, calling people out for things that are totally stupid and literally all around being an a**. This person is not an officer, they are married to one now though. I suppose they feel it gives them certain rights and what not. It's very frustrating.
I've talked to a few people inguild about it and they all seem to make excuses for whatever reasons. So, I took a three week break and will go back to raiding this reset. However, I still can't control the urge to want to reach through the screen and punch them in the face. I don't want to leave my guild but I'm tired of putting up with this kind of crap.
Suggestions? Or can anyone make vodoo dolls?

globally mute for the win. And if not, you can simply mute them on your end.

If your officers care about their members, they'll listen to a complaint about another. Tell them that this persons actions are distracting you in play and causing you to not enjoy raiding. Tell them, like you said, that you aren't interested in leaving anytime soon but this person is detrimental to your raid experience.
You shouldn't have to put up with people being idiots... I'm sure others are frustrated too.

We have people like that in our guild as well.
While on one side, its really annoying and like you said it makes me want to reach thru the PC and punch them in the face, on the other side, there are definitely other people who feel the same way about them and it gives us something to gossip about during the raid in whisper.
I NEED TEH GOSSIPS.
Seriously though, like Kim says, if its really hardcore bothering you (and considering you had to take a break from wow because of it) your officers should speak to said person about his actions and put him in his place. Its what officers are there for, right?

WoW is filling with a bunch of assholes that try to bend the rules as much as possible. Nothing is against the rules and nobody ever gets banned. I wish they'd put some rules into Master Looting, nobody raids without it.
I'm forced to pug around on my server, I'm twice the healer any player in the entire server would ever dream to be, I've sat in as a pug for some of the Top server Guilds in my server, and completely pwned Healing charts by double everyone else, and still get called out on it. Maybe they're jealous? Human Holy Priest btw.
Ulduar ruined WoW, I agree. I hate the way it was introduced to WoW. I wish they had released more content for us to progress on, and how nobody outside of a guild was able to get anywhere. Everyone Pugs Naxx now, and has it on Farm. Everyone had Naxx on Farm before new content was released. Now they're coming out with T9 already!!!
The best thing you could do for your friend, when 3.2 comes out, run chain heroics, non stop, constatnly, collect those emblems, buy T8 and 9, and get him as geared as these players that get carried in their guilds all the time.
Like I said, it doesn't take much to be good at this game, I consider myself a noob and have proven myself (not just through reports and charts) to be better than most people around, I deserve to be in a top raiding guild, but can't because of reputation and jealousy, and mostly because all the guilds around are "full" on Holy Priests? lol... Okay... full on guild members, good one.
Yeah, that's what you can do, next patch, all players are going to be handed T8. That'll get you guys started. Hopefully Ulduar will go easier.

Angel coyote I deserve to be in a top raiding guild, but can't because of reputation and jealousy, and mostly because all the guilds around are "full" on Holy Priests? lol... Okay... full on guild members, good one. Let's raid with 6 holy priests healing and see how far the raid goes. Oh wait it won't because you need to balance out healing classes. If you're so good and deserve to be in a top raiding guild you'd know this.

I've tried muting them in the past which just lead to me talking over them and making them angry and then being harassed for having them muted. -shrugs- I guess I can try it again. I actually got to talk to my lead last night and apparently a lot of people have them on mute during raids now. They say it makes it so much nicer. -nods- Thanks.

Have you tried talking to/confronting them, Lenani?
It sounds like you tried to help them a lot and really got them where they are because you were kind to them. If anyone could talk to them about their sudden change in raiding behavior it'd seem like it'd be you.
But yeah, otherwise just talk to an officer or the guild master or what not.

Tell your guild leader that they are hampering your ability to DPS/tank/heal properly and that no one should have to put up with it.

It happens all the time. I think I've done what you've done like three or four times. Felt sympathy for them on their first character at low levels, befriend them and help them become a good player and suddenly have it thrown back in your face and put on ignore when they have everything they need. It's usually them conjuring an ego because maybe they were in a pug or raid that went well and they got complimented. I remember some guy on my server led a raid on the opposing factions city, he was in some non-raiding guild, the raid went well and the next day he was in the best guild on the server...and then soon kicked because his gear was terrible.
People like that will get it back exactly what they give. My advice is to stay calm and talk to them. I wish you luck. =)
